Rating: PG
Pairing: Willow and Spike
Disclaimer: I do not own. I wish I did, but alas, Joss is the King of Great Material. The song is ‘A Case of You’ written by Joni Mitchell.
Note: This is going out to Len. Who sent this and another song through asking for someone to write a song fic for it. I just want to state that I love this song, and have been thinking of a way to make it into a song fic, but for some reason, it didn’t click until tonight.
Spoilers: Um, I think everyone has seen up to ‘Doomed’ episode, If not, well, then there is the spoiler.
So here you all go, but I’m warning you now. It gets a bit fluffy at
the end. Just so you’re warned.

just before our love got lost you said,
"i am as constant as the northern star."
and I said, "Constantly in the darkness
where's that at?
if you want me I'll be in the bar."
on the back of a cotton coaster
in the blue T.V. screen light
i drew a map of Canada
oh Canada
with your face sketched on it twice.
Willow laid back on her bed and stared up at the blank white ceiling. She let the words to the song flow over her as she thought about what brought her to the foul mood that she was in. He left. Just like Oz. Just like Tara. He was different. She knew that before they got together. But in the end he was just like all the others. He left.
in my blood like holy wine
you taste so bitter and so sweet
well, I could drink a case of you, darling
and I would still be on my feet
i would still be on my feet.
Spike sat in the bar. He had come to L.A. Looking for something. Anything,
really. He just had to get away. He was feeling things he swore off of
after Dru left. So now here he sat, listening to a Calstia demon belt out
the words to some song he never heard. But, words that seemed to fit his
muddy mood. She had gotten into his blood. Deeper then Dru or Cecile ever
got. So he did what he had to do to protect himself. He left. But he couldn’t
just drink her away. Well, I said it before and I, bloody well, will
say it, again. I’m love’s bitch. He thought, as he drank the last of
his whiskey.
oh I am a lonely painter
i live in a box of paints
i'm frightened by the devil
and I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid.
i remember that time you told me
"love is touching souls"
surely you touched mine
'cause part of you pours out of me
in these lines from time to time.
Willow took out her poetry journal, and started to write. She had started
keeping it, while her and Buffy took a class on poetry freshman year. Oh,
Goddess. The year that he came back. The year, he became a bigger part
of my life then just breezing in and breezing back out. She thought
as she reread what she had wrote. "Inside out and upside down. I’ll never
leave this damn town. I’ll stay ‘til my dying day. I only wish you would
have stayed. My life has been bleak and dull. I long for the comforting
lull. When you would return. But my love has been spurned. One of these
days you’ll come. And as always, I’ll be done." She spoke the words out
loud as her mind went over the calming days they had spent in bed. Holding
each other. Making each other scream. "How I wish my love was returned?
Somehow, I think I’ll never learn." She said as she wrote.

‘You just don’t want to be happy.’ The green skinned, red horned demon
that owned the bar said. ‘Get over it. She’s the one. She’s what you’ve
been waiting for, that’s why you can’t get her out. She’s in your blood,
just like you’re in hers.’ Spike thought about those words for a few moments,
then he made up his mind. He had been stupid. He had let the one woman
that had wanted him, not his sire, not someone of better standing, him.
That’s why he found himself back in his car. Driving to the place he swore,
he would never return not three hours before. He realized something a few
miles outside of L.A. He wasn’t stupid. He was scared. He had always loved
with his whole being, and was hurt time and again. But this time, he was
being loved back the same way. She had given herself to him and he was
a right bloody bastard for doing what he did. Now, he was on his way to
make it right. I just hope I’m not to late. He thought as he pressed
a bit harder on the gas pedal.
i met a woman
she had a mouth like yours
she knew your devils and your deeds
and she said, "Go to him, stay with him
but be prepared to bleed"
Willow sat back and listened to the words, again. I wish I could go to him. Make him see. But that’s kind of hard when I don’t have a clue as to where he would go. She thought as she went over where he might have gone. Willow was brought out of her thoughts, by the knock on her balcony door. She moved slowly to the double french doors, afraid to hope, that it was him. That he had come back. She opened the doors and looked in to the face of the man, no vampire standing there, and the tears she had been holding back all night started falling.

Spike stood there looking into her beautiful green eyes and he knew. Dru was his princess. Cecile was his muse. Willow was better then them all. She was his Goddess. "I was a stupid bloody moron. I ran because I thought you would come to your senses and leave me. So I left first. But there’s one thing I never counted on. You’re in my blood, so I could never leave you." Spike said as he saw the tears falling down her flawless skin.
Willow’s knees felt weak as she listened to his words. They finally gave way when he finished. She started to fall and he rushed to her and caught her easily. He placed an arm under her knees and swept her into his arms and walked her over to the bed. When he sat her down, he started to speak, again, but she held on finger up to his lips to stop him. Green eyes locked on blue as she spoke. "Shut up. Just shut up. You had me at ‘I was a stupid bloody moron’." She said with a huge smile when she finished speaking.
Spike stared at Willow confused. When she leaned in and starting kissing him, it only took him a moment to realized what she meant. He returned the kiss, deepening it. He had his love. And she would forever be his Goddess.
The End.
