Spike watched Angel from the doorway of the training room. He took a step inside the room and leaned against the wall, folding his arms across his chest. He watched Angel while he meditated. Spike glanced over his Sire's body. He always meditated in nothing except for a pair of black silk drawstring pants. His eyes lingered on Angel's chest. Spike knew too well what Angel's body felt like. It had been a century, but you never forget what perfection feels like. Spike watched as his Sire's muscles moved gracefully with each Tai-Chi pose.
Angel could sense Spike the moment he entered the room. He could feel his childe's eyes on him, watching him. He would never admit it to Spike, but he enjoyed having his childe with him again. He waited for the casual banter to start between them but all he heard was silence. He stopped and turned around, studying Spike for a moment before he spoke. "Are we going to start with out usual trade of insults or."
Spike was a Master, but in this one moment he felt like a fledgling again. The way his Sire stood.the way he spoke, it all rushed back into his mind. "Not here to insult you, Peaches."
"Something else, then?"
"Is that what you want? Something else?"
"I want," Angel started but found the words died on his lips. He couldn't say in. He couldn't say how much he wanted Spike again. As his lover, his mate. "What do you want, William?" he growled out of his own frustration.
"I'm leaving."
"You didn't have to tell me that. I'll just see you when you get back."
"Not coming back," Spike whispered softly.
Angel could feel the blood in his body run cold with fear. Fear of losing him once again. "Why?"
Spike shrugged. "Don't really know. L.A. is only big enough for one souled vamp. You've got a nice place here, pet. You're doing good. And I'm.I'm just in your way."
Angel couldn't believe what he was really hearing. "So you're just gonna leave? Just like that?"
Spike looked into Angel's eyes seeing a range of emotions. "Do I have a reason to stay?" he asked seriously.
Angel took a step back. 'I just can't tell him.' "I guess not."
Spike nodded his head in disappointment. "I should get going."
"Bye," Angel whispered as he watched his childe leave the room. Neither one knowing they were both on the verge of loneliness because of each other.
