Chapter 1

"Buffy," a voice called from behind.

She turned around to see a gorgeous blond running towards her. She smiled to herself.

’Spike my best friend, who I have had a crush on since grade school. I’m sure he likes me too, but we have never gone past flirting and pecks on the cheek. He’s a rebel, mostly because his dad is the librarian, and every one knows school and home shouldn’t be mixed. All the girls want him and they keep trying to get with him. Platinum blonde hair, stunning blue eyes, high cheekbones, and a nice smile. But when he isn’t smiling he’s brutally honest…him and Cordelia. You look at him and he’s picture cute…until he opens his mouth...then he turns into an asshole.'

"Hey Spike," Buffy said smiling.

He stopped and sat down beside her as he tried to catch his breath, his blue eyes flashing.

Cordelia hated that he had high cheekbones. She would say, ‘I don’t understand why he gets those cheekbones and I have to use makeup to create the illusion that I have them.’

When he got his bearings he stood up placing an arm around her shoulder guiding her towards the quad.

‘The school was big and spacious with lots of kids. It was an indoor school and the walls circled around the campus so that when you walked out of the cafeteria there was a great open space everyone called the quad. As Buffy looked around the quad she noticed the different cliques. The cheerleaders, along with the jocks were all standing together on one side. On the other side she saw the geeks standing along with the loners. Then there were the people who just didn’t care standing by the stage or anywhere they were able to find a place to sit. Then her gaze settled on the people who wore all leather and black hanging by the fountain. That was her group, which consisted of herself, Spike, Tristen, Angel, and Cordelia.’

Tristen was already waiting with Angel and Cordelia.

"Hey," Buffy said walking up and taking a seat barely noticing the tiny girl at Tristen’s side.

"Oh, hey Buffy meet Willow, she’s new."

"Hi," Buffy said sticking out her hand.

The girl smiled and took it; she was small and pale with waist length brownish hair.

"Where are you from originally?"

"Oh, uh Ohio."

"Well I hear that’s the potato state…Is it made of potatoes?" Cordelia asked.

Buffy shook her head. How Cordelia Chase ever came to be one of them she did not know.

"This is William Giles, his dad is the librarian." Spike scowled at the use of his real name then shook Willow’s hand.

"It’s Spike," he said glaring at Buffy.

She smiled and stuck out her tongue.

He quirked a brow and rolled his eyes.

"Who do you have next?" Cordelia asked

"Mr. McLain."

"Cool, we have him next too."

"Oh my god, look at Xander!" Cordelia said pointing.

They all looked to where she was pointing by the double doors.

’Xander Harris, goof ball extraordinaire, was part of the popular group because of his girlfriend Amy. She had tried more than once to get Spike. Back in grade school they were all friends, but Xander thought he was too good for any of us. Ever since then they haven’t been friends’

He was on top of the table dancing. Amy, a girl who had a lot of guys after her because she was easy, was laughing as if his dance was hilarious.

"How did he end up in the popular group?" Buffy asked.

Cordelia shrugged and got up. Angel slipped an arm around her waist and nuzzled her neck.

’Angel and Cordelia had been together since freshmen year. Buffy used to go with Angel but they had broke up, too many complications. Now were just friends, more like brother and sister. With his soulful brown eyes and angelic face he could get away with murder. Cordelia was a major bitch. She always says exactly what’s on her mind and doesn’t let anyone mess with what’s hers. Cordelia was a good friend and she hoped she would never get on her bad side because behind those pretty brown eyes and big smile was a mouth that could stop a bullet.’

’Tristen was the quiet one of the group. He had gray eyes with tanned skin. He wore his hair like a surfer. Out of everyone he was the levelheaded one in the group. She had been friends with Tristen since-forever-he is family, cousin to be exact; he lives with Grams because his parents died in a plain crash. All the girls are always trying to get with him but he only wanted a long term thing with someone who had his heart and loved to be with him’

"I hate English," Buffy said pouting.

Tristen smiled and put an arm around her.

"Well I’m positive the teacher doesn’t like you," he said smiling.

Buffy slapped him playfully on the chest.

Before long the bell rang and together they made their way out of the classroom and towards the next class. The halls were thronging with other students and it was with great difficulty that they attempted to make their way to the stairs. They eventually gave up and waited by their lockers, which ironically were all together even Willow’s. When the bell rang the other students disappeared into the classrooms. They made their way up the stairs to room 56. Spike opened the door and they filed in. Since they were always late they sat in the back.

"This is the last time any of you will come to my class late. Next time I will have you removed from my roster,” he warned.

Cordelia smiled.

"Well it’s not our fault, you know...cramps," she whispered.

The teacher cleared his throat and paid no mind to the boys. They sat down in their usual seats. Willow sat behind Xander who was absently shaking her leg, which caused his chair to vibrate. He turned and glared at her.

"Do you mind?" he asked.

She looked up and smiled.

"No," she answered and went on shaking her leg.

Buffy snickered. That was pretty ballsy.

"Please take out ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’. Ms. Summers please continue where we left off on page 36."

Buffy smiled as she took out her book. She shared with Willow since she didn’t have one.

"The remainder of the school days were no more auspicious than the first..."

Finally after 2 hours of reading it was time for P.E.

’The locker rooms were being remodeled so no one had to dress out. The P.E. teacher was an ass that was always complementing the jocks, especially Parker Abrams. Parker was the school scholar and he had a smile to die for. She had gone out with Parker briefly but he had broke up with her because she wouldn’t ‘put out’. He told me: ‘girls would pay to be with me’ to which Buffy replied, ‘go find one of them’. He was so pissed about it that he harassed Buffy and her family till Spike and Tristen threatened him.’

Buffy sat down Indian style on the mat that they would be practicing on today.

Mr. Snyder came out. He was a short man that was starting to go bald. He had sharp, pointy teeth and he took great joy in seeing Buffy suffer.

"Now I hope you little brats brought your Band-Aids. We’re doing self defense today and no you won’t choose your partners."

He waited for the groans to die down before he continued.

"Now when I call your name stand up and form a line against the wall.

Armadas, Balm, Giles, Gardena, Summers, Parker, Rosenberg.

Give me that slip after class.

Franklin, Chase, O’Connor, Harris...

Ten minutes later

...Zavalo. Now I want all the girls on one side and the boys on the other."

They divided up as he stood in the middle of the line and took out a stick.

"When I touch you go to the next person I touch and choose a space on the mat."

He touched Amy to Spike, Tristen to Anya, Willow to Riley, Tristen to Tara, Angel to Harmony, Cordelia to Xander, and Buffy to...(great) Parker. Buffy groaned and chose a spot on the mat in between Angel and Spike.

"Now guys I want you to get behind the girls. Now reach over and trap her arms to her sides, just to make it interesting the first one to break the hold can skip running," he said. Snyder loved giving us a hard time, but everyone knew there was a loop in the reward somewhere.

Parker reached over skimming my chest trying to cop a feel. He stopped when I kicked him in the shin.

Buffy smiled to herself maybe this wouldn’t be completely bad.

"That wasn’t nice Summers," he whispered.

"I know," Buffy shrugged.

He grabbed her arms hard...too hard.

Buffy struggled in his grasp. She felt him pull her off the ground and she struggled against him. As she felt his fingers dig into her skin she cried out in pain.

"Mr. Abrams that is too rough!" Snyder said as he turned to look. He began making his way over, but Parker wasn’t listening.

Buffy’s feet were skimming the ground now and she was starting to panic.

"Put her down." Spike, Angel and Tristen said in unison coming to stand in front of Parker.

Parker smiled, as he continued, not listening to what was asked of him.

When Buffy realized that Parker wasn't going to stop she decided to take things into her own hands. She head butted him hard.

He cried out and dropped Buffy.

She fell to her knees. Spike and Willow helped her up. Buffy turned around to see Parker’s face all bloody.

"Bitch!" he spat.

"Finn take Parker to see the nurse."

Parker turned to leave and shoved Spike and Angel aside.

They didn’t hear the threat he made as he swore under his breath. “It's only a matter of time before I’ll have you Summers.”

Chapter 2

"What happened in P.E?" Willow asked they were seated at a table in Starbucks.

"We go way back, bad break up no big," Buffy answered settling in the ‘oh too comfortable’ embrace of Spike’s.

"Are you two together?" Willow asked.

He chuckled and sat up. "No just good friends."

"Oh y-you guys fit," she said interlocking her fingers in a fitting gesture.

"They know they just won’t try it," Cordelia said.

"Shut up." Buffy said rolling her eyes and getting up.

"I’m hungry let’s go eat."

"The way you eat I’m surprised you’re not as big as a house."

Buffy hit him up side the head.

"What the hell- you and that mouth!"

"I was just joking."

"Don’t joke about my weight," she pouted.

"Will you look at tha’ lip?" Spike said a smirk in place.

"Let’s go I’m getting sick of the denial,” Cordelia said grabbing Angel’s hand.

"I’ll see you guys at my place tomorrow," Tristen said as they headed out.

Cordelia waved and slipped out the door followed by Angel.

"Well...what time is it?" Willow asked.

"8:00pm."

"Oh...shit I’ve really got to go!"

"Do you need a ride?" Tristen asked.

She nodded and practically flew out of the chair and out the door not even waiting for Tristen.

"I’d say she’s late for something,” Spike said.

Tristen shrugged, pecking Buffy on the cheek and following Willow.

They sat in comfortable silence for about a half hour, which was broke by Buffy’s stomach growling. She looked up in embarrassment.

"I told you I was hungry," she said.

"Let’s go then. What do you fancy?"

"I am actually past curfew drop me off."

He nodded and got up.

Chapter 3

"Thanks Spike wanna come in. My mom should be home and it’s lasagna night."

"I can’t. Actually got an English paper due tomorrow, I’ll call you later."

"Later," she said grabbing her pack and heading to the door.

Spike waited for her to close the door before he took off.

Buffy watched him turn the corner and fade into the night. From behind her she heard footsteps and turned around.

"Dad." Buffy said eyeing him.

He smiled at her and tipped the beer bottle to his lips.

"Hey Buffy. Your mom’s not home. She had to go to L.A for the week, so it’s just me and you and a couple of buddies of mine."

Buffy’s face paled. ‘This always happens when mom isn’t around’. She turned and walked up the stairs ignoring his heavy breathing as he followed her.

"What do you want?"

"I just wanted you to meet my friends. They are waiting for you in your room."

"What!" she asked, fear gripping her.

"You know what! You’ve done it before."

"Dad you- you let your friends do those things to me. Why? I haven’t done anything to you and I’m not letting them do it again," she said walking into the hall.

Her dad threw the bottle against the wall. It shattered as it hit the wall causing Buffy to jump.

"Damn it Buffy! Do you want your mother to have to do it? We need extra money!"

"No we don’t! And I’m not doing it!" She yelled, trying to run past him.

He grabbed her around the waist and hauled her off the ground. He was two times bigger then her, plus stronger and it didn’t faze him that she was kicking and screaming trying to get out of his grasp. He walked to her room and threw her on the floor kicking her so she stayed down. He took out a syringe with a sedative in it.

Buffy desperately tried to crawl away from him as she frantically tried to catch her breath.

He backhanded her across the face then sat on top of her effectively holding her down.

She struggled against him and slapped him across the face.

He turned her head, pinning her arms down with his knees and stuck the needle in her neck. He stayed that way until she stopped struggling.

"Now Buffy you can breathe, but can’t move. You’ll be alright in about an hour," he said getting up. He lifted her body up and deposited her onto the bed.

Two men stepped from the shadows and sat on either side of her. A tear escaped her eyes and her dad wiped it away.

"This is Tim and Damian," Hank said getting up and going towards the door. "I’m going to the office. Lock the house on your way out." He said to the two men as he left.

Buffy tried to move but her limbs would not cooperate. She closed her eyes when she saw the men start stripping.

"Wanna play," Tim said before enclosing his mouth on her neck and began working on taking off her shirt.

Chapter 4

Next Day

"Hey Tristen have you seen Buffy?" Spike asked as he fell into step with him on their way home.

"No I called her, but no one answered the phone, why?"

"Well I called her yesterday when I came home and that prick of a father answered the phone talkin’ bout Buffy was busy with a friend."

"We can stop by right now if you want."

"Alright I just have a bad feelin’ is all. You know what a bloody ponce her da is, especially when Joyce isn’t around."

Tristen nodded and turned the corner, Buffy’s Victorian house coming into view. They walked up the steps and knocked on the door. After a few minutes Buffy answered, but didn’t open the door all the way.

"Hey goldilocks," Spike said smiling.

She didn’t smile back, but kept her head down.

"Mind if we come in," Tristen asked.

"A-actually I’m not feeling well. I’m really tired," came her raspy voice.

Spike put his fingers under her chin and brought her face up. There were dried tear marks on her face and her hair was messed up. She had on a loose fitting t-shirt and baggy sweats.

"What happened?" he whispered blue eyes locking with green.

"I-I nothing I just had a bad night."

"You’re lying," Spike said dropping his hand.

"How the hell would you know?" she snapped.

His jaw tightened and he forced the door open. He walked in followed by Tristen.

"What happened Buffy?"

"Nothing, get out my house!"

"No," he said grabbing her arm.

"Aaaahh!" she yelled holding her arm where he had grabbed her.

He quirked a brow and moved her hand from the spot, then lifted her sleeve revealing a huge bruise. He held her long hair to the side and noticed the bruise on her neck.

"What the hell happened?"

"Nothing!" she yelled running up the stairs.

Tristen and Spike followed close behind.

"Buffy, luv I wanna help but you’re making it difficult," he said as his patience began to run thin.

They followed her into her room just as she ran into the bathroom. Before they could get to the bathroom she had locked the door leaving them unable to open it. Spike leaned his head on the door and knocked on it a few times as Tristen sat on the edge of her bed.

"Buffy, luv open the bloody door," Spike said.

Tristen looked around the room and he noticed a blue button down on the floor by her bed...it had blood on the edge of it.

"Spike," Tristen called holding up the shirt.

"What?" he asked turning around.

Tristen held up the shirt for Spike to see. He walked over and grabbed it noticing the blood. He looked at Tristen who mouthed ‘dad’. He walked back over to the door and knocked harder on it this time.

"Buffy if you don’t bloody open this damn door I’ll break it down!" he yelled as he began to bang on it.

Tristen got up and put a hand on his shoulder.

"I’m going to go meet Willow, Cordelia and Angel they’re probably already at my house," Tristen said walking towards the door. “Bye Buffy,” he called as he left the room.

Buffy was in the middle of the garden tub in her bathroom listening to Spike bang on the door. She prayed to god every second to take away what happened. She drew her knees up to her chest and put her head down wincing at the pain in her side as her tears streamed down her face. She didn’t look up when she heard Spike pop the lock and open the door.

"Buffy, pet what happened?" he asked softly coming to sit next to her.

She moved away from him until her side was smashed against the tub.

Spike drew in a breath, got up and moved to stand in front of her.

"Get up Buffy," he said.

She didn’t register him speaking to her. Her shoulders were shaking from the force of the sobs.

"Why Spike?" she whispered.

"Why what pet?"

"Why did he let them do those things to me?" she whispered finally lifting her head.

He grabbed her upper arms lifting them up ignoring her cries of protest. As he grabbed her waist he frowned when she let out a shill cry.

"Let me see," he said, not waiting for an answer as he lifted her shirt. He winced as he saw how bruised her ribs were. He turned her around and saw the long scratches going down her back.

She pulled her shirt down ashamed and stepped away from him.

"Who did this?"

"No one."

"Oh really!" he yelled. He left the bathroom, then came back holding the bloody shirt. She paled and her tears began to flow again.

"Who did it!" he yelled causing her to jump.

"If you won’t tell me I’ll call your mom…and the police!"

She paled and started to whimper.

"No!" she cried snatching the shirt from him. She ran out of the bathroom and down the stairs throwing it into the fireplace. She lit it and stood there watching it burn.

Spike came up behind her.

"Please pet, don’t shut me out,” he begged.

She turned around and stepped back.

"I can’t,” she whispered.

"Can’t what…tell me."

"No I can’t do...this,” she pointed all around her.

"What are you talking about?"

"Spike, wake up. Haven’t you ever noticed that I am never home with my dad alone?"

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"My mom left yesterday leaving me alone with my dad and his friends," she said her body shaking from anger and shame.

"Well what happened? You can tell me anything."

"Not this."

"Why not?"

"Because you wouldn’t know how to deal with it."

"Try me."

"No!"

"Why?"

"Because you would look at me differently…treat me different."

"No luv I won’t," he said grabbing her hand.

She swallowed the lump in her throat and looked up into his blue eyes seeing nothing but love.

"Yesterday when you dropped me off my-" she was cut off by the door opening and her father walking in.

"Hey Buffy," he greeted as he went over to her and gave her a hug.

She tensed and shut her eyes.

"Hey William."

"Mr. Summers."

"What are you two doing?"

"Oh I was just bringin’ Buffy her homework assignments."

"Very well I’ll be in my study."

"Bye," Spike said turning his gaze on Buffy when Hank left.

"What were you saying?"

"Nothing I-I-I’ll see you later." And with that she ran upstairs closing her door and locking it.

Spike let out a frustrated sigh and walked out the door.

Chapter 5

Two weeks later

Buffy avoided everyone, she went to school but made sure no one could find her at lunch, unless it was Spike.

He walked up to the door of Buffy’s house, as he was the only one that Buffy would talk to besides a few calls to Tristen.

"Hello," he greeted walking into the house after Joyce opened the door.

"Hello William, Buffy’s upstairs. Will you tell her I'm going now, there is money on the mantel to order pizza for dinner tonight."

"Will do,” he said walking up the stairs to Buffy’s room.

"Hey -" Spike started but stopped when he saw his friend staring off into nothingness. He walked over to her and laid a hand on her shoulder.

"You ok Buffy."

"William."

"What?" he looked at her, not liking that she had used his real name.

"I was ...I-I…"

"What?"

"…raped"

"When?" he whispered.

"Two weeks ago, I couldn't tell anyone I was so ashamed.”

"Do you want me to take you to the hospital?"

"It’s too late for that Will, but I think I might be pregnant."

Chapter 6

"How much longer?"

"Thirty seconds," Spike answered.

After Buffy told him, she took out the one she bought a while back when she missed her period.

"It’s ready," Spike told her.

Buffy got up and walked towards the sink. She picked up the small stick and let out a breath, as tears began making their way down her face.

"It’s negative!" he exclaimed.

Buffy cried harder.

"I know!"

"W-what’s wrong did you want a baby?" he asked his brow fusing together.

"No," she shook her head smiling through the tears.

"Those are happy tears?" Spike asked.

"BUFFY!" her father called.

She tensed in Spike’s arms and pulled away cleaning up the evidence from the test. Then she wiped the tears from her face.

"Yeah Dad!" she called back.

He came into the bathroom not noticing Spike.

"I’m having company over for dinner you should get ready."

Buffy’s face paled

"Uh, Mr. Summers, Joyce said Buffy could stay with me for dinner. It’s a family thing."

"Oh I’m sure she can miss it. This is important, right Buffy?"

She didn't answer, but ducked her head. Then she began to wring her hands and fiddle with her waist length hair.

"No, sorry mate, me mum already got supper ready. I came to get her," Spike said grabbing her hand and walking past him. He ignored Hank’s calls for Buffy to come back. He didn't let go of her hand even after they were outside.

"When is your mum getting home?" he asked walking down the block.

"In three days."

"You can stay with me,” he said not looking at her.

"What, I can’t Spike!"

He stopped walking and grabbed her shoulders and looked into her hurt, frightened eyes.

"You bloody well will! I’m not letting that tosser rape you again!"

Buffy looked bewildered.

"He didn’t rape me."

"Oh, well who did?"

She looked away from him, tears threatening to surface. He shook her roughly.

"Who?" he said firmly.

A tear slipped down her cheek and she looked him straight in the eye.

"They paid him to do it," she whispered.

He let go of her and looked at her, horrified.

"Who?"

"Two of his friends."

"Bloody hell! Does your mom know this happened?"

"I can’t tell her and if you love me you won’t either."

"Buffy, luv I can’t let them hurt you again."

"It won’t happen again."

"Damn straight because when your mom gets home and only when she is there will you go back," he said taking her hand and leading her towards his house.

She sighed and let him lead her away.

"Where have you been Will?" Giles asked when he walked into the house.

"I went to see Buffy. Is it ok if she stays for dinner?"

"Of course," Giles said moving to his study.

Spike led Buffy all the way in and took her upstairs. The door to his room was painted black. His bedroom walls were white and covered with shelves that were full of cd's and books. On the far wall sat a king-size bed. His sheets were blood red and black. His dresser, which sat against the wall by the door, had pictures of himself, Buffy, Cordelia, Angel, and Tristen. On the other side of the door was a walk-in closet. At the foot of the bed was an entertainment center and the floor had black carpeting.

Spike took off his duster laying it on a chair, then taking a seat on the bed patting a space in front of him for Buffy.

"Tell me," he stated.

She fidgeted, but didn’t make a move.

He got up and grabbed her hands leading her to the bed.

"Tell me pet. I can’t help you if you don't."

She looked up at him and nodded. She took her hands from his and scooted back until her back was against the headboard.

"I was twelve...my mom had a gallery opening and my dad had to work so she told me to stay with him since I had school..."

Chapter 7

"Dad," Buffy called.

She was twelve years old. She wore a pink shirt with a denim skirt her and her sandy hair hung in a low ponytail.

"Dad," she called again. She walked towards the living room. He was sitting with his back to her talking to someone.

"Dad?" she asked again walking towards the chair he was sitting in. She noticed the person he was talking to was one of the neighborhood Dads.

"Hi," he said.

She smiled. As she walked into the living room she tripped over a beer bottle and noticed there were three more beside it.

"Buffy dear that you?"

"Yeah. Dad why are you drinking? You know Mom doesn't like it when you drink."

"Buffy you’re old enough to know that we need a job in order to pay bills."

"Yeah."

"Well I lost my job and my friend would like to hire you."

"You have a job Daddy."

"See I have to find a new one Buff. Will you help Daddy?"

"I-I guess," she answered nervously looking at her neighbor.

He was smiling as he eyed her up and down.

She hugged herself; eyeing him back.

He got up and walked over to her and brushed aside her hair that was hanging loosely.

She flinched at his touch, not liking the way he was looking at her.

"What do you want me to do…I can clean or-"

"No... No honey nothing like that," Hank said getting up. He walked over to her and began stroking her hair in a soothing manner.

"You need to go with him upstairs."

"Why?"

"He is just going to..."

"Play with you."

"Play what?" she asked backing away.

"I- shit she asks a lot of questions," The man said turning to Hank.

"Just take her. I'll be back in an hour or so,” he said taking a wad of bills from his friend.

"What are you talking about?"

Her father ignored her question and walked out leaving her alone with his friend.

Her father’s friend walked towards her. The look on his face menacing as he leaned in closer. When he attempted to grab her she sidestepped, turned and ran upstairs.

"Buffy honey," he called in a singsong voice.

"Get the hell away from me!" she said as she ran into her room and locked the door.

He knocked on the door and tried to force it open.

She frantically pushed her small dresser to block the door. She looked around and spotted her phone. Just as she reached it and picked it up to call for help he disconnected it.

"Shit!" She heard her lamp drop to the floor behind her as someone bumped into her nightstand. She turned around and realized that her bathroom door was open.

He stood in front of the door blocking her escape. He closed the door and locked it.

"Come here I don’t want to force you."

"Then don’t do this," she said through gritted teeth as she looked for something to throw. She grabbed one of her porcelain dolls and heaved it at him.

He side stepped it easily.

She threw another hitting him in the head and he fell on the floor not moving.

She didn’t want to turn her back on him so she inched her way around him. Just as she made it to the door and placed her hand on the knob he grabbed her ankle and pulled her down. She tried kicking but he was bigger and stronger than she was. She punched and scratched him, but left little damage.

He used his knees to pry her legs apart and inched his way between her legs and positioned himself. Her eyes widened and she fought harder to no avail.

She pulled at his hair, but he grabbed her tiny wrists and held them encased with one hand while he unzipped his pants with the other.

"STOP! STOP! HHHHHHHHHEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLP!" She yelled.

Her screams were drowned out as he covered her mouth with his. He reached down and tore away her undies. She screamed into his mouth, but this just seemed to excite him as he thrust his tongue into her mouth. Running out of ideas she bit down hard on his tongue. He cried out and leaned halfway up. She scratched him across the face as she struggled to get out from under him.

He moaned deep in his throat then thrust into her in one quick motion. She sucked in a breath and let out a shrill cry as pain laced through her entire body. He didn’t wait for her to adjust to his size and began to thrust into her ignoring her cries. Tears streamed down her face when the pain didn’t stop. When he finally came, he rolled off her, stood up and straightened his clothes. He left her lying on the floor and without a backwards glance he moved the dresser and walked out slamming the door behind him.

She laid there for what seemed like hours. Her entire body ached. She glanced down at her bruised and bleeding body and felt dirty. She was so ashamed. She didn’t think she would ever be clean again. She slowly walked to the bathroom and turned on the shower faucet. She climbed into the shower and scrubbed her skin until it was raw.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I didn’t tell anyone I was scared and ashamed... Why did that happen to me?" she sobbed leaning her head on her knees.
Spike reached for her as her body was racked with sobs.
"Come here pet," he said.
She didn’t move so he pulled at her arms until she moved. She sat on his lap as he stroked her hair and lulled her.
"I won't let anything happen to you pet,” he promised.
It seemed like hours had passed when she finally stopped crying her eyelids grew heavy and she inhaled the scent of Spike. As she rested her head on his chest she finally dropped off to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chapter 8

"William," Giles called as he walked into his room. He was surprised to see that Buffy was asleep with William’s arm protectively around her. He smiled and walked to the end of the bed shaking him awake.

"William, dinner is ready and your Mum is getting restless."

"Huh," he said as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"Dinner is ready."

"Alrigh’ Da," he said closing his eyes.

Giles sighed as he shook him again.

Spike snapped awake and leaned up, blinking Giles into view.

"What happened Da?"

"Dinner, William hurry up."

Spike nodded, then got up and pulled the covers over Buffy.

"Shouldn’t you wake her?"

"She’s got a lot going on right now Da. I think she should sleep. See Buffy and her Da are having some problems and Joyce is out of town again," Spike said heading to the door.

Giles nodded as they left the room and closed the door behind him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Buffy’s eyes fluttered open and she looked around at her surroundings. She sat up slowly as she remembered what happened. She sighed and looked around the dark room. Someone had taken her shoes off…Must have been Spike she thought. As she considered this she got out of bed, left the room and made her way downstairs.
"Hello Buffy, did you sleep well?" Spike’s mom Jenny asked.
She nodded as she continued her search for Spike. She was rewarded when she heard Giles scolding Spike as he cursed. She made her way to the kitchen wondering what Spike was cursing about.
The kitchen was huge with an island in the middle. On the far wall she spotted a window above the kitchen sink. The window overlooked the back yard. Beside the sink was a counter and underneath it were the dishwasher and several drawers. At the end of the counter was a door leading out to the backyard. She glanced to the sidewall and saw a table. On the other side of it she saw a refrigerator and pantry. On either side of her she saw cabinets lining the walls with a counter under each. At the end of one was the stove and under that were more cabinets.
Spike was standing by the sink putting dishes in the dish rack and Giles was lecturing him on how to do it properly.
"Hey," she said as she walked into the kitchen.
Spike looked up at Buffy as he put a plate into the dish rack and smiled.
"Morning Sleeping Beauty, I saved you some dinner. It’s in the microwave."
"Thanks, but I’m not really hungry."
"You bloody will eat," he said firmly.
She shook her head no.
"I’m not hungry"
"You will eat Goldilocks if I have to force feed you," he said daring her with his eyes.
She sighed and got the plate out of the microwave, walked over to the island & proceeded to sit on a stool at the island frowning down at the plate she had placed there.
Giles couldn’t believe she had actually done what William had told her. He knew how stubborn Buffy could be.
"If you two will excuse me I have some research to do. Oh Buffy will you be staying the night? If so I need to get the guest room ready."
"Oh I-"
"Yes Da she will."
"Very well," he smiled and quickly exited the room.
She glared at Spike.
He only smirked.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"You’re not stayin’ with your Da. I told you that already."
"Have you ever thought maybe your parents didn’t want company?"
"You’re not company," he stated going back to his task.
She sighed and played with her roast and vegetables.
"What?" Spike asked going to sit next to her.
"Nothing."
"Liar, what’s wrong with the food?"
"...It’s too much."
"Please," she stared at him.
He sighed.
"Tell you what if you are a good lil’ girl I’ll give you a present."
"What kind?" she asked innocently.
"I’ll let you pick."
She smiled and took a bite of her food.
"Ok."
After dinner they headed back to bed.
"The guest room is down the hall," Spike said.
She smiled as she walked up to him and then gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Thank you," she whispered before walking into the guest room and closing the door.
Chapter 9
She was running in a cemetery, but she didn’t know what from. Every time she drew a breath it hurt. Try as she might she couldn’t stop running. Without any warning she suddenly found herself up to her neck in water. She sucked in her breath as she found herself being pulled under. She kicked furiously, making it to the surface, but something grabbed her ankle and dragged her back down. Her heart was pumping furiously as she looked down. ‘Dad’ she thought panicking more.
He smiled wickedly as he pulled her back down into the rushing black water.
Her lungs felt like they were on fire. She shook her head trying to get air into them.
"Nnnnnnnooooo!" she yelled sitting up in bed taking in big gulps of air. Beads of sweat were dripping from her body and her tears rushed to the surface. There was no holding them back any longer as her body was racked with sobs. She didn’t notice Spike entering the room.
He walked over to the bed and sat on the edge enveloping her in a hug.
"What happened luv?" he whispered as he rubbed her back. His answer was more sobs.
Several minutes later after Buffy had finally calmed down she looked up at him.
"I’m sorry if I woke you.” Her voice raspy.
"It’s ok. What happened?"
"Bad dream, I’ve been having them a lot lately."
"Care to share."
"N-No…I don’t want to talk about it."
He nodded and got up ready to leave when she put a hand on his arm.
"Stay with me...please, I usually have Mr. Gordo but..."
"Anything…Goldilocks," he said.
Sighing she scooted over resting her head on his chest.
"Night luv."
"Night," she said as she drifted off to a dreamless sleep.
"Hey I haven’t seen you in a while Buff. Where were ya?" Willow asked.
"Around. I’ve been really busy. I-I wish I could have been with you guys...what’s up?"
.
"Oh nothing, Angel and Cordelia are having problems. Apparently she was talking with another guy on the side."
"She’s cheating!" Buffy asked surprised. “Cordelia was faithful she couldn’t and wouldn’t do that to Angel.”'
"No, but you know with the flirting and the looks it would’ve looked that way."
After the girls walked into Starbucks they quickly found a table and sat down.
"Anyway, he is kinda angry with her and they are working through it but nothing big."
"How’ve you been?" Buffy asked as she fished for some money to get her mocha.
"Fine as fine goes…you?"
"Alright I guess."
"Have you seen Spike lately?"
"Huh...oh yeah why?"
"Well he seems to come and go a lot and without you. Without Spike around, Tristen said it leaves the circle incomplete or something like that."
"I’m going to order, want something?"
"Mmm...A muffin is fine."
"Sure thing."
While she was ordering Spike and Tristen walked in pulling up seats beside them.
"Here you go," Buffy said taking a seat and smiling at Tristen and Spike.
"Hey look its the Buffster," Tristen said taking some of her mocha.
"Where ya been?"
"Around...real busy." she said looking down at her hands.
"Well you missed a heated discussion with Angel and Cordy," Tristen said chuckling.
"Yeah it was funny she was all 'I can’t believe you would think I would use my beauty to get someone else' and he was like 'well that’s all you have going for you'. It was sad but entertaining cause Cordy didn’t even get the sarcasm, she was totally clueless.
"That’s our Cordy," Spike muttered.
"What are you guys doing later?"
"I have a family dinner. My mom came home this morning and she wants to celebrate her raise," Buffy said.
"I’m actually going to L.A. My older sis Drusilla just signed with a record company."
"You have a sister?" Willow asked.
"Yeah she’s twenty four and has a music group called walking thin"
"That’s so cool."
"Well I’m off, Da’s got this thing with being home early so we can pack," Spike said looking out the glass double doors. The sun had already set.
"Well we’re going to a movie," Willow said. "You can come or do you want me to walk you home?"
"No need. Go ahead I’ll walk her home."
"Alright I’ll call you later Buff," Willow called to her retreating back.
