'Speech'
<Thought>
Buffy moved silently through the
trees, stake in hand. She was sure 2 vamps had come this way. The voices
stopped her: her best friend and another all too familiar voice. Peering
out of the foliage she gasped at the sight of the bleach blonde vampire
holding an apprehensive Willow, her back to him, his right arm clamped
across the red-head's upper body.
They seemed deep in conversation,
but the blonde slayer couldn't hear all they were saying.
'I'd kill for some……'
'Don't say that………stop before……'
'……bite … head off……'
Willow struggled round to face
her capture. 'If Buffy finds out what you're doing, she'll stake you.'
His hands gripped tighter about
the small girls wrists and pulled her up till they were at eye level. 'Well
we won't let that happen will we pet.'
Buffy winced. She couldn't hear
any more but her friend was shaking her head as if in despair. The slayer
dug her fingernails into the palms of her hands and thought slayerish thoughts,
involving all sorts of Giles' most painful weapons. Spike was supposed
to be on their side now, but this sounded like blackmail. Despite wanting
to hack the vampire insides out the girl couldn't move. She was rooted
to the ground along with the tree that hid her.
'……or I'll bite you'
'Bastard!' Willow exclaimed, pulling
away from the menacing vampire and running towards the park gates.
Spike looked up at the sky, then
rammed his fist into the nearest tree.
'I got one, I got one!'
Buffy spun round. 'Xander!'
'Hey what's up Buff? Did you get
them?'
'Huh?'
'You know, the blood-sucking dead
guys you protect us all from'
Buffy blinked back to reality.
'Uh, no, they got away.' She pushed Xander in the direction he'd come.
'Lets go home.' Looking over her shoulder she saw Spike had gone. <Well
Spike. Lets see what you're up to. No-one hurts my friends.>
~~~X~~~
'Buffy. Are you even listening to
me'
'Hwa? Buffy looked back from her
own little world to see her watcher frowning at her
'You haven't been listening to
me have you. You really have to concentrate, this may be important.'
Buffy had been watching her best
friend all day, trying to figure out what to do. <I could confront Willow
and ask her what's going on, but she may be in danger. Spike's threatening
enough as it is and I don't want him to hurt her.> She thought of calling
Angel, but he 'n Spike would only get into a fight. She couldn't read willow's
face. It seemed apprehensive but not like she wanted to tell anyone what
was the matter.
It was only clear to someone who
knew to notice it, but the witch had been avoiding the vampire all evening.
She looked out of the corner of her eye to see Willow disappear out of
site in the stacks. Damn. She was going to have to shift position again
in order to keep an eye on her friend. Xander was obliviously munching
donuts and Spike was <oh God> following Willow. She jumped off the table.
'No.' A hand grabbed her wrist.
'You will finish answering my questions first.' Giles said. Buffy gave
him a pained sulky look and sat down. <Oh good Spike's back with a book.
Maybe he didn't speak to Willow after all.
~~~~~
The night wore on
Research
Weapons training
Weapon mending
Everyone had left. Much to her
relief Xander took Willow home, and Spike didn't go till later. <At
least she's safe>
More training – she was still angry
though.
More weapon mending – she needed
to decide what to do.
~~~~~
It was 2am.
Buffy stood infront of Willow's
house.
<No. No need to scare the girl.>
She knew how timid her friend could be.
<Go straight to the source.>
~~~~~
The slayer stood outside Spike's
door, Stake in one hand, spray gun of holy water in the other. She braced
herself. She knew she was doing the right thing. This was the only way
to protect her friend. She kicked the door in:
'SPIKE, I know you're here! What
the hell are you doing to Willow'
The Slayer strode into the living
room.
Spike fell off the ches-longue
and tried to cover himself with a cushion.
Willow went bright red, her eyes
wide in shock, and tried to hide behind Spike as her friend saw them.
Buffy turned and sat down heavily
on a small table.

THE PREVIOUS NIGHT IN THE PARK:
'You've been avoiding me' a familiar
voice said
'That's observant of you'
'Why are you mad with me?'
'Well let me think' the girl glared
at him 'do you actually want this or are you just having some fun at my
expense!?'
'Why the hell would you think that?
I'm here aren't I, and I haven't run around telling the whole of Sunnyhell
you're an easy lay or anything'. Willow looked hurt. Spike wrapped his
arms around her pulling her close to him. 'Look, this has been going on
for weeks now, and it's great. But there's not much we can do with that
bloody slayer breathing down my neck.'
For nearly three weeks, the witch
and vampire had been sharing passionate interludes right under everyone's
noses. The problem was keeping it a secret.
'When we finally find somewhere
quiet, within a few moments there's that pesky slayer friend of yours saying
'Willow where are you'. I have to run cause if she saw me with my hand
up your skirt I'd be dust before you could say a word.' He turned her round
and began to massage one of her shoulders. 'I'd kill for some time together.'
'Don't say that' fearing he would.
'I enjoy the time we have, but… you always stop before I come!'
'Stop wearing panties and I'd be
quicker.' He whispered in her ear Willow squeaked at the thought and turned
to face him.
'I know how you feel, believe me.
I'm just about ready to bite someone's head off. Literally.'
'Just don't do anything stupid.
If Buffy finds out what you're doing she'll stake you.'
His hands gripped tighter about
the small girls wrists and pulled her up till they were at eye level. 'Well
we won't let that happen will we pet.'
'Do we have time now?'
'No, she'll be back in a minute.'
The redhead shook her head in annoyance
'Go on or I'll bite you.'
'Bastard!' Willow exclaimed.
'Later. I promise.'
Pulling away from her lover, the
girl ran towards the park gates.
BACK AT SPIKE'S:
Three minds worked simultaneously
<Ok. Don't answer that. >

I hope you like this. I really couldn't
think of a good reaction for each of them. If anyone has any ideas to send
