WATCHING

Willow watched the emotions playing across Spike's face. He had been watching her for the last week. She had first thought she was imagining it...then decided it must be wishful thinking....but this time she had caught him in the act. She couldn't figure out why. Since his return, she had been the only one of the gang to accept his help at face value. They had even began a tentative friendship, if you could call it that. She had been falling for him gradually, the lust helping alot. She had felt THAT when he first came to Sunnydale, with her. Willow couldn't bring herself to think of his dark haired lover. She knew she could never compete with Dru, so she just tried to forget. Now, he was changing things. He was starting to look at her like Xander looked at any pretty girl....like Buffy looked at John Cusack....there was lust in his eyes and it was for her. She knew she was crazy. There was no way someone like Spike would ever want someone like her. Hell, even Oz hadn't stayed with her. The hellmouth had finally gotten to her. It was making her delusional. She watched as Spike suddenly noticed her gaze. He smiled a naughty smile that made her insides quiver....full of promises. She watched as he winked at her and tilted his head slightly to the side, as if he were waiting for her response. She hastily got up from the table and turned her back towards him. She couldn't let her delusions become known. Buffy would have her checked into the Psych ward at Sunnydale General for sure if she knew that she was lusting for the enemy. Willow didn't want to wear a straitjacket. They looked so uncomfortable. Determined, she turned back around and headed out of the library, ignoring the smirking blond.

She heard a chuckle and the soft promise, "Soon, kitten....."

Fate didn't know what to do about that damn girl. Here had been the perfect opportunity. Did she do anything rash? NO! She ignored it. Hell, it had taken him several hours of intense work to get the vampire's mind in any sort of normal order. He had even removed the need for casual violence. And this was how he repaid? She walks out. Why did she find it so hard to believe that Spike would desire her? Want her? Here he thought the vampire was the one with the problems. He decided he needed to look into Miss Willow's mind. Get rid of that inferiority complex....give her a bit of self esteem....he could see the fire she had hidden....he just needed to help her along a bit...he knew Spike would make a move soon. The blond was getting bored with the waiting. Fate knew Willow would need to be ready to accept the advance and move this game to the next level. Damn, he thought he was going to have the weekend off....looked like he was needed here more.
