GREEN EYED MONSTER (11/?)
Jason looked up with a smile as the two beauties came into his club.
His
smile died as he saw the look in their eyes. "What happened to
you two?"
"Don't ask" Willow said, sliding into the booth opposite him.
"We so don't want to talk about it" Cordelia added, sitting beside
Willow.
"Anytime someone tells me that, it means they are dying to talk.
What
happened?" Jason asked, actually concerned. He had taken a liking
to the
girls and hated seeing them so unhappy. The night before they had
been
alive and excited. Something must have happened.
"They gave us up" Willow said. "Didn't even act as if they really
cared."
"Just mad that we messed with their routine." Cordelia said. "Didn't
bat
an eye when we told them we were in love with each other."
"You two are in love?" Jason said, smiling slightly. He had seen
the
attraction from the beginning when he had met them. That was the
reason
he had worked his magic the night before. Jealousy would often
make
people realize hidden emotions. "And they don't care?"
"Nope. Not a smidgeon." Willow said, her voice defeated. "What's
wrong
with me? Why can't he love me back?"
Jason sighed, glad that he had a clear schedule. He couldn't just
pat
the girls on their head and send them on their way. This problem
seemed
much deeper than antcipated. The person who had contracted him
had
assured him that the two girls were in love with the vampires and
vice
versa. Now, he wasn't so sure. But, the night before, he had seen
the
interest and emotions in the men's eyes. "Nothing is wrong with
you,
sweets. Maybe something is wrong with him."
"Nuh uh...he's perfect" Willow said defending Spike. "Well, most
of the
time."
"She's right. They're both perfect. It's us. We just aren't smart
or
attractive enough for them." Cordelia added, her voice lifeless.
Jason rolled his eyes. Humans. Stupid, silly idiotic creatures.
"Tell me
word for word what was said. I'll be the judge of whether or not
they
hate you."
An hour later, after much sidetracking from the girls, Jason finally
had
the true conversation. Well, their version at least. He almost
laughed.
The girls were as blind as the damn vampires were. So used to accepting
defeat that they didn't try to fight. "They love you."
"What?" Willow said. "You're crazy."
"They were jealous...they thought it was me. I guess hearing that
it was
each other, well, they couldn't really threaten the other girl
now could
they?" Jason pointed out.
"You're so wrong" Cordelia said. "They think of us as little sisters.
That's the reason they were upset about us getting involved with
you.
They just want us happy" she winced at the last word.
"I'm hardly ever wrong" Jason said patiently. "Give it time. It
has
taken them over a year to see their feelings for you. What's a
few more
days?"
"Maybe he's right" Cordelia said thoughtfully.
"They didn't care" Willow said. "I wish they had, but they didn't."
"They don't want to lose either of you. They feel they might if
they
interfere." Jason said.
"So, if we were to tell them say that we were moving back to Sunnydale
for instance, you think they would object and actually make a move
to
stop us?" Willow asked, wondering if that was what he meant.
"That would be an interesting experiment" Jason said with a smile.
"We could do that" Cordelia said. "I think we should move away anyway.
We can't get over these feelings for them if we see them everyday
at
work and have to constantly be in contact with them. Maybe we should
just go home."
"You're right." Willow said. "It's been hard enough without them
knowing
what we felt. Now that they know...well, I don't know if I can
face them
every single day. Sunnydale though?"
Cordelia shrugged, "We know people there. Of course, I've always
wanted
to see New Orleans..."
Willow smiled, "Either choice sounds fine. Somewhere far away from
them
and their knowing little smirks would be great. Besides, as long
as I
still have you that is something."
"That is something major" Cordelia said, kissing Willow's cheek.
She
smiled at a bewildered Jason. "Thank you!"
Jason just looked at them and nodded. What the hell had just happened?
He had meant for them to lie to get a reaction. He didn't want
to drive
them away from the men they loved. If his contractor found out
about
this, his days would be numbered. Fuck. What was he suppose to
do? The
vampires. That was the answer. He could go and tell them most of
the
story...leave it in their hands. If they truly did care for the
girls,
they could stop them. He'd be safe. That was a good idea. That
would be
his plan. He reached for the phone to call Savannah and find out
where
their office was. He had his own ass to save this time.
