Spike sauntered into Angel's office for the daily meeting. Late as usual. He frowned noticing no one else had bothered to show. Looking at the older vampire, he noticed he was just staring out the window. Staring into.nothing. "Peaches, thought we had a meeting."
"We did. I canceled it."
"Right. Why's that?"
"Do you ever miss it, Spike?"
Spike raised his eyebrow at his cryptic Sire. "Gonna have to be a bit more specific and fill a bloke in."
"Do you miss it?"
Looking more closely at Angel, he knew he was thinking about the past. "You said that already. Miss what? The violence? The killing? The blood?" Spike paused for a moment. "You?" When he heard silence, he spoke up again. "Right then. What's this really about, Angel?"
"I used to be about something. Something good. I was about redemption."
"Still are. Fighting the good fight and all that."
"Am I? This place isn't for me. A vampire should not be a CEO."
"I told you that from the bloody start."
"Wesley, Gunn, Fred.all of them, they've put their lives in my hands. Trusted me. And this place.this place is killing us. I can feel it, sense it." Suddenly he turned his head to Spike who was watching him carefully. "Why do you stay here?"
"That seems to be the question of the hour. Would you believe the violence factor?"
"Not with you. You find violence everywhere. I need to know why you stay."
"I stay.I stay because I miss my Sire."
"He was.I'm not like Angelus."
"Angel.Angelus.it's all the same bloody thing. I miss my Sire. I miss you." Without another word, Spike turned and started to walk towards the door.
"William," Angel called out and watched as he stopped walking. "I miss you too. I miss my childe."
Spike turned his head. "I'm not leaving. Not when there's a chance I'll stand by your side once again. But you have to choose, Peaches. Do you really miss me? Do you even want me?"
