DATING

"What?" Spike demanded, looking at Willow.

She looked back, her expression serious. "I don't think we should sleep together for awhile."

"Why the bloody hell not?"

"Well, we can sleep. Just no sex." she said, nodding her head at the end.

"I repeat, why the bloody hell not?" Spike said, trying to be patient.

"Spike! You think I'm only with you for sex. How can I convince you that I love you if we are always having sex? It won't work. I know about your past. I understand that it will take you some time to trust me. I'm willing to put my needs and wants on hold so that our relationship will work." She paused, taking a breath.

He slowly smiled. "That is the stupidest thing I've heard. And trust me, in the hundred some odd years I've been around, I've heard some pretty stupid things."

She hit him on his arm. "Be serious. I love you. YOU. Spike aka William the Bloody. Not your body. Not what you make me feel when I'm here in bed. YOU. Until you can accept that and agree that I'm serious, this relationship won't work. I really want this to work." She finished quietly.

He groaned. "I repeat that this is stupid. But, I'm willing to hear you out. What do you recommend oh wise one?"

"We need to date. We just skipped straight to the hot steamy sex without the getting to know you part. I'm not saying that we'll never have sex, god forbid. I just want to wait until I can tell you that I love you and you will accept it, with your mind and your heart. So, will you go to a movie with me tomorrow?"

He smiled. "Yes. I still don't think is going to do anything except keep us both frustrated, but I'm willing to try it. So, you say we'll start tomorrow?" he asked, running his hand over stomach.

She felt the familiar tightening of her body at his touch...the rush of desire. "Tomorrow." she agreed breathlessly as his lips captured hers.
