The band playing tonight was surprisingly good as everyone was either tapping toes to the beat or jumping around on the dance floor in time to the beat of the music. Everyone was in a wonderful mood tonight… and why not? A celebration was taking place, a celebration to take the worry off of the young minds crowded at a small table in hopes of having something resembling normalcy. Normal… a word that they had almost forgotten the meaning of in the past six years of fighting demons and stopping apocalypses and any other mind numbing experience to come their way. No, tonight was a night to cut loose and have some fun, and to forget that evil actually exists… or, at least, forget as much as possible given that Spike was also with them.
"Hey, Will. Having a good time?"
"Yeah, Buff. This is great!" replied the red head who was grinning from ear to ear. "I can't remember the last time I had so much fun!"
"Well hey, What are best friends for? Happy Birthday!"
"Yeah, Wills. Happy Birthday bestest bud!" Said Xander as he leaned over and gave his life long friend a hug. "C'mon, dance with me birthday girl."
"No thanks, Xander. I'm just going to sit and watch for a while. Save me a dance though?"
"For you, anything." Replied the young man as he turned to Anya. "C'mon hon, lets dance." he said as he took the ex-demon's hand and lead the way to the dance floor.
"Excuse me? But would you like to dance?" a young man nervously asked the blonde slayer.
"You have no idea how much. Lets go." Buffy replied as she led the smiling young man to the dance floor.
"You having a good time, Giles?"
"Yes, actually I am. The band is rather good tonight. And you?"
"Oh, I'm having a wonderful time! No one has ever taken me out for my birthday before… or celebrated it before now that I think about it."
"Yes, I guess we were rather remiss in that area. Something that shall be rectified in the future I assure you."
"Thanks, Giles." Willow replied and beamed at her mentor.
"Your quite welcome. And… happy birthday." The librarian said as he gently patted her hand lying on the table.
"Spike?' she said, turning to the blonde vampire. "You haven't said a word since we got here. Aren't you having a good time?"
"A good time? You have no idea what a good time is, ducks. A good time is chaining someone to the wall and slowly slicing them open. A good time is being able to smell just how afraid a human is of you as you hunt them down." Willow watched as his eyes glazed over in remembrance. "Those were the good ol' days."
"You know, if you didn't want to come here you could've found something else to do. Its not like the other's twisted your arm or anything!"
"Actually, Fluffy did." Spike replied with a smug look on his face. "Still hurts too."
"You can leave if you like and it wouldn't stop my fun! It's not like I asked you to come along or anything!" fired the red head.
"Okay, okay, pet. Sheesh! I'll stay. Don't get your panties in a bunch!"
"Hard thing to do since I'm not wearing any panties." Willow said sarcastically, which caused Giles to choke and cough after trying to take a sip of his drink when the comment was made. Spike's jaw almost hit the floor. Never in a million years would he have ever expected a comment like that to come from the shy young woman sitting beside him. A sly grin replaced the stunned look on his face as he took Willow by the hand and led her to the dance floor, pulling her in close as he bent his head to whisper in her ear.
"I'm not wearing any underwear either." He chuckled as she leaned back with a surprised look on her face. "Happy birthday, Red."
The end.
