Willow walked along the beach, the cool night air chilling her enough that she wore a shawl with her summer dress, with no shoes on her feet, she could feel the cool sand between her toes. She had been here forever, living by the coast, one of her many childhood dreams eventually had come true. Looking up into the dark sky, she could see all the stars that shone just for her.

Moving with supernatural grace, he stood in the sand and watched his love walk slowly along the beach. His eyes taking in the sheer elegance of her form, he couldn’t remember a time when she had looked so beautiful or free from herself. He knows she can sense him now, slowly moving towards her, already straining to reach out and touch the one thing that he has been
looking for, for so long. She slowly turns around and he takes a deep unnecessary breath as he catches the first glimpses of eyes that could’ve been cut straight from emeralds.

She turns around and looks at the one thing she had been running away from, after all this time, she had hoped he would have stopped looking and stopped caring about her. She had made it easily enough by herself

When he looks into her eyes, the small smile that had graced his features soon fell to a frown when he saw the raw and painful emotions that occupied her once joyful and bright eyes. “Willow, how did this happen” he watches as her eyes seem to travel over his face, recapturing the image in her memory

-I didn't come this far
-For you to make this hard for me.
-And now you want to ask me "how"?

She hears his voice and has to force herself not to run into his arms, the first familiar face she had seen in ages and there she stood by herself, again. She looks at his face, how he has changed yet still stayed the same, the smile that graced his face before was like a sunshine she had never seen before, and the frown that followed was the sad and lonely moon. The
question spins in her head. “How?” That is one of the hardest questions she has ever had to answer, its like asking why people live just to grow old and die, why they live just to make themselves and their loved ones a better place for when they are no more on this earth. Why something so precious as love is so hard to find, but if you are lucky enough to find it, how can
it hurt just as much?

-It's like-
-How does your heart beat, and why do you breathe?
-How does your heart beat, and why do you breathe?

She seems to find my question hard to answer, I watch, her eyes seem to move past me and look out into the darkness. After a while I let my gaze follow hers, the sea is calm, no waves to destroy the peaceful tranquillity of it all, how can something be so calm when inside I feel a thousand stormy seas making my chest hurt. When I am looking onto the sheer blackness of the ocean at night, I fail to realise she has moved away and is walking back from where she came.

She waits till he looks away, she loves the sea at night, it reminds her of herself, so calm on the surface, but underneath you never know what is happening. It reminds her that she’s not the only one with secrets, and that she’s not the only one alone in
this world. Slowly turning around and heading back the way she came, he didn’t seem to notice her retreating form.

I yell for her to stop. Running on the sand may be difficult for some but I’ve faced much worse, and I would face it again just to keep her with me. I watch as she slowly turns around and shows me her beautiful face

He’s yelling at her to stop, spinning around angrily she shouts “Why? Why did you have to find me…I was fine alone”

-Why did you come here?
-You weren't invited.

She’s yelling at me, the fire I once loved to see is now being shone towards me. If my heart had been beating then I know it would have stopped and broke into pieces that would have rivalled the stars in the sky. “I lov…”

She knows what he is about to say and she thinks it will kill her, to hear him mutter those words she hadn’t heard in so long. Her heart twists painfully in her chest as her once quiet voice raises over his and he sound of the sea that has lost its calm “Don’t even think of saying those words…everything was fine…I was fine…why did you have to come here”

The words die on my lips that are dry from the salty air, I moisten them so that I can answer her question, I should be grateful that at least she is talking to me. “Why did I have to come here...why do you think?”

-You were on the outside
-Stay on the outside.
-And now you want to ask me "why"?

Why does she think he is here? Hadn’t she been asking herself why anyone would come and find her for ages? Did she really want to stay hidden, she can’t remember anymore, if she wanted to stay hidden or if she wanted to go home. Home, what is home if not a place to live where you know people and they know you? But what makes a place a home, her apartment now, is that a home or just a place she lives. Her world seems to shake as she thinks over yet another simple question

-It's like –
-How does your heart beat, and how do you cry?
-How does your heart beat?

He watches, as she seems to puzzle over the question. Why was he here, to get her back, to see what was keeping her away from him. He still didn’t know the main reasons, he only knew that it was right he be here at this time. He didn’t really allow himself to believe in fate, enough things had happened in his life, that he didn’t want to know if they had happened for a reason or if they were his own fault.

-And there are some things that I'd like to figure out.
-There are some things that I can do without

She looks back at his face, the frown was now covered by…confusion? Had he finally realised how stupid he had been finding her, no one wanted her anymore, not even herself. Her so-called friends had ignored her at the end, rather ignoring her then facing the truth. How many times she had tried to go back, writing letters that would stay unsent even to this day.

-Like you, and your letters that go on forever,
-And you, and the people that were never friends.

He watches her again, as she seems to drift away, maybe she is, drifting to some place where he will never find her. His eyes sting as he thinks of a world without her, if he were to let the tears that well in his eyes free, he feared that they would never stop. Stepping closer, he watched as her shoulders shook with silent sobs.

She allowed herself a moment in his embrace before pulling away, his tears now flowing freely, she couldn’t bare to watch him cry. She turned her tear stained face away to gaze at the now stormy seas, where the calmness of before was gone only to be
replaced by something that was loud and dangerous, and something she wanted to run away from.

-With all the things that you could be,
-You never could learn how to be me.
-And now you want to ask me "how"?

“How did this happen?” he looks at the unsettling sea as the question that has been plaguing him forever flows from his breathless lips. “We could’ve still been together”

She turns away from the sea, the sight of it reminding her of the situation she is trying to forget. “I told you…we need to move on” he’s moving closer, her shaking has stopped the tears drying up as she gazes into the depths of his old as age eyes. “How could we have been together…how could you have seen me like this”. He goes to embrace her again, snarling she steps back, this shocks him enough so that he stops in his advances and just looks at her.

He stands still just looking at the beauty that is her, he steps forward and pulls her towards him, letting his true features shine through “Because you saw me, and you didn’t pull away” he let his fingers run down her face

“I can never be like you…this isn’t me” the tears fall again, and she sighs as his fingers collect the droplets.

The salty beads fall along his fingers and cover his hands with their silkiness. He looks into her amber eyes, the tears making them shimmer like an expensive gold, leaning down, he places a kiss on her lips, purring as her tongue runs along his elongated teeth, that at any other time would be hidden away in fear. Returning the gesture, he makes a slit and shares his life with her, she pulls away but to his relief stays in his arms, he runs his fingers over her face again, recording the beauty that is Willow. “No your not like me…but I wouldn’t want you to be” placing his hand over her non beating heart, he smiles as she leans closer.  “You are more than that…you are my love, a love that I want to see forever, I would easily give up everything that I have, everything that I am just to see you, like this and any other way you want to be…I love you”. His lips claim her again, as his
fingers run through the silky strands of her hair, pulling back, she smiles and he knows that he would gladly live with her smile and the moonlight, and pay no attention to the sun he hadn’t seen for century’s

She smiles as the pain in her entire being seems to fade, turning her gaze to the sea, she leans back into his embrace as they both stare out into the now calm and peaceful sea.
