GOING ONCE (18/?)
"He wants her."
"No, really?"
"Don't take that sarcastic tone with me."
"Ooh, touchy touchy. She let him move in."
"I know. Isn't it sweet?"
"Not sure if sweet and Spike fit in the same sentence."
"When he's with Willow, they do. He wants her. Could even love her."
"You think? Really? It's that far gone?"
"Watch his eyes next time we're all together. They hardly ever leave
her
face. And that sappy little smile that crosses his lips when he watches
her.
Yeah, it think it's more than lust."
"I've never noticed anything."
"Big shocker there."
"Oh shut up. You probably didn't even notice until we realized she wanted
him. Easy to go back and think about those little smiles and longing
looks. I
bet I could see it now too."
"So, we know that they want each other. Might even love each other.
Strange,
that doesn't really bother me."
"Me either. They fit in a weird way that only would make sense on the
Hellmouth. Do you think they realize their feelings or are they both
still in
denial?"
"Oh, I think the realization is there. Acceptance is another thing.
Look at
how flustered our questions made Willow the other day. And did you
see her
today? She was glowing. And he's only been there a couple of days."
"I know. It's so sweet, watching them falling in love. We've been there
the
whole time watching it happen, even if we didn't realize it until recently.
So, we now come to the question at hand."
"Which is?"
"Do we sit back and let it happen or do we give them a little bit of
help?"
"Well, that's a tough question. We have the bet to consider. He's going
to be
auctioned off to some old biddy with money to spend. That might hurt
Willow
if they're just getting together."
"True. Damn, I forgot that stupid auction. Well, then, I guess we can
wait
until after the auction. If they haven't gotten their act together
by then,
we can start planning."
"Of course, doesn't mean we can't do a little nudging to get Willow
to open
her eyes to the truth."
Buffy smiled as she nodded, "Yeah, doesn't mean we can be good friends
by
helping her."
Anya laughed, "And after this silly auction is finished, we can change
those
nudges to solid pushes."
