GOOBERS
The sky was dark over Sunnydale that night. A half moon shone brightly
in the sky, casting an eerie glow on the residents below. All was silent
on the peaceful street of Monroe...all save for one apartment. From
it's
hallowed hallways, laughter and shouting could be heard, bringing a
smile to all that passed by.
"Come on, Wills. You have to come with us." Buffy said, her eyes begging
appropriately and her voice having just enough of a whine to affect
her
best friend.
"Buffy, I can't go. I'd be the fifth wheel" Willow said, her voice
determined but wavering slightly from her friend's request.
"Come on, Will. It'll be fun" Riley said, doing anything possible to
make his girlfriend happy. He knew if Willow didn't go with them, Buffy
wouldn't enjoy the evening. Since they were still trying to move past
the entire Faith ordeal, he wanted her to be happy.
"No" Willow said again, opening a large and rather dusty book. She
sneezed as the dust wafted into her nose.
"Gesundheit" Anya said, smiling. She loved saying that word. For some
odd reason, it was so much more fun than simply saying Bless You.
"Thanks" Willow muttered.
"Willow Anne, do I have to tie you up and make you go?" Buffy threatened
as the door opened.
"No one ties Red up but me" Spike said, smirking as he walked into the
watcher's apartment. He saw them glare at him as Willow blushed,
avoiding his gaze.
"There will be no tieing of anyone" Buffy said, remembering the last
time the gang had gotten together the week before. Many drinks were
had
and, upon waking, Willow had been tied to Spike. No one was still very
clear on the details to that. Also, no one could quite remember where
their clothes had gone. Talk about enough to make you swear off
drinking, she thought frowning.
"C'mon Slayer..I want to use my new leather bindings on her...please
please please? I'll be your mortal enemy until I dance on your grave..."
Spike said in a sing song voice, his tone rather bored.
"Shut up, Blondie" Riley said, rolling his eyes. His girlfriend and
the
vampire had such a hate hate relationship going on, they hadn't even
realized that they had been becoming friends.
"Make me farm boy" Spike said, his eyes narrowing. "Gonna get your John
Deere out?"
"Isn't he dead?" Anya asked.
"What?" Xander asked, suddenly laughing. "No, sweetie. Not John
Denver...John Deere. A tractor supply company..."
"OH' Anya said. "Well, they sound similar."
Willow snickered, looking back at the book.
"What's on the agenda this evening?" Spike asked, plopping on the sofa
beside Willow. He heard her heart beat pick up and smiled, remembering
the details of last weekend. He hadn't been that drunk, no matter what
they all thought...He also knew that she hadn't been either. That's
why
she had avoided him all week. Well, time for running was over. He still
wanted her and he always got what he wanted.
"We're going to a movie. Some loud action flick" Xander said.
"No, we're going to see the latest romance at the Cineview." Buffy and
Anya corrected, glaring at their respected boyfriends.
Spike snickered as he saw the resigned looks on the men's faces. Whipped
pups. "Sounds like a treat. Excuse me while I say I'd rather sit here
and torture myself with holy water."
"Fuck you" Buffy said, smiling slightly at the image of Spike burning
from the holy water.
"You wish" he remarked, looking at Willow. He took her book, making
her
look at him. "What about you Red? Off for a fun filled evening of sappy
smaltzy romance?"
Willow gulped, seeing the heat in his eyes. Her insides quivered as
the
details from last weekend flashed vividly in her mind. Spike and her.
Naked Spike. Sweat naked Spike. She nodded, "Yeah..I'm going with them."
Spike smiled, "Guess that means I get to see a flick then."
"You aren't invited" Buffy said dryly, resisting a laugh as Willow
glared at her. She knew enough to know her friend was smitten with
the
vampire. He may be a jack ass, but he did seem to like Willow.
Remembering what she had seen upon sobering up last weekend, she
grimaced. Boy, did he like Willow.
"Ah, you wound me slayer." Spike said, rolling his eyes. Like the chit
really thought he'd listen to her.
"You don't like romance movies" Willow squeaked, on one hand wanting
nothing more than to sit beside him in a darkened theater...and on
the
other wanting nothing more than to forget her reckless abandon of the
week before.
"Sure I do. I'm a man of many interests" Spike said.
"FIne. You can come, but ONLY because Willow doesn't want to be the
fifth wheel" Buffy explained, winking at Riley as she turned. She took
his hand, thankful that things between them were working out finally.
"Oh goodie, I can feel the love in this room...and you wonder why
Peaches left?" Spike added softly for Willow's ears. She stifled a
snicker as she glared at him.
Willow stood, following behind Buffy and the others. She started when
Spike took her hand, walking beside her. His finger drew circles on
her
palm as the group began the trudge to the slightly off campus movie
theater. "Stop it" she hissed, feelings making her stomach tighten.
"Stop what?" Spike asked, his lips curling slightly as he looked at
her,
the picture of innocence. "Red...."
She rolled her eyes, "What?"
"Can I share your goobers?" he asked, his eyes darkening slightly as
she
licked her lips.
"Tell you what" she said, her voice husky from his touch. She stopped,
her eyes running over him. "If you're a really good boy..."
"What?" he asked, his eyes not moving from her face and the promises
her
eyes made.
She ran her hand over his chest, playing with the buttons of his shirt,
"If you're a very very good boy..." she licked her lips again, seeing
him lean forward slightly, "I'll buy you your own box" she replied,
giggling at his stunned expression. She hurried to catch up to Buffy
and
the others, knowing he would get her back. This was fun. Just the
gang...hanging out....flirting with Spike. She felt his hand on her
back
as he caught up to her. She glanced at him and saw him smiling, his
eyes
promising retribution for her little scene. She could hardly wait.
