Incense burned around in a cloud as the redheaded witch ground herbs of basil, bay, cedar, cinnamon, acacia, ague root, angelica and Echinacea. The candles of cobalt blue, red white, and silver illuminated the circle of power she had created for her workings. As she chanted she sprinkled the ground herbs around her.

“Goddess Athena, I plea to thee…
Protect these that comfort me…
Goddess Gaea protect this place that shelters we…
Alert us to danger, these children of thee…
As I will it so mote it be.” Willow chanted.

As her spell ended and she released her circle Willow felt herself bond with the others in the building and the shield erect it self and knew her spell had worked.
Spike walked over to his tired mate and kissed Willow’s forehead. Even he had felt the spell take hold. He was glad they’d have warning when the wolf showed up because he had a feeling they’d need it. From what Cordelia had told them the wolf had nearly gotten furry yesterday.

(I swear if the wolf hurts her again, I’ll kill ‘im.) Spike thought.

Later that day…

There was a shift in the air as Angel and Spike talked in the apartment below the office.

“Did you feel that?” Angel asked.

”Yeah, it felt like a rush of power.” Spike said as he started to get up.

“Lets go check on the girls.” Angel said getting up and out of his chair.

The girls were talking when Willow felt her wards being penetrated. Moving to the outer office they heard a thud and rushed out to see an unconscious Oz with a vamped out Spike standing above him and yelped when Angel came up behind them.
Oz had entered the building expecting to find the girls alone again, thinking the vampires would be sleeping. He had used his sense of smell yesterday to detect them but now all he could smell were the incense Willow had used in the spell earlier that day. The blow that knocked him out he’d never seen coming.
Spike and Angel had spilt up when they realized that the wards had been broken so they moved in for a trap. The chains had been set up in the sewer tunnel waiting just incase. Spike had seen the wolf sneaking up to the office door and rushed to knock him out.
Angel came up behind the women and helped Spike carry Oz down stairs to the tunnels and place him in the chains. Spike had talked Willow into letting them talk to Oz before seeing him again.
When Oz awoke he jerked on the chains and his eyes opened to see Spike and Angel waiting for him. He was scared and the wolf didn’t like that. Oz’s eyes started to glow reflecting his wolf, and he growled deep with in his body.
Angel had hoped they could talk Oz down, but wasn’t too sure now that he saw him. He decided to start this proceeding hoping not to have to torture the wolf anymore than this.

“So, Oz how do you want this to go? I mean, you sneak into my home and what do you want?” Angel asked as Spike sat back trying to control his own demon.

Spike knew he couldn’t hurt the wolf too much without angering Willow so he stayed back not trusting himself.

“Let me go.” Oz demanded.

“Bloody Hell, Why?” Spike gritted out.

“I’ll leave. I’m supposed to be in Sunnydale, I’ll go back there.” Oz said jerking the chains again, fighting back a growl.

Angel grabbed Spike’s arm and drew in father down the tunnel away from Oz.

“Spike, I think we need to let Willow talk to him. They might need it.” Angel spoke softly to keep Oz from hearing.

“Fine go and get her I’ll tell the wanker about it.” Spike sounded desperately to get Oz out of there and Angel knew why. Spike’s demon was demanding Oz’s blood and for Willow’s sake he was fighting it with everything he had.

Angel left and Oz had seen but not heard their conversation and all he could think was (please don’t kill me.)

When Spike appeared again he only said to Oz, “We are going to release you, however, you and Willow have some things to clear up first. I want her safe, so you’ll stay chained up until things are resolved.”

Willow didn’t really know what she wanted to do about Oz, but she knew she had to talk to him at the very least. She wanted to apologize for they way he found out about Oz, and hoped he would listen. Entering the tunnel, Spike kissed her on the head and left them alone to work things out; she knew it was hard for him and hope to do this quickly. Holding the key to the chains in her hand she approached Oz cautiously.
Oz’s angry by this time was passing; he’d figured something out in the last few minutes. He finally realized Buffy had been wrong about Willow and Spike’s relationship, it was love. Now all he wanted was to leave them in peace.

When Willow was in front of Oz, she began.

“Oz, we need to talk.” She stated reaching up to unlock his chains when she looked into his eyes and found no sign of the wolf.

“Yeah, we do.” He said.

“What happen to you the other day? Why did you attack?” Willow asked.

“I don’t like you seeing him.” Oz said not knowing what else to say.

“Oz, you left ME! You have no right to tell me who I can or can not see. I love Spike and that’s it. I didn’t ask you to leave, matter a fact I begged you to stay. What did you expect? Did you really think I would wait not know when or if you would ever come back?” Willow babbled.

“I think a part of me did. You’re right though I don’t have any right any more. I’m sorry, but if you ever need anything, I’ll be in Sunnydale. Goodbye, Will.” He told her.

“I’m sorry too, Oz. I didn’t know you were in town, and I didn’t want you to find out about Spike and me that way. It was not revenge for Veruca.” She explained.

Pressing his luck he kissed her forehead and left her standing in the tunnels. Oz felt better leaving this time knowing she’d be okay and loved.
That was the last she would see of him for a while and she knew it. She knew that the things said tonight had needed to be said for a while and now she felt safe to continue her relationship with Spike without all the what if’s.
