Giles awoke to the sound of knocking on his door. Fumbling with his robe, he made his way down the stairs from his loft bedroom. Opening his door, he expected to see Buffy or her mother, however never expected to see the two people he found there.
Faith and Oz had been traveling together every since the Watcher’s Council got her out of prison. The tests they’d put her through had proven she had been reformed enough even if it had only been a month. They’d also hooked her up with Oz, who was now her watcher, which she found very odd. She still didn’t know the whole story on how the wolf became apart of the council, but she suspected before the day was out she would know. Standing here in front of G’s door she knew soon she would have answers and possibly more questions too, all she needed now was for him to answer the door.
Oz felt strange going to Giles’ after what he’d seen at Willow’s window the other night. He’d been extremely angry at what he’d seen, not knowing how Spike fit into what was going on or even how he’d gotten to Willow. He desperately wanted to question Giles, but first he needed to explain about Faith and him becoming a watcher.
The council had contacted him not even a day after he’d left Willow crying and heart broken. They’d told him they could help him learn to control the wolf and in return train him to be a watcher for them. He taken the offer and three months later he’s traveling with Faith and in complete control of his wolf. He had orders to get Giles to help with Faith, because apparently Buffy’s time was soon coming to an end. A new prophecy told of a slayer who’d tasted her own death yet lived, would die a final time to stop the Hellmouth from shifting and never to open again. There were even symptoms of her behavior that would lead to signs that the time was coming. Oz was also very worried at how Giles would react.
The site of Oz and Faith at his door froze Giles.
“Oz, Faith. When did you get back?” He asked still shocked.
“We need to talk to you, the council sent us, Giles.” Oz started not missing a beat.
An Hour Later…
“So, that’s what got you to being my watcher, cool.” Faith exclaimed.
The threesome had talked and learned a great deal. The only question Oz had left were about Willow and Spike.
“I stopped by Willow’s parents’ house the other night, and saw…” Oz said but couldn’t finish.
“Ah, yes. You saw Spike, correct?” Giles asked.
“Yeah, what’s going on?” Oz asked.
“Willow and Spike are together and in love. Spike can’t and won’t hurt her.” Giles stated with conviction.
“How? Why? Huh!” Oz mumbled.
“Spike has a microchip in his head preventing him from harming humans. He’s been helping us and they got together. A few days ago Willow finally told Buffy and the rest of us about it. Needless to say Buffy reacted badly.” Giles answered.
“How badly?” Faith asked.
“Willow and Buffy got into an argument. Buffy ended up hitting her, knocking her out and Willow ended up in the E.R. Her and Spike decided to leave town.” Giles answered sounding rathered haggard.
“What did Xander do?” Oz asked.
“He threatened Buffy, and knocked her out when she verbally attacked Willow yesterday. Buffy threw your relationship in Willow’s face.” He said.
“Is Willow okay?” Faith asked.
Shocked, he answered, “She will be okay, Spike’ll make sure of it.”
Suddenly Giles’ door burst open and in walked Buffy and her mother talking so much that they didn’t see Faith rush to the bathroom or Oz sitting on Giles’ sofa. Turning around Buffy noticed Oz finally, and greeted him.
“Oz, when did you get back?” she said.
Faith waited in the bathroom for over an hour before leaving Oz a note on the counter and climbing through the window and going back to the hotel she and Oz were staying at.
