Chapter 30:
******************
The next two weeks had passed pleasantly for Buffy and Spike. If they weren't
together at school, they were haning out at the Bronze or out around town. The
two of them talked constantly over the phone and did just bout everything with
one another. With each passing day, Spike and Buffy got really close and they
both loved each and every second of it.
As new as all this was for Buffy, she hadn't had too much trouble trying to get
use to the fact that she was someone's girl. Just the mere thought of it caused
Buffy to pinch herself, making sure all of it wasn't a dream. Spike was the best
thing that had happened to her. He was attentive, sweet and could also be real
intense with his feelings for her. Spike had a way of making her laugh with his
jokes one minute and then the next, he was causing her knees to buckle with just
a look. Buffy had never felt this way before....about anyone.
Spike was floating on the same cloud as Buffy, fore he too had never been so
into anyone before.
Not even Dru.
Buffy was on his mind every minute of every hour and Spike wouldn't have it any
other way. She made him happy and that was a feeling that he hadn't felt in a
long time. Buffy had broguht back that glimmer of sunshine that Spike had lost
so long ago. Everytime she smiled, the ice that had grasped Spike's heart
melted. No one had ever effected him in the way that Buffy had. She was in his
gut now and the amazing thing was that Spike didn't mind it at all.
However, the two blonds were a little worried that the physical aspects of the
relationship would be a little uncomfortable, seeing as Spike was a little more
experienced and Buffy had never had a boyfriend before. Spike had to constantly
remind himself that Buffy wasn't just any other girl. She was special and he
didn't want to move too fast with her. He had no expectations of her and didn't
try to force her into going further than a kiss whenever they were together.
Buffy was very greatful for that. She liked that he knew how far was too far for
her and when to stop when things got a little to intense. Not that Buffy didn't
know her own limits but it was nice to know that Spike knew and was comfortable
with them as well.
In the two weeks that they had been together, all that had been explored was
kissing and gentle touches. Buffy was now a pro at that thanks to Spike. He was
a great teacher and Buffy had been very eager to learn. They both knew that more
was going to be explored when they were both ready but the mind blowing kissage
was enough.
For now.
Willow and Xander were very pleased with the news that Buffy and Spike were
together. They were a bit surprised at how soon it happened but that didn't
matter. The two felt that Buffy had waited long enough and deserved to be happy.
Plus, it gave them all a chance to double date.
Of course, there were a few people who did mind how close Spike and Buffy
quickly were becoming. Joyce, for instance, was one of those people. After
remembering later on just who Spike was and what she was told about him from
Giles, Joyce confronted her daughter and voiced her concerns about their new
relationship. It wasn’t that Joyce didn’t like Spike because she did. The young
man that she had met didn't seem like the bad boy that Rupert had discribed. She
still felt the need to protect her daughter. Buffy assured her that there was
nothing to worry about and that she trusted Spike wholeheartedly. She figured
that if Buffy could look beyond Spike's past, then so could she.
Giles was another who had concerns and he made sure that his nephew was aware of
all of them. As happy as he was for Spike, Giles was worried that he was not
only moving too fast with Buffy but that at some point some one would get hurt.
It pained Giles to admit it but he had a feeling that Spike would be the one
doing the hurting. Giles didn’t have all the details of his nephew’s troubled
past but he knew enough to worry about Buffy’s status as his new girlfriend. He
didn’t want Spike to treat Buffy like he had all the others. After a long, LONG,
chat one evening, Giles was finally convinced that Spike had Buffy’s best
interests at heart and would not do anything to hurt her. In that moment alone,
Giles knew that this new relationship with Buffy was of the good.
But not everyone thought that way….
Angel was beyond pissed with the news of his sister’s relationship with the
bleached pest. He tried his hardest to plead and reason that Spike was bad news
but Buffy wasn’t having it. His behavior on the night of their first date didn’t
do anything to help his case either. After berating him over the way he acted,
Buffy made it clear that in no way, shape or form would Angel be coming in
between she and Spike. Knowing how defensive she got whenever he would talk
badly about him, Angel decided to just keep his mouth shut; he was far from
happy about it though. He noticed that everyone else seemed to take their
relationship well and that angered him as well. He knew that it would be up to
him if he wanted to break the strong hold that Spike was beginning to have on
his sister.
And so did Faith.
So sure that Spike was going to take her up on her ‘offer’, Faith was more than
surprised and unreasonably angry when she found out that Buffy had managed to
steal him away from her. She didn’t understand what someone like Spike saw in
someone like Buffy. There was no way that ‘goody toes shoes’ Buffy would be
enough woman for the British hottie. That was Faith’s job and she always got the
job done. No matter what she had to do, Buffy would be out of the picture and
Spike would be all hers.
****************************
It was Friday night and the Bronze was the place to be. It seemed like every
teen in the town was there chatting away and dancing to the beat of the DJ's hot
tunes. Buffy, Spike, Xander and Willow all occupied a few of the lounging
couches in an uncrowded area, enjoying the music and one another’s company.
Willow and Xander were casually sitting next to one another on one couch while
Spike sat with one arm draped around Buffy’s shoulders as she snuggled up
closely to his side on the other.
“Homecoming’s next weekend.” Xander started conversationally. “It’s our first
big dance of the year. You two excited?” he asked the blond couple sitting
across from him.
“Why would I be?” Buffy scoffed. “I’m not going.”
“Why not?!” her two best friends and boyfriend questioned. All of their faces
were covered with expressions of disappointment, surprise and confusion.
In all honesty, Buffy expected the question from Willow and Xander but not
Spike. She just figured he wasn’t into that sort of thing. It didn’t matter that
they were a couple or that Buffy actually did really want to go. She wasn’t
going to make a big deal about the dance if Spike wasn’t. This was the first
time that he had said anything about it anyway.
“Well, it's not like I usually go." Buffy pointed out.
"That's because you didn't have a date before." Willow countered, ignoring the
glare she got from her. Buffy was about to argue some more but Spike cut her
off.
"Then I guess it's a good thing you have me, isn't it?" he questioned with a
teasing smirk. He knew that Buffy secretly wanted to go to the dance. The
unbelievable thing was that he did too.
Buffy turned sideways to look at him. Her facial expression wore one of
surprise. "You wanna go to the dance?"
"Well, yeah." he answered. "I mean, we're a couple aren't we? Going to school
dances is what couples do."
"I just figured it wasn't your thing." Buffy admitted. Spike shrugged a little
before responding.
"To be honest, it isn't." he started. "but it's yours." Buffy instinctively
tried to argue that she could care less about the dance (even though she wanted
to go) but Spike didn't give her the chance. "Don't try feeding me that 'I could
care less' line either cuz I see through it." Buffy pouted and he chuckled. He
thought she looked so adorable when she did that.
"I just don't want you thinking that you have to go just because I want to." she
reasoned.
"Buffy, I really don't mind." Spike assured her. "Sure, it's not my usual scene
but if it means that I get to see you all dolled up and happy, then count me
in." he finished. Bufy blushed a little and smiled softly.
"You really wanna go?" she asked once more.
"I really wanna go." he asnwered with a smile of his own and then he leaned to
kiss her gently.
Just like all of his other kisses, this one left Buffy feeling light headed and
tingly. Their moment was interrupted when Willow sqealed with joy and
excitement. Spike slowly broke away from Buffy's lips and looked over at the
hyper redhead. Buffy dropped her head down on his shoulder, a little
embarrassed. It seemed that he had forgotten they had an audience. That sort of
thing always seemed to happen when the two of them kissed. It was like the whole
world melted away.
"This is so great!" Willow beamed. "You're going to the dance!" pause. "You are
going....right?"
Buffy looked over at Willow then back at Spike. With a playful sigh, she gave
in. "Okay! I'll go."
"That's the spirit!" Xander joked, pleased that his friend had agreed to go.
"This is gonna be so fun!" Willow continued, clapping her hands together with
glee.
"I just hope I can find I dress with dance being so close." Buffy replied, worry
creeping into her tone.
"Don't worry about that." Willow dismissed. "I haven't gotten my dress yet
either. We could go shopping together if you want?" she offered.
"Count me in." she answered.
They all chatted a little more about the dance before Spike and Xander got up to
go refill everyone's drinks. As soon as they were out of earshot, Willow rushed
over to where Buffy was sitting.
"Oh my God!" she gushed. "Could the two of you be any cuter?"
Buffy looked over at Spike as he stood at the bar. She turned back to Willow and
smiled big. "You think?"
"Oh, yeah!" she returned. "I don't think I've ever seen that look on your face
before."
"What look?" asked Buffy curiously. "I have a 'look' now?"
"Yep. You get this dreamy, 'Spike's all mine' look on your face whenever the
he's near or even mentioned."
"I do not!" Buffy scoffed. "I do?"
"I'm your best friend, Buffy or one of them at least." Willow started. "I
wouldn't lie to you. I've never seen you this happy."
"William makes me happy." she said. Willow narrowed her eyes a bit.
"Uh oh."
"What?" Buffy asked.
"You have 'but' face." replied Willow. "Spill."
Buffy knew that denying it would only make Willow push harder so with a sigh,
she confessed.
"Will is great and like you said, I've never been happier." began Buffy.
"But..." Willow supplied.
"But...something's missing." sighs. "I feel like he's....holding back."
"Holding what back?"
"The truth about his past." pause. "Not that he's lying about it. He just..."
Buffy trailed off with a sigh before continuing. "You remember what I told you
about Spike and the apparent 'bad boy' past he had?" Willow nodded. "Well, he
won't talk about it with me. I mean, whenever I mention it, he just shuts off
with this ashamed look on his face and changes the subject. It's like he's
afraid that I'll judge him if I know about his past."
"Well, speaking from his point of view, I guess I can understand why he would
think that." Willow reasoned.
"I wouln't do that, Will." Buffy excliamed, not concerned with her volume. The
music was drowing her out anyway. "I...care about him. I just want him to trust
me."
"Oh, Buffy, I'm sure he does." she assured, with a comforting pat to Buffy's
knee. "Just give him some time. The two of you haven't even been together a
whole month yet. It's still a bit new. I'm sure that he'll tell you everthing
when he's ready."
Buffy took note of Willow's words and agreed. She just had to give him time. The
relationship was a bit new. They were still getting to know one another. Of
course Spike would be a little hesitant about telling her everything.
*I just have to give him time.*
"I guess you're right." replied Buffy. Willow rolled her eyes playfully.
"Of course I'm right. I"m Willow." she teased. The girls shared a small smile
but Willow's slowly dropped and turned into a frown when her gaze drifted over
Buffy's shoulder. Buffy took notice of it and asked,
"What's wrong?"
"Don't look now but I think the class skank is trying to sink her claws into
your guy. Again." Willow answered.
Buffy immediately turned around. What she saw made her blood boil. Faith, sleeze
extrodonare, was practically throwing herself at Spike, not caring who
witnessed. Spike, himself, looked as he was resisting the urge to get violent
with the brunette.
*I'm gonna kill her!* Buffy thought, starting to see red.
"Does that girl ever give up?" Willow's voice broke into Buffy's violent
thoughts. Buffy clenched her jaw.
"Apparently not."
Faith had knew good and well that Buffy and Spike were an exclusive couple but
that didn't stop the tramp from trying to get her hands on Spike. At school,
Faith would practically undress him from afar while glaring at Buffy hatefully.
It didn't take much to see that Faith was more than a little disappointed about
their relationship. She did whatever she could to get Spike's attention, no
matter who was around or how stupid she looked. The act was really starting to
piss Buffy off.
Buffy had found out about a week ago that she and Gunn had finally called it
quits. As happy as Buffy was that her good friend was finally free from Faith's
unfaithful habits, she was worried that Faith would only up her attempts at
getting her hands on Spike.
And Buffy was not about to let that happen...
"I'll be right back, Willow." Buffy said, not bothering to wait for a response
as she made her way over to the bar.
Nobody messed with her boyfriend!
********************
Chapter 31:
*******
Buffy had never considered herself to be a jealous type of person but the sight
of Faith getting fresh with Spike had brought out the possessive side that she
wasn’t aware she had. Even though Buffy knew that Spike wasn’t property, she
subconsciously thought of him as hers and she wouldn’t be surprised if he saw
her as his. Faith didn't seem to want to accept that.
*Who does that tramp think she is?!* thought Buffy as she made her way over to
the bar.
*********
“Things seem to be going really well with you and Buff.” Xander commented to
Spike as the two of them waited for their drinks.
“Yeah, they are.” Spike agreed with a nod and smile. “Not to sound like a
poofter or anything but I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy with anyone.”
“Buffy is one hell of a girl.” replied Xander. “You’re a lucky guy.”
“Don’t I know it.” pause. “I keep thinking that she’ll eventually realize how
much of an unworthy ponce I am and dump me.”
“That won’t be happening anytime soon, man.” Xander assured. “Buffy’s crazy
about you.”
“You think so?” Spike asked with a grin on his face. Even though he had been
with Buffy for nearly a month, he still felt like he didn’t deserve her. The
fact that he had yet to tell her about his past only made him feel more
unworthy.
“I know so.” he answered. “Look, I know you have a past and everything, which by
the way, you’re gonna have to tell us about at some point, but I wouldn’t worry
about it so much. We’ve all got skeletons in our closets and I highly doubt that
Buffy will dump you ‘cause of yours. Give her some credit.”
“I hope you’re right, mate.” Spike replied skeptically but deep down he knew
that Xander was right. He had to have more confidence in Buffy and trust her not
to judge him for his past mistakes.
“I’m always right.” Xander joked. His humor immediately left him when he spotted
who was making her way over to them. *Cough* “Skank alert.” *Cough*
Spike’s look of confusion quickly turned into one of annoyance when he turned
around to see who Xander was talking about.
Faith.
He turned around hoping that Faith would walk right past them but no such luck.
She was heading right in their direction and Spike really didn’t want to deal
with her. The whole ‘I want you’ routine was getting stale and he really didn’t
feel like listening to it tonight. He was with Buffy and nothing or no one was
going to change that.
“Hey, blondie.” Faith greeted with a smirk. “You’re looking tasty as always.”
“What do you want, Faith?” Spike asked in the most patient tone that he could
muster. There was no point in trying to beat around the bush with her. Spike
just wanted her gone.
“Whoa there, baby. Chill.” she said with a small laugh. “I just wanted to come
over and say hi.”
“Mission accomplished.” Xander cut in with an icy glare. “Now go away.” He had
never liked Faith all that much and now that she and Gunn weren’t together
anymore he didn’t have to pretend otherwise.
“Take a hike, Harris.” Faith dismissed with a wave of her hand. “This is between
me and Spike.”
Xander opened his mouth to argue that there would never be anything between her
and Spike as long as Buffy was in the picture but Spike spoke up first.
“Faith, there will never be anything between us. Even if Buffy wasn’t in the
pictured, you’d never have a chance.” he replied firmly, risking a glance in her
direction. “And the sooner you get that through you skull, the better off you’ll
be.”
“Oh, baby, don’t be like that.” Faith purred as she pushed Xander (rather
harshly) to the side so that she could run her right hand up and down Spike’s
arm. “We could be great friends. I’m very friendly.” she whispered the last bit
in his ear.
Without thinking, Spike shrugged her off and turned to face her with a glare.
His patience was quickly running out. “I just bet you are but why don’t you go
try being ‘friendly’ with someone who’s actually interested. Sod off.”
As if his words went in one ear and out the other, Faith moved closer to him so
that their lower bodies were touching, with both her hands rubbing up and down
his muscular chest.
“Give me one good reason why I should do that.” she replied seductively, not
noticing the pissed off blond heading her way.
“That would be me.” Buffy interrupted heatedly, as she pulled Spike from Faith’s
wandering hands, turned him around to face her and smashed her lips to his in
passionate kiss.
Unlike their usually soft and gentle kisses, this one was rough and demanding.
It held so much fire and need. Buffy had never kissed Spike like that, much less
initiated it. Spike was the one who took the lead but this time it was all
Buffy. Her mouth was doing things that made Spike’s pants grow very
uncomfortable. Buffy was in control this time and he was loving every delicious
minute of it.
After Spike’s shock wore off, he wrapped both arms around his girl and pulled
her close, so close that she was practically a second skin. Buffy responded just
as eager, tugging gently at his curly hair with one hand, while the other fisted
in his black t-shirt. The shyness that had once held Buffy back from displaying
such public affection didn’t exist at the moment. Buffy had forgotten all about
laying it out to Faith once Spike’s mouth began dancing with her own. Nothing
existed. The feel of one another’s lips was the only thing that mattered.
While Xander watched the heated encounter with amusement, Faith took in the
scene with seething rage. The two blondes were holding on to each other as if
they were afraid the other would disappear and it didn’t look like they were
going to break away for air anytime soon. Faith had to resist the urge to yank
Buffy away from who was supposed to be hers. No one had ever resister her charms
for this long, not to mention the fact that he was passing her up for someone
like Buffy. The mature side of her wanted to just let it be and find her someone
more available but the spoiled envious side won over. She had to have Spike and
she would get him.
Before air started to be a major issue, Buffy and Spike broke apart slowly and
leaned their foreheads against one another. Panting, Buffy offered Spike a sexy
grin, one that he had never seen and in the most seductive voice possible said,
“Dance with me.”
Spike was helpless to do anything but indulge her. He had never been one for
dancing but he knew that he would be a fool not to do so with her, especially
considering the naughty mood she was in. Spike said nothing as he walked with
her onto the dance floor. Neither blonde gave Faith another thought.
Faith watched with her mouth a gape, not believing that Spike just blew her off.
Xander, unable to help himself, tapped her on the shoulder. Faith turned to him
with fire in her eyes, daring him to say something stupid. Of course, Xander
ignored her silent warning. This jibe was too good to pass up.
“This is the part where you walk away.” he was wearing the biggest grin he could
muster as he waved her off.
Faith wanted nothing more but to punch his lights out. Instead, she walked off
in a huff, muttering how she'd get her way soon enough.
Spike and Buffy were planted in the center of the dance floor among the other
dozens of hyped up teens, practically molded to one another. The song that
filled the club wasn’t one that either of them particularly liked but it did
speak to their bodies and they could nothing but surrender to the beat and the
feeling.
Oh it’s so hot and I need some air
And boy don’t stop cuz I’m half way there
Buffy moved out of Spike’s embrace and began to dance sensually in front of him.
She had never been so free on the dance floor before. Usually, she was rather
reserved and shy but right now the fire that was coursing through her was in
charge and Buffy could do nothing but obey. She moved her hips slowly to the
sexy tune as her she ran her fingers lightly through her hair. Spike kept up
with her as much as he could but mostly he just watched. And what a wonderful
sight it was.
It’s not complicated
We’re just syncopated
We can read each other’s mind
Spike’s look could only be described as predatory. He wanted to devour her in
front of everyone and damn the consequences. He had never seen this side of her
before and he was sure that it was a side she had never shown. Every curve of
her body had his undivided attention. Spike thought she looked so alive and
free, not to mention sexy as hell. He knew that his girl had an audience besides
himself and he wasn't at all surprised about it but Buffy was his girl and the
rest of the club could just disappear for all he cared. Spike tried to keep his
hands to himself and let her have her fun but the sway of her hips was calling
to his lower areas. He had to touch her. He NEEDED to feel her.
One love united
Two bodies synchronizing
Don’t even need to touch me baby just….
Breathe on me (Baby just)
Breathe on me
We don’t need to touch (Just)
Breathe on me (yeah)
Just breathe on me
We don’t need to touch just…..breathe
Buffy turned her back to him and began to move her hands up and down her sides
as she danced. She noticed that the other guys on the dance floor were pretty
impressed with the way she moved. Those other guys didn't matter though. Before
she could turn back around to the guy that did, she felt his strong arms wrap
around her waist from behind. His scent filled her senses. Spike was all around
her and she never wanted to escape.
The lower part of his body began to slowly grinded against hers, awaiting her
reaction. Spike hoped that she wouldn't freak out and run away scared and
disgusted.
Buffy couldn’t help the surprised yet excited gasp that passed her lips at the
new sensation. She may have been a virgin but she wasn’t dumb. There was no
mistaking what was poking her in the lower back. Instead of shying away from
this new touch, Buffy pressed back against it hesitantly, grinning madly when
she heard Spike release a gasp of his own. His hands framed her hips tightly and
guided her unsure movements as the song continued. Buffy wrapped her arms around
his neck and let him take over.
Oh this is way beyond the physical
Tonight my senses don’t make since at all
Spike's touch left a heat like no other as he hands ghosted over her body. Buffy
lightly fingered the hairs at the nape of his neck, loving how soft it was.
Spike nuzzling her neck like a contented kitten was the result of her gentle
touch. Before Buffy knew what was happening, Spike was planting a trail of moist
kisses down the side of her neck as he grinded with her. The beating of her
heart began to speed up and her breathing became labored. She was shivering all
over. Spike's hands moved in slow circles on her flat tummy as he drove her mad
with his lips.
Our imagination
taking us to places
we have never been before
Take me in
Let it out
Don't even need to touch me baby....just
Spike's already tight jeans were becoming my snug with each grind but he didn't
dare push Buffy away. She felt too good to let go. He was certain that she'd
snap out of whatever world she was in when he nudged himself against her
backside but she didn't; she just moved along with him, encouraging his touch.
Spike didn't want to think about how she would feel after this dance of theirs
over so he didn't. For someone with no experience, Buffy was a natural. She
moved against him perfectly; she fit him perfectly.
Breathe on me (yeah)
Breathe on me
We don't need to touch just...
Breathe (breathe) on (on) me (me)
Breathe (breathe) on (on) me (me)
We don't need touch just…..breathe
As the song reached its end, Buffy and Spike become more into one another. By
now, absolutely nothing registered to either of them. The music was even a mere
echo in both Spike and Buffy's minds. Neither one of them understood the feeling
coursing through them, especially considering how new their relationship was;
but they couldn't ignore what was happening. It was too damn strong.
Not being able to take anymore, Buffy swiftly turned around so that she was
facing him and smashed her lips against his. Spike didn't complain one bit as he
practically lifted her up off the floor and returned the kiss with just as much
desperation and heat. The song repeated its chorus once more before it ended.
Long after the song was over, Spike and Buffy were still joined at the lips on
the dance floor.
We don't need to touch just.....breathe

Chapter 32:
**********
Buffy and Spike practically groped one another for another ten minutes on the
dance floor, not caring that another song (a faster song) had started and people
were starting to get hyper again. It wasn’t until some rowdy teen bumped into
them that their little world had finally been interrupted. Buffy pulled away
from him with a gasp. All the boldness and confidence was suddenly knocked out
of her and the shy side of her was quickly returning, not to mention the
embarrassment. Buffy hadn’t meant for it to go that far but she couldn’t help
it. It was like she wasn’t even in control of her actions but that wasn’t what
was scaring her. The scary part was that she liked every minute of it and that
was bad. Right? She was sure that Spike was disgusted with her now. She had
acted like a crazed…crazy woman and now he would think less of her.
Disgust was the last feeling that was running through Spike’s body at the
moment. The only feeling that Spike could register were his girl’s luscious lips
upon his. That is, until said lips pulled away from him. One look into her eyes
and Spike knew that she had come back to herself. She was looking everywhere but
at him and he was certain that the flush of her cheeks wasn’t just from their
heavy dancing. She looked around her as if she was suddenly realizing that she
had not only given into her wild side but she had done it while everyone watched
and that Spike could tell that the realization wasn’t sitting well with her.
Buffy was looking for an out. She wanted to run and if Spike didn’t do something
soon, that’s exactly what she was going to do.
Without a word, Spike took hold of her hand and led her through the crowd of
wild and crazy teens until they reached the Whelp and Red. Buffy tried to remove
her hand from his grasp once they got to the table but Spike wouldn’t have it.
He gave her hand a light squeeze to let her know that he wasn’t ready to let go
just yet. Before Buffy could pull away harder or even argue, Willow’s voice
interrupted.
“Wow, Buffy!” she beamed. “I had no idea you could move like that. Mind giving
me lessons?” Buffy just blushed and looked down at her shoes in response.
“And is it okay if I watch those lessons?” Xander joined in, half teasing. Even
though he never thought of Buffy that way, he was a guy after all. Willow and
Spike knew that he was just teasing but that didn’t stop them both from
answering with a loud and resounding,
“NO!”
“Spoil my fun.” muttered Xander with a pout.
Grabbing her jacket and purse, Buffy said, “I think I’m gonna go and get some
air. I’m all sweaty. You guys don’t mind do you?” She had to get out of there
for a while. Spike proximity was having an affect on her and she didn’t think
her two best friends would appreciate an up close and personal peep show.
“We’ll be here.” answered Willow. Xander nodded in agreement.
“Wait for me?” Buffy once again attempted to dislodge her hand from Spike’s
grasp but no such luck.
“How ‘bout I just come with you?” Offered Spike with a shrug of his shoulders.
“You don’t have to-" Buffy tried but the expression on Spike’s face made her cut
the argument short. Buffy sighed and gave in with a nod.
“Lead the way, pet.”
Buffy walked towards the exit and Spike was hot on her heals. Once the blond duo
was out of sight, Xander turned to his girlfriend and said,
“After Buffy and Spike’s little show, I’m inspired to do some dirty dancing of
my own. You game?”
Willow giggled prettily and got up from her seat, tugging Xander up as well.
“Show me what you got, Xanman.”
***********
Silence had never been so loud between the two of them. Buffy had planned on
coming out here alone but Spike just had to tag along. It wasn’t that she minded
much but the thinking that she planned on doing while she was alone wasn’t going
to get done while he was near. Still walking hand in hand, Spike managed enough
nerve to ask the question that had been dying to come out of his mouth for the
past ten minutes.
“Not that I minded, luv, but you mind tellin’ me what got into you back there?”
he asked. Buffy’s grip on his hand tightened but instead of looking at him, her
gaze focused straight ahead.
“I was hoping you hadn’t noticed that.” The words sounded stupid even to Buffy
and she knew that Spike was looking at her as if she was insane. How could he
not have noticed?? A blind man would have noticed.
“When your girlfriend starts behaving like a cat in heat, a bloke has no choice
but to notice.” he joked. Buffy groaned, way more embarrassed now that it was
out in the open.
“I know! I just-I don’t know what came over me.” Buffy started. “It’s that I saw
Faith all over you and I lost it. I become all ‘cave Buffy’. The entire time I
kept thinking ‘Faith bad. Spike mine.’”. she finished with a blush, as she
turned to finally face him. She hadn’t meant to say that part out loud.
Surprisingly, Spike didn’t take it the way she thought he would. He actually
looked…pleased.
“Yours, huh?” he asked, smirking. Buffy looked at his chest when she answered,
not being able to meet his eyes.
“I know that’s not something I should be saying. I mean, your not property and
we haven’t even been together long enough for me to even make that kind of claim
on you.” rambled Buffy. “I just…..the way I feel about you….I’ve never felt this
way about anyone.” she finished. Spike’s eyes widened in response but he
remained quiet. “And as scary as the thought is, as much as I’ve tried to tell
myself that I shouldn’t be feeling this way so soon, I can’t help it.” pause.
“I’m drowning in you, William.”
Spike’s heart nearly stopped beating at her sincere admission. He knew how he
felt about her but was so sure that she didn’t feel the same way, not yet at
least. To know that she was feeling as strongly as he was…it was more than he
could have hoped for. He suddenly realized that he could hold how he felt about
her inside. If she could admit her feelings, then so could he. It was time. Now
that he knew how she felt, it would be easy to confess his emotions as well.
“I know exactly what you mean, luv.” he started. Buffy looked at him with a
mixture of surprise and relief.
“You do?” she asked in a breathy whisper.
“I do.” he answered. “Like you, I keep tryin’ to convince myself that whatever
it is I’m feeling is too soon. I keep tryin’ to find reasons why I shouldn’t be
feelin’ this way about you and the more I think about why I shouldn’t, the more
I come up with reasons why I should.”
Buffy felt tears sting her eyes. She was so afraid that the feelings she had
were completely one sided. It warmed her to the core that Spike felt just as
strongly as she did.
“You’re in my gut, Summers. You’ve managed to ease your way into the empty shell
that was once my heart. Just the thought of being with anyone else rips me up
inside.” Spike continued, as he pulled her close and rested his forehead against
hers. “There’s only you.” pause. “All I want is you.”
Spike barely managed to get his words out before Buffy’s lips were on his. He
wrapped both around her waist and pulled her even closer to his body. Buffy
eagerly deepened the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck. Their tongues
battled slowly in dance that left them both breathless. When it all became too
much, they pulled apart mutually. Spike placed a lingering kiss on her forehead
while Buffy breathed his scent in deeply. He smelled of leather, tobacco and a
smell that was simply…..Spike.
“God, you actually think I'll be able to recover after a speech like that?”
Buffy replied breathlessly. A deep chuckle was her humored response.
“Don’t blame me, luv. You started it.” he teased, placing another kiss on nose.
“We’d better get back inside. I figure that we can burn off some more energy
with those moves of yours.” he finished. Buffy blushed but grinned.
“So I’m guessing you enjoyed my little show, huh?”
Spike answered by turning her back to his front and walking her towards the
entrance of the club. With his hands on her slender hips and his lips close to
her ear, he said,
“Oh yeah! Maybe one day I’ll show you some moves of my own.”

Chapter 33
*********
Spike and Buffy enjoyed about an hour of club hoppin’ before they decided to
call it a night. After saying a quick good night to Willow and Xander, both
blonds headed to the Summers’ residence. The ride there was made in comfortable
silence. Neither teen said anything because there was nothing that needed to be
said at the moment. The two of them were content with just holding hands as
Spike drove. After parking in front of the house, Spike got out walk Buffy to
her front door. Silence stretched longer than usual. They didn’t want the night
to end just yet but that couldn’t be helped. Joyce let Buffy push her curfew but
just barely on the weekends and Spike didn’t want to do anything to get her in
trouble.
“I had a really good time tonight.” Buffy replied quietly. The fact that she
enjoyed herself wasn’t a big surprise. That always happened when she was with
Spike.
“The pleasure was all mine, pet.” Spike responded with a small smile. He then
slowly leaned in and Buffy did the same. Their lips met in a gentle kiss
goodnight. At least the kiss started off as gentle.
As soon as Buffy felt Spike’s lips upon her own, she lost herself. Grabbing a
hold of his shoulders to keep her steady, Buffy deepened the kiss. Spike eagerly
wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her flush against him. The outside
world faded away as it always did when their lips and tongues danced. Spike
would never get enough of tasting her sweet lips and Buffy was just as addicted
to his taste as well. It was a pleasurable pastime for them both and they
would’ve continued to do it if it wasn’t for that pesky breathing issue.
Mutually breaking away from one another, both blonds took in deep gulps of air
as they rested their foreheads against one another
“Cor, those lips of yours will be the death of me, Summers.” Spike breathed out.
Buffy grinned.
“Yeah but what a way to go, huh?” she teased with an adorable giggle. There was
no giggle that made his heart flutter the way Buffy’s did.
Spike chuckled and placed a kiss on her nose and just held her in his arms for a
few moments. With a sigh, Buffy spoke again.
“I really hate this part.”
Spike looked down at her with a confused expression on his face; having no clue
what she was referring to but was silently hoping that it wasn’t something that
he had done.
“The part at the end of the night where we say good bye really isn’t getting
easier.” she clarified. Spike nodded in understanding. Every night after they
parted ways, he was always left wanting more. Not that Buffy ever left him
unsatisfied with her kisses alone because she didn’t; Spike just could get
enough of her. Even a mere few hours away from her made him miss her like crazy.
It was a relief to know that he wasn’t alone with his emotions.
“We do this part every night.” Buffy continued. “You walk me to the door, nearly
knock me off my feet with the mind blowing kissage and then you leave.” At this
point, Buffy wasn’t meeting his eyes anymore and Spike wondered just what
exactly was making her shake the way she was now. “It’s getting harder to resist
asking you to stay…..and do more than just kiss me.”
Spike wasn’t sure what Buffy meant until she finally looked up at him. Her eyes
gave her meaning away and they spoke volumes.
His eyes widened a little in response and his breathing had now become ragged
with his girl’s confession. Buffy was just full of surprises tonight. He had
never thought she openly admit something so….intimate with him so soon. He knew
that he thought of her in that way. Hell, he dreamed about it since the day they
met but he would never admit to it so early in their relationship. He didn’t
want to make her feel pressured or anything. Spike thought it’d be at least
another two months or so before they delved into that part of the relationship.
Apparently, Buffy’s timetable was working a little faster than his.
“Is that wrong?” she asked hesitantly, breaking Spike out of his shock.
Spike took in her nervous expression and realized that she expecting him to
judge and make fun of her. With that look alone, he was reminded that Buffy was
an innocent in this. This was all new for her. Buffy even said herself that she
had never experienced any of this before. Spike was certain that she was unsure
and scared of all the emotions cursing through her. She didn’t how soon she was
supposed to feel these things and she just wanted to know that she wasn’t
strange or wrong for feeling them.
“No, luv.” Spike began, while tucking a stray hair behind her ear. “It’s not
wrong.” pause “I have trouble resisting too.”
“You do?” Buffy expressed her surprised at this. Spike nodded.
“Yeah.” he answered. “The thought has crossed my mind of what it would be like
to…have you.” Spike treaded carefully around the words, not wanting to make
Buffy feel uncomfortable. She blushed a little but didn’t pull or look away from
him
“Hell, I practically dream about it. Then I have to remind myself that this is
all so new, not just for you but for me as well. It’s not something that should
be rushed. It’s not something that I want to be rushed. As much as I want you,”
he emphasized his ‘want’ of her by bringing her lower half closer to his, which
earned him a small gasp. “I don’t want you to feel pressured. I can wait.” he
finished.
“But what if I can’t?” Buffy asked, not caring if she sounded a little more than
desperate. Being so close to him did things to her, delicious things and she was
suddenly different from the Buffy that she had made herself out to be. Spike’s
eyes widened for like the umpteenth time that evening. “I’m not exactly known
for my waiting skills.”
Spike chuckled a little when he answered.
“Neither am I, kitten, but I’d wait for you. If I had to, I’d wait forever and I
know you’d be worth every bloody second.”
All the air seemed to get knocked out of Buffy’s lungs with Spike’s words. No
one had ever made her feel special with words before. There was an unfamiliar
but good sensation happening below the waist and she wanted more of it. Spike
turned her into mush with his words. No one had ever managed to do that.
“Just knowing that you’re even thinking of sharing that part of yourself with a
bloke like me is more than enough right now and if it does happen with us-"
“When it happens with us, William. Not ‘if’. When.” Buffy corrected him
immediately. If she wasn’t sure of it before, she was sure that Spike was the
one now. Unless he turned her down, Spike would be her first.
Spike just looked at her, not believing that she was as sure as she was about
the situation. Buffy hadn’t been with him long and already she was certain that
he would be the one to take her virginity. It was that she thought he was worthy
of such a gift that surprised him the most though. Not being able to resist her
any longer, Spike crashed his lips t hers in a hungry kiss.
Once again, Spike took Buffy’s breath away. Daring to be a little bolder in his
touch, Spike lightly grazed his fingers along the exposed skin of her stomach.
Buffy moaned into his mouth with delight and Spike took that as a sign to
continue his touch along the swell of her ample behind. Squeezing both globes in
his hands gently, Spike continued the pursuit of her mouth with his tongue.
Breaking away from her mouth, his lips began to travel across her jaw and to the
spot just behind her ear, knowing how much she liked it. Spike had learned
earlier that this was one of Buffy’s sweet spots. He pause his kisses long
enough to whisper in her ear.
“When it happens with us, it’s going to be right; it’s not going to be rushed or
regretted the next morning.” pause “It’s gonna be perfect because you’re perfect
and perfect is what you deserve.” he finished with a nibble to her ear.
Spike pulled back after a while and gave Buffy one last lingering kiss before
reluctantly saying good night.
“Sweet dreams, luv.” he purred.
*I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.* Buffy thought with a blissful sigh
as she watched him walk away. Before she lost her nerve, Buffy called out to him
to get his attention.
“Hey, Spike!”
Spike was half way down the path when he heard her call. He stopped walking and
turned around expectantly. Buffy blushed a little but mustered up enough courage
to say,
“That claim that I made on you earlier,” she started. “it goes both ways, you
know.” takes a deep breath. “I’m yours too.”
Spike gave her a boyish smile and winked before turning around and resuming his
walk back to the car. He knew that if he gave into another kiss, getting home
before he broke curfew would be a bit of a problem.
Buffy waved him off and went inside, not remembering a time where she felt so
happy.
Spike drove home with the exact same feeling.
*************
Pulling up to his uncle’s house, Spike turned off the ignition and hopped out of
the car. There was a bit of a bounce in his step as he made his way to the front
door, not to mention the jolly song he was whistling along the way.
*That’s what love does to a bloke.*
Spike paused a bit when he realized what he just thought. Did he love Buffy?
Could he love Buffy? More importantly, could she love him? Spike was seriously
about to give the idea some serious thought but footsteps from behind halted
him.
To say that Spike was shocked at who was standing behind him was the bloody
understatement of the decade. This wasn’t exactly someone he was thought he
would ever see again. The possibility never really crossed his mind. Besides, he
had ignored that part of his life and for a while now.
Maybe he was imagining things. Yeah, that’s what it was. This was all in his
imagination. Closing his eyes to gain some smidgen of reality, Spike was
disappointed to find that he wasn’t imagining things when he opened them again.
Not a dream.
Not a hallucination.
She was really standing not even ten feet away from him.
“Dru?”
“Hello, my William.”
*Balls!*
********
*************************
Spike had decided that the higher powers had a really fucked up sense of humor
when it came to his life. The woman standing not more than ten feet away from
him had been the cause of his heartache and the reckless decisions he made
because of her betrayal. The woman standing not more than ten feet away from him
had been the cause of his coldness and bitter nature towards the opposite sex.
Spike hadn’t exactly thought about her in a while. He chose to block that part
of his life out of his memory.
It didn’t do him much good though because said woman was here now...
Standing in his uncle’s front yard....
Yep....the fates must be laughing their asses off.
“What the hell are you doing here, Dru?” Spike nearly growled out, as he walked
down the steps toward her.
Gone was the shock and discomfort of seeing his past love. Spike had once
thought that if he had ever saw her again, he would be able to say all the
things he never got to say when she ripped his heart out and spat on it. He’d
even rehearsed it a few times in his head over the past three years. He’d tell
her how wrong she was about him and vice versa and say how her leaving bettered
him in the long run. Seeing her now, however, made Spike sick to his stomach. He
wanted nothing to do with her. There was nothing left to say. Now, Spike just
wanted her gone.
“Grrrr....Bad dog!” Dru growled as she walked up the path until she was invading
his personal bubble. “Is that any way to talk to the woman you love.” she
pouted. Once upon a time, that same pout proved to be Spike’s undoing but that
time had longed passed and he wasn’t as moved by it anymore. He gave her a ‘you
have gotta be bloody kidding me’ look before responding.
“Correction: You’re the woman I use to love.” he started, taking a step back
from her when she tried to caress his face. “If memory serves, you and I parted
ways a good while back and not on the best of terms, might I add.”
“You’re still cross with me.” whimpered Dru. Spike just shook his head and
clenched his jaw.
Was he still cross with her??!!!
He could not believe her! She was unfaithful to him for a good portion of their
relationship and when Spike finally found out about it, Dru practically threw it
in his face; she blamed him for her wandering ways. Apparently, he wasn’t ‘man
enough’ or some such rot. In the end, she didn’t even have the decency to
apologize.
Was he still cross with her?
“Well, DUH!” was so close to escaping Spike’s lips that he had to bite them in
order to prevent it. He wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of knowing how much
she hurt him.
“I never meant to hurt you, my love.” Dru stepped closer to him once more. “I
want to make it up to you. I want to be your dark princess again.” Tracing
Spike’s jaw with her index finger, she resumed. “Let me make it up to you,
hmmmm?”
As deceitful and tactless as Drusilla had been, Spike still loved her long after
their relationship had ended. He still hoped that she would come to her senses
and take him back. Not too long ago, the words she had just spoken would’ve been
music to his ears. Not too long ago, Spike would’ve accepted nothing more and
ran into her arms blinded by happiness. Well, there wasn’t any love-y dove-y
music and Spike certainly wasn’t running merrily into Dru’s arms.
There was, however, laughter.
Lots and LOTS of nearly hysterical laughter.
Dru didn’t even blink an eye. She just watched as tears practically rolled down
Spike’s cheeks as he held his sides. She didn’t exactly find any humor to what
she had just said but then again, neither did Spike.
“You’re.....laughs.....sorry?” Spike composes himself enough after a few good
chuckles. He invades Drusilla’s personal space this time and repeats the
question with a glare. “You’re SORRY?!”
Dru didn’t back down or shy away from his glare. She had never been one for
weakness. That’s what Spike use to love about her: her strength. Right now
though, it was getting on his last nerve. She didn’t even attempt to look guilty
or sheepish.
“It’s been three years, Dru THREE...BLOODY...YEARS!” Spike exclaimed,
emphasizing each word by punching one fist into an open palm. It longer
registered to him that he was in his uncle’s front lawn, screaming his lungs
out. Nothing registered right now. This conversation was long overdue. “I
haven’t heard one word from you, not even a bloody phone call, in three years.”
he said. “You waltz back into my life now because....you’re sorry?”
It wasn’t Dru’s lack of an answer that boiled Spike’s insides. It was the
devilish grin that she was wearing on her face that got him heated. Spike had
never hit a woman and was dead set against men that did but Dru was really
pushing it. He bravely pushed his inner demon aside and continued on.
“Why the sudden change of heart, baby?” he asked with a sneer. “It’s not like
you were ‘sorry’ when you slept with Ryan or John or half of the other blokes in
merry old England.” Spike began to pace in front of her now. “I mean did you
wake up in the arms of your latest screw boy and realize how much you missed me?
Or did you suddenly get bored and decide to look me up for another round of
‘Kick the Spike’?”
Spike stopped his pacing and resumed his position back in front of Drusilla, who
was strangely quiet throughout his ranting, not that her input would’ve mattered
at this point anyway. That grin was still spread proudly across her face though.
Spike resisted the urge to shake her. She obviously hadn’t matured one tiny bit.
Everything was still a bloody joke to her.
“Well, you know what Dru? Too bad!” Spike replied. “I’m not that man anymore!
I’m not YOUR man anymore and you have no place in my life. It amazes me that I
believed you ever did.” pause “I’m not going to forget the past three years
because you’re sorry.
Spike was breathing heavily through his nose and was very flushed in the face.
He glared coldly down at Dru once more before saying the four words that would
hopefully send her on her way. For good.
“Have a nice life.” Not waiting for a reply, Spike gave Dru a once over
accompanied by a huff and in a swish of black leather he was walking back
towards the front door.
Spike had finally gotten the closure that he had dreamed of. It felt as if a
huge weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. Maybe now, he could start his
healing...with Buffy. Maybe now, he could finally tell her everything about Dru
and his past.
A cackling laugh was the only thing that made Spike stop in his tracks but he
still wouldn’t face her. Of course, Drusilla wasn’t going to make this easy on
him. She just had to have the last word.
“My William really has been a bad dog!” Dru snickered with a far off look in her
eyes. .
“Dru-" Spike started but was cut off by a sudden whimper. He profiled his stance
so that he could glance in her direction.
“You left me alone in the dark while you played in the light with your new
dolly.” Drusilla was holding her head in her hands, while moaning quietly to
herself.
Dru had always been a bit strange and once Spike thought it was one of the many
things that had attracted him to her.
What the hell had he been thinking?!!
“If I thought you were crazy before....” Spike trailed off. He had absolutely no
clue what she was talking about but he knew that he would soon find out.
“My Spike found a new dolly and forgot all about princess.” she wailed, letting
her hands fall back to her sides.
Spike’s eyes widened in realization. It was clear to him now who Drusilla was
referring to.
*Buffy.*
“So what if I did move on? You lost your claim on me along time ago.” He decided
to keep his cool. There was no way he was going to let her knowledge of his
relationship with Buffy get to him. *How the hell did she know about me an’
Liz?*
“You belong to me.” she growled.
“I belong to no one!” Spike returned darkly through clenched teeth, as he turned
to face her fully. Who did she think she was?!
“Not even your new dolly?” asked Drusilla with a raised brow. Spike’s eyes
shifted a little but it was enough for her to notice. With a smirk, Dru answered
her own question. “No, of course not. Her light shines too bright for the likes
of you.” she mocked.
“Screw you.” Spike seethed. He was getting fed up. If she didn’t leave soon,
Spike would not be held accountable for what he might do next. Dru had no right
to talk of things she didn’t understand and his relationship with Buffy was none
of her business.
“You hide yourself from her.” continued Dru as if she had never heard him.
“Dolly doesn’t know Spike’s dirty little secrets; but I do and I’m still here.”
she pointed out as she prowled her way back over to him like a tiger ready to
pounce. “Will you new dolly still be here when she finds out what you’ve done?”
Spike’s heart sped up and pounded harder. Dru may be a little strange but she
spoke the truth even if it had never been revealed to her. He had always
wondered how she knew such things. Spike never had been a believer in seers or
psychics. He had always figured that Dru was really good at reading people. She
not only knew about his relationship with Buffy but Dru also knew that he had
been holding back with her. It made Spike wonder just how long Drusilla had
actually been in town.
“I’ll be seeing you, my dark prince. Sweet dreams.” Dru placed a quick chaste
kiss upon Spike’s lips before he even had a chance to stop her and in the blink
of an eye, she was gone.
Spike took a deep breath closed his eyes. Dru was planning something and it was
something bad. She had that evil glint in her eyes and if what Spike thought was
true, Dru would prove to be a real problem for him and Buffy.
It was time Spike told Buffy everything.....
Before Drusilla got a chance to do it for him....
