Buffy stumbled through the cemetery toward the huge marble mausoleum looming in front of her.  A quick glance behind her assured her she was alone, but she didn't slow down.  She knew he was coming.

She reached the mausoleum, practically tripping up the stairs, and sat on the top step, examining her torn, bloodied pant leg in between alert glances around.  Her calf, just above the left ankle, was bruised and scratched from the headstone she'd tripped over.

Where the hell was he?  He'd been right behind her.

A snapping branch off to her right drew her gaze.  She searched through the darknened cemetery, past the headstones, but saw nothing.  There must be a reason he wasn't following her.  And then she realized--

    "Willow."

Buffy jumped up with a wince, and headed back the way she'd come.  She and Willow had split up after the slayer's fall, but she hadn't seen Willow since.  She ran headlong into the trees, nearly tripping over the same headstone again.  Stupid sunken markers!

She shoved a branch out of her way and let it swing back.  A shout from behind her startled her.  She spun around.  "How did you get here so fast?  I-- um..." not staying to chat, she turned and ran, hoping to make it back to the mausoleum in time.

This time he did follow her.  She had to go the roundabout way since he was blocking her way straight through, but she made it... just as he touched her and yelled, "Gotcha!  Ha!  I believe that makes you, it."

Buffy stomped her foot and faced Xander.  "And I believe it makes me so not it!  You haven't gotten Willow yet."  She gave him a smug smile and sat down, crossing her arms over her chest.

Willow emerged from behind the mausoleum with a pouty frown.  "He got me after you left here.  That sound you heard was Xander getting smacked in the face when I let go of a branch."

Xander rolled his eyes.  "Yeah, yeah.  I got major wood from the both of ya.  And that is so not what I meant."

The End
