RATING: R - mentions of rape, sex, murder and violence. Yay! My first
almost dark part! Um… wait. Should I be happy about this?
AUTHOR'S NOTES: This isn't necessary to the plot of the story. It will
be mentioned, thought about and fears brought up in this chapter will be
throughout the rest of the fic. I suggest you read this part, I'm extremely
proud of it.
*Flashback to the Past*
***"I've been reincarnated about 4 times. My name now is Kataryn; Dathan's
is Lucien… We both use our given names, Alellia and Dathan, those two are
just the ones that belong to these bodies."***
"It was around the time just after William was turned by Angelus. And
I mean just after. Probably the night after…"
-Flashback-
Alellia found her way to the black mage arena, her eyes widened in surprise
at the gathering that the tournament had gotten. She managed to find herself
a seat in the arena, with a decent view of the ground. She looked around
her and found a handsome elf sitting next to her. She shrugged indifferently,
elves didn't mix well with any other races - hell, not even with their
own!
The first bell of the battle rung and Alellia grinned. She watched the
two combatants parry each other's blows, before both tossing aside their
man made weapons and opted for magic. Alellia watched intently, her own
bewitched eyes noting each energy wave and each spell. She gasped at the
last spell - such a bad choice. Didn't he see the opponent's barrier? Idiot.
She sighed and shook her head as the spell bounced back and hit the
guy full force.
As they waited for the next battle, Alellia began to write notes in
her book about the battle. "What are you reading, shaleen?"
Her eyes snapped up and looked at the elf next to her. He called her
shaleen which in elven meant "un-married." His black pupil-less eyes bewitched
her and she founded herself drowning in them. His long silvery hair flowed
over his shoulder and she noticed his slight tan. "Not reading, writing.
There were glaring error's a fourth year mage shouldn't have made in the
previous battle."
He nodded his eyes leaving hers and setting down on the arena. "I agree.
Nordam normally wouldn't have made these horrible errors. We suspect Havil
of cheating."
Alellia nodded, wondering if he used a stupefaction spell. "What is
your name, shaleen?" the elf inquired, surprising her.
"A name is power. Call me Taledris."
"Tama." He looked over at her briefly and she wondered what she looked
like in his eyes. All of his race were extremely beautiful… her long black
hair curled down to her mid back and her dark green eyes were said to twinkle…
The next battle started and cut off any more conversation.
*
Alellia walked out of the arena, smiling slightly. She hugged her new
book to her and began to weave her way through the crowds to find her family.
A soft hand stopped her and she turned around to find Tama. "T-Tama…"
The elf glanced around and dragged her over to a rather shaded area.
"Taledris…" He growled at his loss for words and instead claimed her lips
with his own. She blinked in surprise for a couple of minutes before pushing
him away, a dark blush on her pale flaxen skin.
He sighed as she ran off, and silently watched her slender form vanish
into the crowds. He turned to William, who
had just been recently turned, grinned. "She's pretty. Gonna eat 'er?"
Dathan shook his head and looked at his old friend. "I plan on using
her. She's very pretty - and pure."
Spike grinned and slung an arm around Dathan's shoulders. "Pure virgins
are always the best!"
-
"Wait! - you fell in love with this guy?" Willow asked incredulously,
wondering if the girl had any hard blows to the head recently.
"It gets better." Alellia says. Willow wondered if by that she meant
better as in he became nicer or better sarcastically.
-
Alellia continued to meet up with Dathan, even though she had hoped
to never see him after that incident. It wasn't like a normal friendship
because they spent most of their time arguing. It had been nearly three
months and Alellia felt as if she'd known him forever, she wasn't sure
if this was a good thing or a bad thing. He hadn't tried to kiss her since
the incident, and she hoped he didn't try. "-uneducated fool! A stupefaction
spell would delete the knowledge from your opponent and you would be home
free!"
"But casting a simple forgetful spell makes an easier cast AND you would
gain it for a certain amount of time!" Dathan argued with her, only hearing
his own points.
"But you would undoubtedly forget it as it wore off. It holds no water!"
"It does too!" Dathan growled, staring straight ahead. His eyes caught
sight of William, signaling that they should be off. He turned to Alellia
who was paying a little boy enough so he could get himself an apple. His
arm snagged her waist and he hugged her to him. "What are you -" He cut
off her words with a single kiss, waiting for a couple of seconds before
she responded slightly.
He broke it off, and gave her a robust grin. "I'll pick you up tomorrow,
sweets." He heard her stutter a "Don't call me that!" as he walked towards
William, before noting how she sunk to her knees.
*
Alellia walked up the alley, clutching at her purchase, hoping she would
find Tama. Her eyes kept traveling backwards, and she had nearly bumped
into two people.
She spotted his fair head amongst the crowd, and began to walk towards
him. She weaved through the crowds, hoping to get to him in time. "Ta-"
she cried, as a hand clasped over her mouth. She struggled, trying to wiggle
out of his grasp, but he held firm. She bit his hand, and he moved the
hand, sucking on the wound. She ran over to where she thought Tama was.
Sure enough there he was, leaning against the wall - laughing with someone.
"Tama!" She cried, as a herd of people got in her way. She saw his eyes
look around and she tried to push through the crowd. She felt the hand
clasp over her arm, and she began to scream as he pushed her into a back
alley. Her magic was useless against him, and he kept advancing. "Taledris!"
She hear Tama shouted and all she could do was sob. She watched tearfully
as the man grinned and started to unbutton his shirt.
"Don't cry so, lady. It'll only hurt for a minute."
She shrunk back in fear as he moved so as if to unbuckle his belt. "Oh
goddess… no! Please, no!" she begged the man, who was now advancing on
her. He gripped her wrist, and his mouth pressed hard against hers, he
forced apart her lips and pushed his tongue into her mouth. She bit him
and then and she shrunk back in fear as his hand moved to her corset. He
had only succeeded in ripping just a little bit, when he changed his mind.
He went after her skirt and had ripped it roughly …
-
"OH my gosh!" Willow grabbed the girl to her. "I'm so sorry!"
Alellia laughed, "Will you wait just a minute!"
-
… when he was pulled backwards. She covered herself up as a stranger
rushed to help her.
-
"Oh thank the Goddess. I don't think I could handle it if you got raped."
Willow said to the girl, knowing that even if she didn't know her, she
would feel horrible about what happened to her.
The girl only began to talk again.
-
"Are you alright, pet?" His blue eyes and brown hair made him look so
homely that her eyes began to water again. She threw herself at him, crying
into his shirt. She was shaking in fear, horrified of what would of happened.
She felt her shoulder being grabbed and she clung to the stranger, knowing
she didn't want to see that man who tried to hurt her again.
Dathan's warm voice whispered in her ears and she let go of the stranger
to look at him. "he… I…" she stuttered and he shushed her, drawing her
away from William, and closer to himself. He picked up her small form,
and began to walk with her. When they approached the body of the man who
tried to rape her, she began to scream and cry hysterically.
Dathan gave a slight nod in William's direction, and then left the alley.
William happily drained the man, and quickly ran off to find his sire.
Dathan took Alellia back to his apartment, opening the door and putting
her down of his bed. She curled up into a ball, her dress dirty and torn.
He looked at her, not saying a word and searched through his closet for
something for her to wear. He found his mage robes and left it on the bed
for her to put on. He went into his kitchen, finding something for her
to eat. He started to make soup and turned at the sound of Alellia walking.
Alellia was standing at the door, her torn and dirty dress still on,
and her shoes' heels still in tact. "Thank you…" she croaked out, her voice
rough and sore from her screaming and crying. Dathan's gaze softened as
he looked at her. He took her hand and led her to his bed. "You should
get some rest."
Her green eyes turned to look at him, bloodshot from her crying. "I
must look horrible."
"You look as beautiful as ever to me."
"I'm not sure if I should be insulted or happy." She laughed dryly,
and curled up into a ball away from him.
Dathan stroked her hair for a while before thinking better of it and
taking his hand away. Like she'd want to be touched after what had just
happened to her. Idiot. Her hand shot out and he looked at her back. "Don't
take your hand away as if you can't bear to touch me." She said softly.
He sat down on the bed again, and she turned over to look at him. "Why
me?"
He looked at her, hoping it was a rhetorical question.
She looked at him and repeated, "Why me?"
The moment she looked in his eyes she understood her question. "I don't
know. At first… I was just going to use you. But… lately, I find myself…
enjoying our time together. It's strange for an elf to like a gypsy. It's
strange for an elf to like anyone."
Her eyes met his and she sat up. "Don't leave me alone for tonight."
And he knew at once what she wanted from him.
"Are you sure?"
She nodded at him, and moved closer. Her lips found his and she maneuvered
into his lap. His hands found their way to her back and she curled her
hands up in his hair. He leaned her back, and she made no whimper of pain
or any struggle. His hands found their way to her corset and he broke free
of their joined mouths. "I ask once again, to make sure. Are you -" her
mouth crashed against his, and he stopped asking. His hands untied her
corset and lifted her arms so he could take it off. He kissed down a path
from her chin to her belly button, and she giggled.
He smiled fondly at her, and she gave him a warm smile. "Make my bad
memories go away."
And he did just that.
((And the author side-steps a mushy scene, to keep this fic non-NC-17))
-
"Obviously, Dathan's feelings and my own had moved past friendship.
But we didn't realize that they're would be unseen complications in our
relationship…"
-
Alellia smiled at Dathan as she walked to camp, where her mother waited.
Her mother's face was hard and cold as Alellia looked at her. "Maman? Whatever
is the matter?"
"Alellia, my dear child. Who was that man?"
"Dathan. He is… someone who likes me, Maman." She stumbled over her
little lie, her face blushing.
"Is he of the Hilderesh elves, my daughter?"
"Yes, Maman. What of it?" Alellia's eyebrow furrowed, wondering what
it could matter.
"My dear child, you must never speak with him again."
Alellia's face was struck horrified, "Why? Maman, how unjust!"
Her mother sighed, and took her arm. "Come with me, my child. I shall
tell you all."
-
Alellia shook her head. "I'd rather not go into detail of why my clan
- the Roshchianv's and the Hilderesh Mountain elves are sworn enemies.
Bad blood, murder and hostility is mixed in. Just know, that my mother
wished me not to see him. Of course, I disobeyed."
-
"Dathan." Alellia looked at him, whose eyes were cold. "You know too."
He hissed at her, and she took a step back. "How could you lie to me?"
"I did not know!" Her face turned into slight anger. "Why do you assume
I knew?"
"Father told me that it is the gypsy way: lying, cheating, being over-all
vulgar."
Alellia's eyes narrowed and she glared at him. "Oh, and the Hilderesh
elves are such fine specimen. You who murder, pillage and discriminate.
You are worse than an gypsy - more vile than a snake, and more traitorous
than a wolf."
He scoffed at her, a sneer crossing his handsome face. "I thought you
liked wolves."
"Not ones like you." No expression crossed her face, her eyes glimmering
with unsuppressed anger.
"So it is agreed. I will neither see you, or you with me."
"So it shall be." Alellia and Dathan traded disgusted glances with each
other before both turning the other way. Alellia stopped and looked back
at his retreating form, whispering a quick spell of good luck at whatever
he will do.
-
"I didn't see Dathan for two weeks. The day I saw him - well, technically,
I didn't see him, I *felt* him - was the day when my sister had been murdered."
-
Alellia came home from her trip to town when she heard the surprised
sound of the camping moving. She frowned and went to find someone. A woman
dropped to her feet and said how sorry she was for her loss.
"What loss?" Alellia inquired as the woman looked up.
"Did you not hear, Alellia? Greni was murdered."
Alellia blanched and fell to her knees. "Greni… but I saw her this morning."
"My poor child…" the woman hugged Alellia to her person, and Alellia
silently wondered when it happened. She thanked the woman kindly and ran
over to where she had seen her sister last. She opened the door to her
sleeper to find his energy everywhere. Blood matted the walls, and her
sister's stabbed body laid broken on the floor. And his energy was all
over the body.
Dathan had killed her sister.
-
"What?" Willow said, appalled.
"Don't be appalled, Willow. For what I did after that, went against
I believed in."
-
Alellia stalked towards the Hilderesh hall, hearing the sounds of a
great party being held inside. She knew what they were celebrating. Her
sister's death.
Her face contorted to one of anger, and her grip only tightened on the
fencing rapier she was champion at. Out strolled Dathan's own sister, and
Alellia couldn't help but hide a grin.
Alellia stepped in front of her, hiding her sword behind her back. "Excuse
me. Can you tell me where I can find the mage hall?" With her sweetest
smile she couldn't help but hide the smile in her eyes, when Dathan's sister
asked if she wanted her to show Alellia.
"Oh would you?"
-
"You killed her?" Willow asked, disgust filled her bones.
"It went on like that for quite sometime. He killed someone in my family,
and I killed someone in his. It came to the point where he killed my little
brother, Carhi. That made me insane, for he was very dear to me. That is
when I challenged him to the duel of death."
-
The sun was setting as Dathan appeared over the hill. Alellia snapped
into attention, her sword already at ready position. Dathan spotted her,
and he did the same. Even as they got ready to battle, Alellia couldn't
deny how handsome Dathan looked. His long silver hair was tied back in
a leather thong - the one she had given him and his eyes shone in ready
for the fight.
"Engard!" Alellia yelled, and in the flash of an instant everything
was said. Her love for him wihich never wavered while her hatred of him
kept her going; his own love for her, and disgust at everything that she
was and what she believed in.
Alellia, her hand over her pierced heart fell to the ground, her breathing
coming quicker and shallower. Dathan, his hand over the rapier embedded
in his stomach, fell face first into the stone driving the sword inadvertently
deeper. His bloody hand sought out her grasping one. "Da…tha…n. I…lo…ve…y…ou."
"Me…to…o."
Her hand slumped in his, and less than ten minutes later, his hand also
fell limp.
-
Willow brushed away the tears that were falling down her face and she
glanced at the girl next to her. Silently tears rolled down the face as
her hand caressed a page in the book. She showed Willow the page in her
"dictionary", and Willow glanced over the page. "'Immortal Soul'…?"
Alellia bitterly read the incantation, as Willow's eyes followed.
" 'Aphrodite in Heaven above
as these two souls descend
please stop them on their way
from here to eternity
until the blessed day
in which the lovers
will meet without
their vile tendencies
being thrown around.
Make them remember all of the past
to give them a bond
not even they can grasp' "
"See? So, until we can both truly forgive each other for what happened,
we'll keep being reincarnated. Frankly, it won't ever happen. I will never
forgive him for killing my brother." Her brushed the tears away and sighed,
and whispered for Willow's ears alone. "He touches me with those hands.
The hands that killed my brother. I can't forgive myself for that."
Willow looked at the girl next to her, silently wondering how much it
must hurt her. "Every time I feel happy with him, I loose more of my self
esteem. William tries to help me with this… feeling, but no one can understand."
"After I was born again, I met Dathan when I was around 25. This is
where William and I became friends."
-
A flash of light blinded her eyes as she walked down the street in the
crowded London square. She shrugged and kept moving with her friend chattering
away. She blinked again as the light shined in her eyes and Elizabeth sighed.
Where was that light coming from?
She turned her head, and gasped as a wave of visions over took her.
Anne swept to help her keep her balance and Elizabeth looked after the
man. The man who had helped her in the alley… She said a goodbye to her
friend and hurried after the man. She saw him up ahead and she lost all
of her noble status as she pushed through the crowd to catch up to him.
"Excuse me! Excuse me!" she called out to him, yet he kept moving on.
She balled up her skirts and tapped him on the shoulder. "Excuse me!"
He turned around to look at her, "Do I know you, pet?"
"Well… um…" she blushed. "You used too. See, I think I've been reincarnated.
I was Dathan's…uh…"
"Oh yeah! The girl from the alley!"
"That's me. The girl from the alley."
"You look different." He looked her up from head to toe. Dressed in
heavy silks, her blue eyes and blonde hair, made her look nothing like
how she used too.
"I am different. Have… Have… I know this must seem silly, but have you…
met Dathan?"
His eyes shone in amusement and he nodded his head. "I'll take you to
him, pet."
"Thank you, sir." She smiled at him and took his offered arm.
*
He led her to a baron's castle, just out of the city. He knocked on
the door, and a servant entered the door. "Ah, Sir William. Please come
in. Master Christoph is awaiting your arrival." Elizabeth entered the house,
and was instructed to wait in the common room. She stood in the center,
her eyes travelling over all of the wealth in the room. Her dark yellow
dress, was fiddled with and she called on one of the servants to show her
to the powder room.
Christoph nearly flew down the stairs in haste to greet her, when he
searched the room he found not a soul. "William? Where has she gone?"
"The lady who was in here, sir? I showed her up to the powder room."
The maid said, her brown eyes shining. "She was very nice, very pretty.
M'thinks the master will like her." She grinned and left the room.
William raised a curious eyebrow at Christoph who shrugged. "My sister
is… is… involved with her."
William coughed, and they heard a light footsteps. "M'Lady, you are
quite a looker."
"Ah… Thank you, Baroness. I'm sure my father will appreciate the sentiment."
"Of course! With such a delightful daughter as yourself, he must get
them all the time."
"Ah." A slightly nervous and embarrassed laugh echoed. "Um… do you if
you're brother is in the common room yet?"
"Ah, yes I do believe so."
"Oh, good. I've come here to meet him."
"Have you?"
"Yes. Thank you for escorting me, Baroness." A vision, to Christoph,
in yellow silk came down the stairs. Blue eyes and blonde straight hair,
and a slightly nervous laugh. Her eyes traveled over to where Christoph
was standing and she bowed as she walked over. "I'm Lady Elizabeth, second
daughter of the O'Connel family, m'lord."
He took her hand and brought it to his lips. "It's a pleasure meeting
you, Miss O'Connel."
"I know it must seem… terribly forward of me to come here unannounced,
but I…"
"Master Christoph, your fiancée is here to see you." The servant
interrupted, and Christoph thanked him. "Will you be able to wait, Miss
O'Connel?"
Her eyes traveled to the clock. "I'm afraid not, M'lord. It is quite
past the hour, and my father shall be looking for me. It would be in my
best interest to leave for the manner at once."
"Of course. Maybe I shall call upon your father, so we shall meet again."
"As you wish, m'lord." She bowed and accepted her coat from the servant.
William escorted her out, and she sighed into the night air. "He was
quite handsome. It is truly a pity that I couldn't of gotten to know him
more."
"It is, m'lady."
"Have… have you met his fiancée?"
"Ah, yes. She is quite a dull girl if you ask me. He would be better
off with you, I dare say."
She laughed, and smiled. "Why, thank you, Sir…?"
"William. Just William."
"Well, Sir William, how have you stayed exactly the same since when
I met you all those years ago?"
He grinned at her. "I'm afraid m'lady. It is quite a long story."
"Well, Sir William, I do have all night. Supposedly, I have left town
for the weekend with my dear friend, Anne. I only do it so I can walk freely
for a morrow."
"Well, let us find a nice pub, and I shall tell you my tale."
"Sounds delightful."
-
"William and I became good friends. My father had wanted to set us up
to be married, but I wouldn't agree to it. Dathan married that fiancée
of his, and I married a rich baron two hours away from the city. William
came to visit me at least once a month.
"We became inseparable after a certain point, and I died of loneliness
three years into my fiftieth year.
"I was reborn as Alexandra after that, and than Natalie. Now I am named
Kataryn, but I still use Alellia."
Willow's eye brow raised as she absorbed it in.
"Well?" Alellia inquired.
And one word summed it all up for Willow:
"Wow."
The whole car burst into laughter.
