For Friendship or Love

Willow had waited until almost everyone had left Giles’ for the night before confronting Buffy. She figured neutral ground would be best and Giles was still here even if he was in the kitchen at the time.
 

“Buffy, um can we talk?” Willow asked.

“Sure Will, what’s up?” Buffy noticed her friend unease.

“Well, uh, I have something that I need to tell you and I know you won’t like. You see, I…um IloveSpike. SoyouseehowIalreadysleptwithhimandIwasscaredyou’dkillhimorme.” Willow blurted out.

“What, Willow take a breath and try again.” Buffy gave her a look.

By this time a curious Giles was already standing in the doorway behind Willow.

“Ok, Here it goes. I’m in love with Spike and a few months ago we started sleeping together. But now…”but before she could finish Willow was interrupted by Giles.

”Oh, dear lord. Haven’t you girls figured things out by now? Sleeping with the dead, for heaven’s sakes. Bloody hell, I need a drink.” Giles talked to himself but loud enough that they heard.

Mean while Buffy stood in shock with her mouth hanging open. Buffy wasn’t stupid completely and knew something had been wrong with her friend but figured it was still about Oz. She had no idea her friend had been sleeping with the enemy.

“You’ve been having SEX with Spike. Are you still, now that he says he loves me?” Buffy asked a little hurt.

“No, he…he…” But Buffy stopped her statement.

“Of course not, because Willow wouldn’t betray her friends by sleeping with the enemy. No, Willow isn’t like that. But that’s not true now is it. You chose him over us, are you going back to him?” Buffy rambled off getting louder.
 

“Yes, I am. But first I wanted to tell you so that there would be no more secrets. But, then again I should have known you act like this. If Buffy isn’t happy than neither should the rest of us be. Would you rather I had stayed moaning over Oz forever. Of course because then you could flaunt Riley’s pussy whipped self in front of me.” Willow said getting even louder and standing almost on top of Buffy her anger getting to her.

“You know what I think Spike’s changed you. You never would have talked to me this way before, look at you. Yelling at me and saying that stuff. God, I’m not sure who you are right now. But if you go to Spike, you are making a clear chose.” Buffy stated.

Meanwhile Giles was clearly drinking himself into oblivion, listening and hoping that once they cooled down they would be able to talk Willow out of this relationship. But he knew if Buffy pushed Willow too far she would never listen to any of them. He’d seen her like this before, that fire when she stands up for something.

“What Buffy are you trying to say is that it’s either for friendship or love that I leave tonight?” Willow asked knowing Buffy was giving her an ultimatum.

“Yes, is it for friendship or love, Willow?” Buffy shouted.

”Buffy, you always push too far. I chose love, so I’ll be seeing you around.” With those words Willow turned to Giles just now remembering he was here.

“Giles, I’ll stop by tomorrow and we can talk then. Goodnight.” Willow then turned to leave, and Buffy grabbed her arm in a bruising grip.

“Don’t Will.” Buffy said.

Jerking her arm free, before walking out the door Willow said, “ For Love always Buffy. I love you but I love him too.”

With that Willow left to go and find Spike. Hopefully he would take her back and Buffy would keep her stakes to herself.

“For Love.” Willow kept thinking as she walked away from Giles’ flat.
