NOTES: Okay, this is the end of this series, and will wrap it all up in a very neat package, complete with a little bow (I hope...). * *= emphasis.
SO FAR: Ummm... okay. Willow and Angel were together, he said something mean and stupid (with good reason, though...), she left him, went back for a forgotten computer disk, left again, he tracked her down, they made with the hot weasel lovin', she forgave him, he claimed her, they went back to LA together, and during a somewhat intense conversation in the car, Angel let it slip that he planned on making the little witch his Mate, but... it's been over a month, so why hasn't he done it yet??? Maybe he was waiting for the right time, hmmm...??? *giggle*

He could hear her sweet, steady heartbeat out in the lobby, feel her breath on his skin, even though she was an entire room away, and he was convinced that that was because she was his heart. He'd brought her back, and... Gods, he didn't know how he'd managed to exist during those months she'd been away! But it didn't matter now. No, it made no difference at all, because she *was* back, and she was *his*!
She was his claimed, his heart, his light, and his world, and he was never going to let her go. Never again.
He smiled a slightly wicked grin, and reached quickly for the phone. It was almost time, he knew, and as he dialed a very important number, he only *hoped* that things were almost ready, because... Even as his claimed, she was still too vulnerable, but as his Mate? Well, she wouldn't be *entirely* safe, but she would for *damn* sure be all his, and that-- in and of itself-- would give her a great deal more protection. And he would literally do *anything* to keep her safe... and *happy*.
// You are the flame in my heart,
You light my way in the dark,
You are the ultimate star...
You lift me up from above,
Your unconditional love
Takes me to paradise...
I belong to you...
And you... you belong to me, too...
You make my life complete...
You make me feel so sweet... //
Five weeks. It had been five weeks since he'd come to her in San Francisco, and slightly less than that since he'd brought her back home to the big, still somewhat dusty hotel they called home. She smiled softly, sitting at her desk, and smiled even more when she heard him moving about in his office. He was everything to her, and she knew it.
It could have been sad, that she was so entirely wrapped up in him; that she defined her place in the world by her relationship with him, but... it wasn't, because he did the same, and she loved him more with each day, each *hour* that passed.
She'd been so empty when she'd left him, and emptier still after she'd seen him again, but... all that was in the past, and she'd never let it happen again. No, he was her world, and not only did *she* know it, he did, too.
And that was as it should be, she told herself. No secrets, no hiding, no denying the truth. Not anymore. That was what had gotten them in trouble in the first place, and she was for damned sure going to see that it never happened again, because... she was almost entirely sure that she would die without him.
Still, he'd said he wanted to make her his Mate, and... But five weeks wasn't so long, she reminded herself; not even for a *human*! To a vampire, she supposed, it must seem like barely the blink of an eye. And she loved him. She could wait... but not forever.
// You make me feel so divine,
Your soul and mind are entwined...
Before you... I was blind...
But since, I've opened my eyes,
And with you... there's no disguise,
So I could open up my mind... //
Of course, it wasn't all about keeping her safe, he reminded himself. Hell, it wasn't even *mostly* about that! No, almost his entire reason for wanted to make her his Mate was... he didn't think he could go on for much longer if she *wasn't*! She was the *one*, after all.
His heart was so full of her now... his soul and mind, too. She'd somehow managed to leech nearly all the darkness from him, and now...? Well, now his entire world was bright, and full of possibilities, but none of that would mean a thing without her.
No, he would make her his Mate because the very idea of an eternity without being able to bask in the warm glow of her love was just... unthinkable. He would hold her to him forever, secure in the knowledge that that was where she *chose* to be... and he'd never stop showing her just how much he appreciated that... How awed he was by the fact that she had chosen to love *him*, of all people, when she could have done so much better!
He was grinning happily when he hung up the phone, and he stood and walked to his office door, his eyes resting softly on her smallish form while she worked. He didn't know how he'd never noticed it when he'd still lived in Sunnydale, but... it had always been Willow, and now it always *would* be.
// I always loved you from the start,
But I could not figure out
That I had to do it every day...
So I put away the fight,
Now I'm gonna live my life
Giving you the most in every way...
I belong to you...
And you... you belong to me, too...
You make my life complete...
You make me feel so sweet... //
She smirked, just a bit, because she could feel his eyes on her, feel the weight of his tender stare, and... it thrilled her every time, more than she could even begin to say. Her fingers danced smoothly over the keyboard in front of her, and she giggled when he groaned softly.
"Can I help you?" she asked teasingly, still staring at the screen.
// Oh, I belong to you...
I belong to you...
And you... you...
You belong to me, too...
You make my life complete...
You make me feel so sweet... //
He'd never been able to watch her work without thinking about her warm, pale fingers on his own cool flesh, and what with everything being arranged, now? It was entirely hopeless.
"Yes, Willow," he purred silkily, stepping from the doorway and moving towards her, "I think you *can* help me..." His hands rested lightly on her shoulders while his fingers stroked lightly at her skin. "Or at least, I *hope* so..."
She smelled of raspberries and coffee, and the wickedly innocent scent that was purely *her*, and he couldn't help but press his lips softly to the nape of her neck. "Can you save whatever you're working on for later?" he asked smoothly, "I have somewhere I want to take you, love..."
// Oh, I belong to you...
I belong to you...
And you... and you...
And you belong to me, too... //
"Sure," she said breathlessly, not sure of what he had in mind, but more than willing to go along with whatever it was.
Her mind was spinning while he led her to his car, and still spinning, almost an hour later, when he pulled up in front of a small house out in the middle of nowhere. "Angel...?" she said tentatively, as he helped her from the car.
// You make my life complete...
You make my life complete...
You make me feel so sweet... //
"Shhh..." was all he said before turning to her and kissing her hard. He lifted her in his arms, chuckling at the glazed look in her eyes, and he carried her swiftly to the front door, and over the threshold. "You like it, Will?" he asked softly, finally setting her down.
// I belong to you...
I belong to you... //
She stared in disbelief at the room, lit entirely by candles, and her eyes were drawn irresistibly to the large, silk covered bed in the center. She saw the cup and the knife on the small table nearby, and smelled the rosemary and verbena in the air, and her heart leapt quickly as she tried to make herself believe that it all meant what she*thought* it did. "A... Angel...?" she barely breathed.
// And you... and you...
You belong to me, too... //
"Tell me you like it, Will," he begged, slightly scared by her silence. "I didn't want to wait this long, but... I wanted things to be perfect, and... Say something, love... please!"
"I love you, my heart," she said softly, turning her wide, wondering eyes to him, "And all this...?" She gestured quickly around the room, "*Is* perfect, but... I'd be happy anywhere, as long as *you* were there..." Her eyes filled with happy tears, and she blinked, trying to hold them back.
He laughed and wrapped his strong arms tightly around her trim form. "Ah, but I wanted you to remember becoming my Mate like this... In peace, and serenity, and beauty, because... you're all of those things to me, my love, and so much more, besides..."
He released her, and took her hand, leading her quickly to the table she'd noticed before, and his heart sang as they enacted the timeless ritual that bound them together, heart, mind, and soul, for all time.
// You make my life complete...
You make my life complete...
I belong to you...
And you belong to me, too... //
End series.
