"I dont know what went wrong. We did everything the spell called for down to
a T." Willow frowned.

On the other end of the phone line, Xander replied, "Well...maybe it was
just natures way of telling you that its not meant to be. That your
suppossed to be with someone else."

Willow scuffed. "Yeah, right. I never do anything right."

"Willow, you know thats not true. Your very talented. And you did
that...fire thing...sure, it started raining right away...but we said that
wasnt you, remember?"

Willow grinned slightly as her friend of so many years tried to comfort her.
"Yeah...its just...i wanted this so bad. I...I love him."

Xander grimaced. "Are you sure?"

"How many times are you going to ask me that?"

"As many times as it takes for me to understand it. I dont, for the record."

He lit another cigarette as he watched her on talking on the phone. She
smiled and laughed as the one on the other end made a joke to lighten the
mood. He frowned. He wanted to make her smile. It was always the Moron who
made her smile. Then it was the Dog Boy. Then the Witch. Now we're back
where we started, with the Moron. He hoped she wasnt falling for him again.
He saw her roll her eyes, something she did often when Xander let something
slip that he probably shouldnt have said. She then grinned and said
something softly into the phone. He took dropped his cigarette on the ground
and sneaked up closer to her window. It was open. He could hear her now.

"Xander, when you chose to date Cordelia....i freaked. But then i accepted
it. Sorta. Then you chose Anya. And i freaked then accepted it again. Why
cant you do the same for me?"

"Im trying, Wills. I really am." Xander replied, softly.

"Now slightly off subject...do you love Anya?" Willow asked, not sure which
answer she wanted.

Xander didnt answer for a long minute. On the other end of the line, Xander
was looking over at the sleeping form of his girlfriend, Anya. He whispered,
"Yeah...i really think i do."

"Oh...well, thats good. And she loves you. Unlike someone i know in a
different situation.."

Outside, Spike struggled to see Willow without being detected, when he
accidently banged his head against the side of her house. Willow froze.

"Xander," she whispered, "i hear something outside."

"Whatever you do, *dont* check it out."

"Dont worry, im just going to look out the window."

"willow...willow..." could be heard slightly as Willow set the phone down.
She slowly walked to the window and peered outside. Spike crouched down, to
not be seen, and lost his balance, falling before the red head.

"Spike!?! What are you doing out here?" Willow suddenly seemed to panick.
"And what did you hear?"

He picked himself up and looked into her green eyes. "I was..just...out for
a walk."

"Out for a walk. Outside my window."

"Well...i was passing by. And saw your light on. Thought i'd come see how
you were. You've looked kinda of down lately, luv."

"I....Im fine." Willow said, perplexed.

"Good. Good." Spike suddenly grew an interest in the ground.

"Did you..." Willow started, but then stoped.

"What, luv?"

"Did you want to come in?"

Spike stared in awe of her. "Uh, yeah. Ok."

She smiled. "OK, go to the front door."

He smiled back and headed to the door to wait for her. A second later she
opened the door, smiling. "Come on in, Spike."

He grinned and stepped inside. He glanced over to where she had been on the
phone and saw that she had hung up on the Moron. He prided himself on that
fact. That she had hung up on her best friend because he was there.

"So..." Willow started, and leaned against a wall.

"So..." Spike mimicked and slowly walked toward her. He put one of his hands
against the wall next to Willow's beautiful head.

"How...how are you?" Willow politely asked.

He smiled and Willow held her breath when he spoke softly into her ear. "To
tell you the truth, Red. I could be better."

"Oh...well, how? I mean, is something wrong?"

"How?" he looked into her eyes, then caught her lips in a searing kiss. A
kiss that made the world stop and revolve around them and them alone.
"There...much better now."
