Part 1
"Feel that sun. Now this is what
I call a perfect winter day," Charlotte
said, taking in the bright blue sky above her.
"Definitely made this trip worth the
headaches of actually having to work
some," Miranda replied, the red head glad that her business with that
weird
law firm was finally over. She didn't like the vibes that were
coming from
some of the clients that had been going in and out of the offices while
she
was there and she was grateful that she no longer had to go there.
Instead
she wanted to enjoy the beautiful Los Angeles weather with her friends,
while doing a bit of shopping.
"But, you have to remember, if not for
your work, we would not be here
right now, taking in this great March weather. We'd still be
in New York,
dealing with all that snow and cold," Samantha mentioned. "They
did have
the decency of paying for this little excursion of ours."
"That's our Sam, always thinking about
the practical," joked the fourth
member of the group, Carrie. "Who cares why we're here, let's
just be glad
that we are here."
"What, like you all are going to disagree
with me?" The blonde asked.
"When was the last time any of us have actually allowed ourselves to
go on a
real vacation?" Carrie was about to reply when Samantha stopped
her. "That
weekend with Bigg does not count. All you did was shack up in
a hotel room
on Park Avenue. That was not going away. That was sex in a hotel
room while
you're apartment was getting painted." Carrie shut her mouth, knowing
that
her friend was right.
"Okay, so this job did have a few perks,"
Miranda commented. "And one of
them is the fact that I got done everything I needed to do with a few
days
to spare. What do you suggest we do?"
"I say we go to a really hip club, pick
up a couple of cute men and fuck
their brains out,' Samantha replied, blunt as ever.
"God, Sam, do you ever think of anything
other than sex?" Charlotte asked.
"I thought that was Carrie's job."
"Hey, I only write about it," Carrie
said.
"You know I do, honey, but it's kind
of rude to always talk about how much
money your partner makes." Samantha said, completely serious.
"You are so bad," Carrie told her friend,
smiling. "I'm all for the
clubbing thing. Not necessarily the picking up guys and then fucking
them
though."
"Don't tell me that you are still upset
because of Bigg being engaged,"
Miranda rolled her eyes.
"I'm not upset," the three women just
looked at the Carrie. "Okay, so I'm
a little upset. The bastard always told me that he would never
be able to
get married again and then he gets engaged to some little twenty-something
that he met in France. I would say I have the right to be upset."
"And I would say I agree with you,"
Samantha told her. "I also say that it
isn't something that a good roll in the hay wouldn't take care
of. It
always works for me."
"Sex makes everything okay with you,"
Carrie replied."
"Only good sex, honey. Only good
sex."
"And what exactly does bad sex do for
you?" Charlotte asked.
"Makes me work harder." The four
friends all laughed at that comment.
"Okay, so are we going to go clubbing
or what? I, for one, am in the mood
to meet some eligible California bachelors while we're here," asked
Miranda.
"Works for me," Carrie said.
"Same here," came Charlotte.
"As long as there are handsome, single
and rich men, I am there," replied
Samantha. The four women laughed as they continued shopping.
Doyle clutched his head as the vision
hit him. One minute he had been
sitting there, flirting with Cordelia, they next his head felt like
it
exploded. He caught glimpses of dirty blonde hair, a vampire
and a major
fight.
"Doyle, what is it?" Cordelia asked,
concerned the half demon.
"Vision. Whiskey." Cordelia
went and grabbed the bottle of alcohol that
Doyle always kept around the office. He took a long gulp of it.
"What did you see?"
"Blonde woman in a club," Doyle grabbed
a piece of paper, quickly writing
down the information that was in his vision before he forgot any of
it.
Cordelia supported him as she watch Angel enter the outer office, waiting
to
see what Doyle had seen. Doyle handed the paper to him.
Angel glanced at
it.
"Carrie Bradshaw. Club Temptation,"
Angel read. "Is this everything?"
"Yeah, that's the important stuff.
Didn't recognize the vamps that were
there. They felt like newbies. Oh yeah, and she had friends
with her."
"Okay, looks like we're going clubbing
tonight,:" Angel said as Cordelia
squealed in delight.
"Yes. About time you took me somewhere,
brood boy," she teased the
vampire.
"Cordelia, it's not exactly a date,"
Angel reminded her. She shushed him.
"Date, schmate. As long as I get
to go to a really hot club. That's all
that's important." Angel had to laugh at his girlfriend's antics.
It was
one of the things that he loved about her. And one of the things
that made
Doyle continually flirt with her, even though he knew nothing would
ever
come of it. "Considering how little you like to go
out at all."
"I prefer our indoor activities a bit
more than anything we can do at a
club," Angel replied, a seductive grin on his face as he ran his eyes
over
Cordelia's body. She felt herself blush at the innuendo present
in his
comment. Ever since the two of them had gotten together, Angel
had
increasingly found himself cracking jokes and laughing. He was
definitely a
different vampire than when he was in Sunnydale and with Buffy.
"I enjoy them as well, but I still like
to go out and show off my handsome
lover occasionally," Cordelia said as she walked over to Angel and
wrapped
her arms around him. She leaned over and placed a light kiss
on his lips
before pulling back from him. "So, can we at least pretend that
this isn't
just going to be you protecting some other woman?"
"For you, kitten, anything."
"God, can the two of ya get a room or
something?" Doyle groaned, amusement
in his eyes. "All this sweetness between ya makes me need insulin
or
something."
"Jealous much?" Angel grinned at his
friend. He knew that Doyle had had a
crush on Cordelia when he first met her, but that he was more than
willing
to accept the relationship between the former cheerleader and the souled
vampire. Even going so far as having the Powers That Be make
Angel's soul
permanent so that the two of them could be together in every sense
of the
word.
"You know it, you lucky bastard," Doyle
answered. "Can't see what Cordy
sees in you."
"I can make you a list," Cordelia offered.
"That's quite all right," Doyle said.
The teasing between the three people
in the office had become natural. Not a day went by when Angel
didn't tease
Doyle about his former crush on his lover. And not a day went
by without
Doyle questioning Cordelia's sanity for loving said vampire.
"I think I've
heard all the reasons you like him, more times than I care to remember,
thank you very much."
"You're welcome very much," Cordelia
replied.
"So what's the plan boss?"
"Go to the club, find this Carrie person
and help her when the time comes,"
Angel answered. "And let Cordelia have a little fun in the process."
"Yes. Maybe I'll even get you
on the dance floor," Cordelia grinned.
"I don't dance," Angel growled at her.
"No dance, no anything else either,"
Cordelia threatened sweetly, batting
her eyelashes at the handsome man.
"I'll dance. I'll dance," he replied,
throwing his arms in the air,
surrending to the brunette beauty in front of him. "Just don't
threaten me
with that."
"And I thought the Slayer had you whipped,
Peaches. I see Sax has you
wrapped around her finger even tighter then the last time I was here,"
came
a voice from the front door.
"Spike," Cordelia shouted, running over
to the blonde vampire, wrapping him
in a hug.
"Hey there, Delia," he said, returning
the hug with one of his own. "So
did you actually just threaten dear old dad with no sex if he didn't
dance
with you?"
"Yup. Proud of me?"
"Oh yeah, pet," Spike grinned at his
sire's mate. Spike then turned to the
other men in the office. "Hello Doyle, Angel."
"Spike, what are you doing here?" Doyle
asked. "Last we heard, you were
still in Sunnydale helping Buffy and the others."
"Took a little vacation from Sunnyhell.
Damn Initiative morons were
getting way too close for my comfort," Spike explained. It had
been almost
a year since the Initiative had captured Spike and he escaped and,
in that
time, he and Angel had mended quite a bit of the bad blood between
them.
Even Cordelia and Doyle had learned to like the bleached blonde vampire,
often helping them out when there was an especially nasty demon in
LA.
"And, let me guess, little miss likes
to kill, was hassling you about you
and Willow being together," Cordelia stated, knowing exactly how the
blonde
slayer felt about Spike and Willow dating.
"Yeah, that had a bit to do with it.
Willow would have come with me, but
it's finals."
"Well, you came just in time, Spike,"
Doyle told him. "Had a nice little
vision before you came in. Want in?"
"Like you even need to ask. You
know how much I love a bit of violence,'
Spike answered.
"Well then let's get ready."
Part 2
Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha walked into Club Temptation
dressed
to kill. They looked around approvingly at the mix of people, with
Samantha
quickly spotting quite a few possibilities men wise. They found themselves
a table and ordered their usual. Four cosmopolitans.
"What about that one?" Samantha said, pointing towards a man with blonde
hair and wearing a t shirt and jeans, along with a sports jacket. "He
looks
just right for a quick fuck while we're here."
"Too much a surfer for my taste," Charlotte noted.
"Too young for me," Miranda added. "Did that once and we all remember
how
well that turned out." Everyone nodded their heads as they remembered
the
lawyer's ill fated romance with the bartender, Steve.
"What about you, Carrie," Sam asked, trying to cajole her friend into
finding someone, if only for a short time, to get her mind off of her
ex-lover. "How about giving him a go?"
"I already told you. I'm not looking for a guy," she answered. "I'm
just
here to have a good time with my girlfriends." She turned back to Samantha.
"If you think he's such a catch, why don't you go after him your own
self?"
"Because, honey, there are too many fish in the sea to go after the
first
one you see," she drawled. Everyone looked over at Charlotte when they
heard her take in a breathe.
"What is it?" Carrie asked. Charlotte didn't answer, only nodding towards
the door. The four woman turned to see what had made their friend
speechless and, after seeing what had done it, quickly joined her in
that
state. There standing in the doorway of the club were two of the most
handsome men the women had ever seen. One was the epitome of tall,
dark and
handsome and he was wearing a black shirt, leather pants and a long
black
duster. His companion was slightly shorter with bleached blonde hair,
wearing a deep red shirt, black denim jeans and a duster also. All
in all,
they were ever woman's fantasy and the four women weren't the only
ones to
notice.
"Someone pinch me, because I think I'm dreaming," Samantha muttered
as she
saw the two men make their way into the club. "Miranda, you're the
lawyer.
Isn't it illegal for men that cute to be walking around alone?"
"I don't know, but if they get arrested, I'll gladly defend them,"
the
red-head replied, her eyes taking in how well the leather jeans fit
the
taller man's body. "Pro bono." The two men looked around the club,
seemingly taking in everything when they spotted the four women and
headed
in their direction.
"Oh please, tell me that they are heading this way," Carrie, who had
turned
away as soon as she had noticed them staring at their table, asked
Charlotte.
"They're coming this way," her friend informed her. The two men arrived
at
the table.
Hi," the dark one said. "My name's Angel and this is my friend, William.
We were wondering if you ladies would like some company."
"Always," Samantha said, pulling out the extra chair beside her. Angel
made a subtle nod to Spike, indicating that he should take it, while
he
moved over towards Carrie, to sit beside her. He glanced over at the
club's
entrance and saw Cordelia and Doyle enter. Angel's breathe, if he had
any,
would have been taken away by the sight of his lover dressed in a slinky
red
number that showed off all of her assets perfectly. He was tempted
to say
screw the vision and go ravish Cordelia right there in the club. .
Cordelia saw Angel and Spike already at the table and gave him a slight
smile. While she wasn't happy about him being by the side of another
woman,
let alone the flirting that she knew he was going to have to do, she
wasn't
going to let her jealousy get in the way of what had to be done. She
was
confident in her relationship with Angel and that was why she had been
the
one to suggest that he and Spike should enter alone and try and pick
up the
women, knowing that would probably be the best way to protect them.
Angel
had argued with her over that, saying that Doyle should do it until
Cordelia
pointed out that, while Doyle did have his good points, he wasn't one
to
inspire a woman into drooling, so Angel reluctantly agreed to her plan.
The waiter brought the women's drinks and took Angel and Spike' order,
both
vampires having ordered a Yling Yling lager. "So ladies, whose company
do
we have the pleasure of sharing tonight?" Angel inquired.
"Well, I'm Carrie."
"Samantha."
"Miranda."
"Charlotte."
"Lovely names for such lovely ladies," Spike flirted, using all the
charms
he had at his disposal and drawing upon a few new ones. "You don't
seem to
be from around her though. Much to sophisticated." The four women giggled
like schoolgirls.
"We're from New York," Miranda answered.
"Manhattan to be exact," supplied Samantha, rubbing her hand over Spike's
denim covered leg. "Miranda had to come to LA for some business and
we
though we would join her. You know, get out of that cold wintry weather
and
into the warm sun."
"Well I'm certainly glad you did," Angel said, before turning to face
the
red-head. "So what kind of business are you in that would bring you
here?"
"I'm a lawyer. Maybe you would have heard of the firm I was working
with.
They're pretty big," Miranda said. "Wolfram & Hard." Angel and
Spike
looked at each other as they recognized the name of the law firm that
had
given the souled vampire so much trouble over the past year.
"Yeah, I've heard of them, but I tend to try and steer clear of lawyers,"
Angel stated. "Unless they are beautiful ones like yourself, of course."
"Thank you," Miranda said, blushing a bit. "So what do you do Angel?"
"I'm a private detective," he answered. "Spike here helps me every
once in
awhile when I need it."
"Wow, a private dick," Samantha purred. "That sounds exciting."
"It can be if I meet the right people," Angel answered back. Angel
felt
Carrie tense at his side. "Are you okay?"
""Yeah, I'm fine," she assured him, her eyes riveted to the bar. "Its
just
that I thought I saw someone I knew."
"Who?" Charlotte asked her friend.
"Bigg," was the one word reply that caused all four women to stiffen.
Angel and Spike shared a look wondering who Bigg was and why he had
this
kind of affect on them.
"Where?" Miranda asked.
"Over by the bar. Next to that leggy brunette in the red dress." Everyone
at the table looked over towards the bar at the man who was next to
Cordelia.
"Who is he?" Spike questioned.
"Carrie's ex and a real shit," Samantha answered, before turning to
face
Carrie. "Wonder where the little soon to be missus, since we know it
isn't
the brunette."
"Don't know. I just can't believe that he's actually here in LA, let
alone
in the same club as us," Carrie exclaimed.
"Do you want to get out of here?" Charlotte asked her friend, concerned
over how she was reacting towards seeing the man that had broken her
heart
yet again. Carrie shook her head.
"No. I mean, it's only logical that we would run into each other. Okay,
granted I didn't think it would be in a club in LA, but I would have
to see
him sometime. I did tell him we could be friends after all." Just then
Bigg turned around and caught sight of Carrie and the others. His face
showed his shock at the sight of his ex-girlfriend. He started to make
his
way over to her when he was pushed by the crowd into a couple of others
that
were standing at the bar. They turned to him and Angel and Spike could
tell
that they had just found their vampires. They quickly stood up, signaling
to Cordelia and Doyle their discovery. The three angry men, who now
wore
his drink on their tailored jackets began to advance on the man, before
being blocked by Angel and Spike.
"Is there a problem here?' Angel inquired.
"Nothing that concerns you," the seeming leader of the trio answered.
"Well, you see, this man is a friend of a friend and she would rather
him
not get hurt." Angel saw Carrie approach form the corner of his eye,
her
concern for Bigg and Angel apparent. "So why don't we all just cool
off and
let things slide."
‘"Why don't we not let things slide," the vampire replied, going into
game
face. Carrie shrieked as she saw the vampire's face. She watched as
his
two companions also changed faces and looked on in horror as they attacked
Spike and Angel. She and Bigg quickly got out of the way of the escalating
fight. They looked back and noticed two other people had joined the
first
three and were positive that Angel and Spike were about to get killed
when
they saw the woman that had been standing next to Bigg join the fight
at
Angel's side, with what appeared to be a stick in her hand. Angel grabbed
the one vampire he was fighting, throwing him towards Cordelia who
quickly
staked him. By the time he was dust, she had already moved on to the
next
vampire. Spike, meanwhile had his hands full with two vampires. One
grabbed him from behind, pinning his arms at his side while the other
began
to rain punches into his midsection. Suddenly Spike felt his arms go
free.
He quickly grabbed the vampire in front of him and broke his neck.
He
turned to see Doyle behind him.
"Thanks mate."
"Anytime." They turned back to the fight just in time to see Cordelia
and
Angel dust the last two vampires. "And you didn't want to go clubbing,
Angel."
"What was I thinking?" Angel grinned, putting his arm over a heavily
breathing Cordelia. "I would have missed out on all this fun."
"Remind me the next time I want to go out that I would be better off
staying home," the brunette muttered. Angel kissed her.
"Anytime, sweetling. Anytime."
"Ummm, excuse me." Carrie said quietly, causing all four people to
turn
and face her and Bigg, who were quickly joined by a confused Samantha,
Miranda and Charlotte. "Can you please tell me what the hell just happened
here?" Cordelia looked over at the woman and the man by her side before
approaching her.
"Hi, I'm Cordelia and you could say that I work with Angel." Spike
snorted
earning himself a glare from the ex-cheerleader. "Why don't we go someplace
where we can talk. Someplace a little more private." The five people
nodded their heads and followed the other four out of the club. Angel
had
his arm around Cordelia's shoulders and as they exited the club, he
heard
her whisper. "So much for a night out on the town." And he vowed to
make it
up to her in spades.
