Prayed for an angel
To come at night and shine some sweet light on me
Found only strangers then you came to me
Just when I'd given up
You gave me love
My world was tumblin' down
You turned it around, baby

You...are...you're some kind of miracle, oh baby...
You you you you...are...you're a miracle to me.

Sweet revelation
That look in your eyes
Your touch in the night
I found the sweetest salvation
In your arms, baby
Warm as the morning sun
Your tender love
Came and just lifted me up
Look what you've done, baby

You...are...you're some kind of miracle, oh
You...are...a miracle to me.

You brought joy to my heart
I found love in your arms
See what you've done to me?
You set my soul so free
You came and you gave me the love that I need

You...are...you're some kind of miracle
Baby you...are...a miracle to me.

Baby you are
Oh, a miracle to me

Willow stared at the night sky, losing herself in the sparkle of the stars and the feel of Spike’s arms around her. They were sitting on the cushioned chair on the Summers front porch together with a blanket wrapped around their bodies. She suspected that Spike had fallen asleep but she herself was still wide awake. She wasn’t worried about the baddies, mainly because every time she was in Spike’s arms, she felt safe, protected, and loved. Everything she always wanted and cherished.

But, for reality’s sake, she also did a small protection spell around the house so there was a barrier.

Willow’s thoughts drifted as she remembered all that had happened in the past year. Most of the events that she expected were going to happen really did. Xander and Anya’s wedding went off without a hitch since she made sure that the pesky demon didn’t lure Xander into believing lies. Her magic was stronger then ever and was used to her advantage during many fights with demons and other forces of darkness. But, it really helped in their ‘fight’ with the Troika. The three geeks never gave up in their attacks until the final confrontation where they were suspended in mid-air due to Willow’s magic. After a little convincing, the three fled to Mexico, leaving the Scooby Gang in peace. Giles still remained in Sunnydale, knowing that Willow and Dawn needed him. At that point previously, Buffy no longer needed a mentor and teacher but this time around, Dawn and Willow needed and wanted him to stay more then ever. Not as a researcher or informer but as a father figure.

Overall, they had grown closer as a group, growing into a family. Xander and Anya had plans of settling down and starting a family after a few more years. They would still help fight; after all, they couldn’t turn their backs after finding out what really bump at night. But patrolling and slaying would take the backseat and family matters would take the priority.

The spell had worked. The year had gone by quickly, the group fighting off the occasional demon or two but nothing serious. The First never rose again and things seemed to have gone quiet. Willow had at least expected an apocalypse or two but there wasn’t anything major. Just a few attempts of demons trying to open the Hellmouth.

Things were good. Life was finally starting to take a turn for the better for the redhead. Willow snuggled against Spike and sighed happily. She realized now that it was all worth it. The pain, the loss, the experiences: they all taught her so much and in the end it made her stronger. It made her who she was. And she loved that.

She still missed Buffy. Out of all the losses she experienced over that short period of time, surprisingly, the lost of Buffy was the one that stuck out the most. The loss of William had hurt the most initially, but Faith was right, it did dull over time. And now she could talk about the alternate version of Spike freely without shedding a single tear. A part of her still missed Tara. More as a friend and companion rather than as a lover. Tara truly understood her, especially magically. But things were better this way. Tara could live out her life instead of dying at such a young age.

But, Buffy. Her best friend of five years, the one that saved her so many times that she’d lost count, the one that stayed up with her late at night to eat ice cream and chocolate. She was the one that Willow loved deeply and missed even more. She knew that Buffy was happy though, happy in heaven.

The last visit that either Spike or Willow had gotten from Buffy was when she visited him that day at his crypt, telling him that they were connected. They still had yet to discover the reason why the PTB sent Buffy to tell them of the news. Spike still refused to touch any book containing prophecies even though things had been quiet.

Their lives no longer revolved around slaying and fighting. Yeah, they still saved the lives of the innocent but it wasn’t *all* they did anymore. They actually had time to savor life, to enjoy, to love.

And, love she did. Willow felt Spike’s arms tighten around her and she smiled again. God, she loved him so much. Her love for him surpassed that of William, Tara and even Oz. Before, when Oz had left, she felt like she couldn’t breathe, as if she’d lost a part of her. But she couldn’t even imagine the pain if she lost Spike. He had been there for her through the hardest times and stuck with her no matter how many times she pushed him away. He didn’t have to, but he did. That meant so much more then he could ever imagine to her.

Their relationship got off to a rocky start but not from outside interferences. Everybody in the Scooby Gang had been surprisingly supportive but again, it was Willow’s own treacherous mind that was scared, afraid. She didn’t want to lose another person that she loved again. It would’ve been too much. She had lost three people within such a short period of time and she wasn’t given enough time to deal with the repercussions of it all. But, with time, she opened her heart to him and he loved and cherished it with all that he could.

He wasn’t just Spike around her. He was more then that. He wasn’t just a vampire, wasn’t just a killer, wasn’t just another demon. In her eyes, he was a man. He was William. He was someone that she loved beyond words and expression. He was him. Plain and simple. And she loved every part of him.

She knew he wasn’t perfect and neither was she. That was what they loved about each other. It was their flaws that they loved. He loved how every time she got nervous, she would still babble in that cute manner. She adored the way he got jealous whenever a guy would look at her a bit longer than appropriate. They fit together, it just made sense.

Willow took one last look at the night sky before gently elbowing Spike in the stomach. She smiled at his protests but got up anyway, “Come on, Spike, we have to go in.”

He pulled her down and she collapsed onto him with a giggle. He kissed her softly, “Can’t we just stay out here tonight? You have that barrier spell all set up.”

“Well, I don’t want to wake up to a pile of ash in the morning.”

“Oh, yeah, right.”

She grinned, “Come on, Mr. Sleepy Pants, get your booty up.” She dragged him to his feet and pushed him through the door.

Behind and above them, the stars twinkled brighter in the sky.

The End
