The party was so boring she could have died again. Buffy left the dancing and
sat at the kitchen bench, burying her head in her arms. The presents were so
typical - books, clothes, blah, blah, blah. She missed Spike. Her Spike. Or at
least he should be her Spike... for all he knew she hated him. Buffy felt like
crying.
A knock came at the door, and she gladly jumped up to answer it. She swung it
open, and Spike smiled back at her. She practically fainted from relief. "Hey!"
She cried with a little more enthusiasm than she would normally allow around
Spike. Then she saw the purple bruise swelled around his eye. "Oh god..."
"Hello, luv." Spike moved closer to her. "Happy Birthday."
Buffy touched his face gently. "Your eye..."
"S'okay." Spike kissed the tips of her fingers gently. Buffy blushed, and moved
away slightly.
"Buffy?" Anya interrupted, oblivious to the heavy sexual tension between Vampire
and Slayer. "It's time for Pin The Tail on the Donkey."
Buffy rolled her eyes apologetically at Spike, and followed her friend. Spike
grabbed a beer from the trough of ice on the floor and followed.
*
Buffy sat down on the couch next to Spike, relieved that the kiddie game was
over. He smiled at her.
"What?"
"Nothing. Who's the ponce?"
"Richard. Some guy Xander invited-"
"To set you up with?" Spike asked, his bitterness evident. Buffy smiled.
"Technically, yes."
"Not your type?" Spike observed.
"He's... sweet."
"Shutup, he's sweet." Spike's hand moved to her thigh. Buffy shooed it away
gently, but Spike didn't budge. Instead, his hand moved under her skirt,
stroking the soft skin. "I got you a present, luv."
"It better not involve me putting my hand in your pocket." Buffy said
cautiously. Spike chuckled, and pulled a silver box out of his duster pocket.
Buffy unwrapped it, curiously, to find a small chain with a red stone that
glowed back at her. She let out a gasp.
"It's beautiful..." she stared at Spike, and kissed him gently, but not before
checking that noone was behind her.
Seeing that the coast was clear, she straddled him, kissing him passionately.
she pulled away briefly to hiss, "Upstairs. Now."
*
She pushed Spike onto the bed, ripping off her top. Spike flipped her over,
taking off his own shirt, letting Buffy run her fingers over the defined abs. He
pulled her skirt up, ripping off her panties, then ravishing her clit with his
tongue quickly. Buffy moaned in response, bucking her hips towards him, pleading
for more.
*
"Where's the Buffster? It's cake time!" Xander announced.
"I think she's upstairs." Dawn said. "I'll go get her."
*
Spike was mid thrust when the door swung open. His head snapped up to see Dawn.
Buffy wasn't aware of her sister's shocked presence until Dawn screamed, quickly
exiting and slamming the door.
From the foot of the stairs, Xander stared up at Dawn. "You okay?"
"Um... Buffy was naked... with...without clothes on." She provided nervously.
"Naked?" Xander asked, confused.
"Getting changed." Dawn explained, hurrying downstairs.
Spike turned back to an anxious Buffy, who was wrapped in a sheet. "She covered.
Saying you were getting changed."
Buffy sighed. "Oh god, oh god! She knows!" Spike sat down next to her and tried
to soothe her by kissing her, running his fingers through her golden locks of
hair. Buffy whimpered.
"What do we do?"
"We face the music, luv. We can't avoid Dawn now."
"Well we have to!" buffy cried angrily. "This is all your fault!"
Spike rolled his eyes. "How about this? We go downstairs, and act normal. Then
we talk to the Nibblet later."
"Oh, yeah. You coming downstairs with me is going to be reaL normal, Spike."
"So, I go out the window and pretend I went for a smoke." Spike sighed, and
muttered, "You act all bloody high and mighty and precious like usual."
Buffy heard him and grabbed his arm. "What's that meant to mean?"
"Nothing." Spike pulled away and went to unlatch the window, climbing out. Buffy
grabbed at him again.
"Seriously."
"Oh, seriously? Don't bloody think I'm stupid. You're using me, I'm just your
naughty little secret that makes you feel better after a hard day. Don't even
consider that I bloody love you and I can't stop wanting you."
"You have me!" Buffy shot back nervously. The things he was saying scared her...
he was too right.
"I have your body for a few hours and then you leave. I want all of you for a
lot longer than that." Spike admitted the last part quietly. Buffy smiled at
him. "I like it when you're him."
Spike looked confused. "Who?"
"William." Buffy moved closer, putting her hand on his. "When you're sweet and
caring, and you get that really gorgeous look of love in your eyes..." she moved
her other hand to his thigh, stroking it gently, and playing with his fingers
with her other hand. "I just get scared."
"Of?" Spike's cool breath whispered against her ear.
"Losing you. Like all the others."
Spike grabbed her hand in his and kissed it. "Luv, I was with the same woman for
over 100 years. She must has cheated on me thousands of times. What does that
tell you?"
"That you're stupid?" Buffy quipped.
Spike glared at her. Buffy quickly changed her words. "Or faithful."
Spike kissed her gently when the door opened again.
"Look, guys! I don't care how much you want each other -"Dawn grimaced, "- But
everyone is wondering where the hell you are, buffy, and cake is ready." Then
she slammed the door shut.
Buffy blushed. "I guess I better get dressed."
Spike ran his hand up her naked thigh. "You look perfect right now."
Buffy smiled. "See you downstairs?"
Spike nodded, and was about to jump to the ground below when he turned and
grabbed Buffy, shocking her with a passionate kiss that lasted until she was
breathless.
Buffy gasped when he pulled away, instantly missing the connection. "Wow. Good
kiss.... very good kiss."
*
Buffy hurried downstairs to her friends who were crowded in the lounge room,
cheering the birthday song for her. She heard the back door swing open and was
soon joined by Spike.
As she went to blow out the candles, she felt Spike's hand gently caressing the
small of her back. Tingles erupted through her body at his touch. Wishing it
would always be there. Her Spike.
All the candles went out.
