MISERY LOVES COMPANY
Dawn woke up startled to see Spike and Buffy asleep next to each other. Luckily, she thought, they still had their clothes on so nothing else happened. Spike woke up and looked over at Dawn smiling at him, he carefully got out of bed trying not to wake Buffy. Buffy groaned and rolled over still fast asleep. Spike and Dawn climbed up the ladder, to go and talk where they wouldn’t disturb Buffy.
Once up stairs Dawn hugged Spike tightly,
“So…Are you a couple yet?”
Spike smiled slyly,
“I don’t think so luv, I mean we did kiss, but I think we’re just friends. For now anyway.”
Dawn giggled, she had hoped for so long that Buffy and Spike would get together.
“You’ll never guess what has happened, you remember I said that Magic will always turn and bite you in the ass?”
Dawn nodded,
“Well it did, well actually it was more like a nibble.”
Spike lifted up the mirror that he had on the table, Dawn saw the reflection and gasped,
“Spike, you have a reflection, that’s so cool.”
“I know, but I like the way I look.”
Dawn looked thoughtful,
“I prefer the way your hair looks now, even though it did look cool before, now it just looks cooler.”
Spike shook his head and laughed,
“I know Buffy told me the same thing.”
“Well you know the saying Spike, great minds think alike.”
“Yeah Dawn, but fools seldom differ.”
Dawn playfully smacked Spike arm and they both started to laugh.
“What’s the joke?” Buffy asked smiling,
“Morning Luv, sleep well?”
Buffy yawned,
“I slept like a baby.”
Dawn smiled,
“That’s good, cause I know you’ve been having trouble sleeping.”
They all knew why Buffy had slept better; it was because Spike had been there next to her.
“Got anything to eat?” Dawn asked
Spike gave her a wicked grin,
“Well I have some blood in the fridge. Fresh too got it yesterday. Other than that, no.”
Dawn laughed and Buffy just shook her head.
“Well we could all go back home and get something there.”
“Sure, Spike are you coming too?”
Spike smiled,
“Course luv, never could refuse the offer of a lovely lady.”
Buffy and Dawn climbed back down the ladder and got their stuff and they all walked to the door. Spike threw the blanket over his head and began to run. Dawn and Buffy walked quickly.
When they arrived, Spike on the doorstep and his blanket was smoking,
“Would really appreciate it if you would hurry up a little bit.”
Buffy and Dawn ran up the steps and opened the door and Spike jumped inside quickly.
Dawn and Buffy laughed at Spike as he dusted himself off.
“It’s not bloody funny, how would you like to eat breakfast with big pile of dust?”
Buffy shook her head,
“Gee, I remember when I was gonna get married to big pile of dust and register as big pile of dust.” Buffy giggled,
Spike remembered the incident when Willow’s spell went haywire
And Buffy and Spike were gonna get married.
They all laughed and walked into the kitchen.
Buffy pulled some frozen waffles out of the freezer,
“Waffles ok?”
Dawn nodded and Spike just smiled,
“Don’t ask me, I’m just here for the company.”
They both shook their heads at him and Buffy put the waffles in the waffle machine.
Buffy sat down next to Spike and they were all silent for a while until Spike spoke up,
“I still can’t believe I have a reflection. Magic is supposed to kick you in the ass, not kiss it.”
Dawn and Buffy laughed,
“At least you got someone kissing your ass.” They all started to laugh hysterically, until tears streamed down their faces.
The front door opened and all the Scoobies walked inside, surprised to see Spike, Dawn and Buffy laughing their heads off.
“What’s so funny?” Xander asked.
“Magic.” Dawn replied as they all started to laugh again.
Willow walked up to Spike,
“Spike, y-your back. Th-that’s good.”
“Thanks Will.” Spike smiled at her,
He liked Willow; she always had a nice thing to say.
“Yeah where ya been?” Anya asked
“I…um… Went to see a friend.”
“And got his ass bit.”
They all laughed again.
“Really?” asked Xander getting interested.
“Well in a sense.” Replied Spike.
“Spike, your hair looks cool like that.” Said Tara
“Well thank-you Tara. I saw what it looked like before and decided I liked this better.”
Giles looked confused,
“You saw?”
“Yeah, Spike’s got a reflection. That’s why magic bit him the ass.”
Willow looked confused,
“You have a reflection?”
“Yeah, cool hey?”
“You used magic?” Tara was getting interested.
“No, my friend did, he’s an old warlock. Owes me a favor.”
“Well w-what did he do?”
Spike looked at Willow,
“I…Don’t like feeding on humans any more.”
They all stared at him,
“And…”
Said Buffy coaching him along,
“And what?” Said Spike pretending to be stupid.
“You got a…”
Spike said nothing, he was so stubborn.
“You got a conscience.”
They all stared at him is surprise.
“A conscience?”
Spike glared at Buffy,
“Well that’s what the lady said.”
Willow had a smile on her face,
“What spell did he use?”
Spike shrugged,
“Got me, just some spell that was in Latin. But that is not what we should be talking about right now, the taureum obitus. Ring a bell?”
They all looked at him and shook their heads.
“The century death. A group of Nasties who every century try to kill the slayer. He, meaning the leader, stabs the slayer and cover the blade with her blood, then he uses the same knife to stab him self. And then he becomes invincible and kills all the humans. So to speak.”
They all stared at him as if he were insane.
“They tried to capture Buffy last night. They are after her. Apocalypse now.”
They all said in Unisom,
“OOOHHH.”
“Yes, and the night of ‘nox gen Luna impedimentum’, night of moon obstruction. Or in other words...”
“An eclipse.” Anya chimed in.
“Yeah. The next eclipse is in three days.”
They all sat around the magic box, with piles of books scattered around them.
“There’s no bloody book that tells you how to kill them. It’s pathetic.”
They had been sitting around since that morning trying to find a way to kill them.
“Well I suppose we’re just gonna have to kill them the old fashioned way.”
Xander loved killing them the old fashioned way.
“In this book” started Willow, “it say’s that they need the slayer’s blood because it is pure.”
“Well, what do we do then?” Asked Anya, “Make her impure?’
“Maybe she can kill Spike, it may not make her impure but it would be fun.”
At that remark Buffy shot Xander an unimpressed glare.
“Maybe I should kill you, your human and that would make me impure.”
Xander had nothing to say.
Spike gave Buffy a big smile and she smiled back.
He loved her so much, he thought he was gonna die.
Buffy eventually decided to leave,
“Dawn’s alone at home, I should head back. Care to walk me Spike?”
Spike nodded his head and got up to leave,
“Night all.”
They walked out the door and left the others sitting with their mouths wide open,
“I knew Buffy loves him and all, but this is ridiculous.”
They all nodded their heads and went back to researching.
Buffy and Spike walked side by side, along the deserted roads. There was an awkward silence between them. They got to Buffy’s house and Buffy unlocked the door,
“Thanks for walking me.”
She smiled at stared into those hypnotic blue eyes and felt her knees go weak. She decided to get out of there as fast as possible.
“Well, guess I should go. Be seeing ya Buffy.”
He walked away into the shadows and she watched him. Dawn came rushing to her and hugged her,
“Hi Buffy, I’m glad you’re back. I was getting a little scared.”
Buffy just smiled at her.
“So, oh, where’s Spike?”
“Went home, had some evil thing to do.”
Buffy walked inside,
“Every thing okay?”
“Yeah, just a little noise made me freak, no biggie.”
Dawn didn’t want to alarm her sister. But the noise she heard wasn’t normal.
They both walked upstairs to get ready for bed.
Buffy lay in bed and tossed and turned. She couldn’t forget about the kiss that she and Spike had shared. It had been filled with heat desire; exactly what he had said when he first told her that he had loved her. It was strange that Spike knew so much about her, even things she didn’t know herself. It was as if he saw right through her. His lips had been so cold, yet so warm, she had felt such passion and want that she felt as if she was going to explode. She still hadn’t told him her feelings; she was still too scared. The words of the first slayer echoed in her mind, risk the pain, you will only loose love if you reject it.
He loved her and she knew it.
Dawn was asleep but an uneasy feeling woke her up, she looked at her doorway as two shadows moved past. She screamed,
“Buffy, those freaks are here.”
Buffy jumped out of bed and grabbed a stake off her bedside table; she stood up ready to fight. But they never came. She walked slowly to the door and peered out, there was no sign of them, Dawn must have been dreaming. She walked over to Dawn’s room and saw 7 of them. They were holding Dawn and trying to carry her away.
“This one has the same blood as the slayer.”
Buffy sprang up on them and dug the stake into the one’s back. It cried out and they all dropped Dawn. They turned to Buffy ready to fight. Dawn grabbed the sword from under her bed and lobbed one of the others heads off, she swung again and struck another. Dawn threw the sword to Buffy and she swung it again and again, until all that was left was a mass of green gooey stuff on the floor. Dawn hugged Buffy tightly; she was so glad that she was there. Buffy looked strangely at the sword,
“Where did you get this from?”
Dawn gave a small smile,
“When you were gone, Spike gave it to me and taught me how to use it. Incase I was ever in trouble.”
Buffy grinned, he was thoughtful sometimes.
Buffy and Dawn walked through the cemetery half an hour later with each of them holding a bag. They knocked on Spike’s door and walked inside. He was no where in sight. They carried their bags down the ladder to the lower level, and there he was sitting huddled in the corner reading a book.
“Spike?’
“Bloody hell women, didn’t anyone tell you never to sneak up on someone like that?”
Spike was wearing a blue shirt and his famous black pants.
“The demons know where I live, and they also know that Dawn has my blood. They just attacked us and tried to take Dawn.”
“Those sodding morons, are you hurt?”
“No, and that’s thanks to Dawn and her sword.”
Spike smiled,
“Good on ya Niblit, so did you did what I told you.”
“It was great, I chopped one’s head off.”
Spike laughed and Buffy shook her head, Dawn was getting more like Spike everyday.
“We need a place to stay, do you mind?”
Spike looked at her with a sarcastic smile,
“Well the Queen of England was gonna come and stay, but I guess our poker game will have to wait.”
Dawn laughed,
“Oh well, we wouldn’t want to come between you and the Queen.”
He looked at Buffy,
“Did you even have to ask?”
“Just making sure.”
“Well I’m tired.” Said Dawn yawning,
“You can sleep on my bed, Niblit.”
“Thanks Spike.”
Dawn climbed onto his bed and was asleep in two minutes.
Buffy smiled at Spike,
“You know she really admires you. And she’s not the only one.”
“Really, you admire me?”
Buffy nodded.
“But why?”
Buffy looked away shyly,
“You have no soul and yet you befriended me and Dawn, you looked after her when I was gone, you still do. You even went to get a conscience for her. And you think that’s not admirable?”
“Well she’s not the only reason I did all of that. It was the memory of you.”
She walked over to him and sat beside him.
“And anyway I know for a fact that there are a lot of people who admire you. Dawn, the Scoobies. Me.”
She looked at him astounded,
“You admire me?”
“Of course, what’s there not to admire? You risk your life everyday for a world that doesn’t know you are doing it. You gave your life for the world and Dawn. You even came back to life, it might have been hard but you succeeded. That’s what I admire.”
She kissed him softly and he wrapped his arms around her tightly. They broke their kiss and stared at each other. Buffy took his hand and led him up stairs. They began kissing more ferociously, and ripped each other’s clothes off.
“God I love you so much Buffy.”
Buffy smiled to herself.
They lay in each other’s arms, wrapped in a blanket. Buffy lay with her head on Spike’s chest and slept. Spike was so happy, he had Buffy in his arms. That’s all he ever wanted. He was the happiest man or vampire alive. Her hair smelt so sweet, her lips were warm and he felt loved and safe. He would do whatever he could to stay this way. He would even die for her. How he loved her? He could never explain.
