Chapter 9
: Daddy

``````````````````````````
Spike couldn’t believe what he just heard. She just called him daddy.
Closing his eyes Spike hugged the two year old and stroked her back soothingly.
He tried to pull back but Lina just held tighter. He tried it two more times before giving up and getting to his feet, carrying the child with him easily.
He sat on the chair she just vacated and started murmuring soothing words.
“Lina, button can you tell me what happened?” Spike asked.
Lina hiccupped something but it was muffled.
“What was that?” Spike asked.
Lina leaned back and wiped her eyes.
“D-d-d-da b-bad man t-taked C-c-chris,” she stuttered.
Spike got a thoughtful look on his face.
This blue eyed angel was his, she was adorable her curly hair was a mess and she still wore her pajamas.
Perfect angel.
“Did you see anything?” Spike asked.
Lina hiccupped, and nodded.
Flash Back
Lina poked her head out of the closet.
She had to find her sister; she carefully got out and tiptoed to the living room, her blue eyes wide.
There were two men-. She couldn’t see their faces since they had on masks. They were shredding the living room.
One of them looked up and spotted her. He came towards her and she ran.
She ran to her room and closed the door before locking it.
The two year old went to her favorite hiding place, the top shelf in the closet.
Just as she got to the top, the door broke open and the man she had seen before came in. She stayed quiet, silent sobs racking her tiny body.
Where was Elijah?
The man tore her and her sister’s room apart.
Once he was gone, she stayed put for ten more minutes before climbing down and going to the closet.
She slid down the wall and clutched her legs to her chest resting her head on her knees.
She wanted her mommy.
End Flashback
After Spike thought about what Lina said and he was able to understand it, he came to this conclusion.
It wasn’t going to help.
Shaking his head Spike looked at Lina, his cocked his head to the side.
“What makes you think I’m your dad?” he asked quietly.
Lina shrugged and started picking at his shirt.
“Mommy has pitos evy day she tell us dat you wuv us,” she said quietly.
Spike smiled at the way she spoke. It was so cute.
“She not lying,” Spike whispered, making his newly found daughter smile.
“Why was you way daddy?” she asked curiously.
Spike thought a moment. Maybe because I didn’t know you were alive?
“It doesn’t matter. I’m here now with you, I’ll find your sister,” he promised.
`````````````````````````````````````

Buffy looked up when Spike came out. He whispered something to Lorne and the man nodded then left.

Spike then turned to Buffy and Elijah.

“Angel and the gang are coming,” Spike said.

Buffy cringed; they were going to hate her.

“I figured.” she stated after a beat. ”Did she tell you anything?” Buffy asked.

Spike shook his head.

“She doesn’t know anything.”

Lina wiped her eyes again and yawned. Spike looked at his watch it was 3 o’clock in the morning.

“I guess she’s tired,” Spike said.

Buffy nodded and moved to take Lina from Spike who was holding her tiny hand, her head resting on his hip and one arm around his leg.

Lina shied away from her mother, her eyes got watery again and she sniffed.

“No wanna go. Stay daddy,” the child whispered.

Buffy looked at Spike with wide eyes, he only shrugged a grin trying to break across his face.

“Elijah already got the rooms sweetie,” Buffy said again trying to take her.

She pouted before starting to cry.

“No! Stay daddy! Find Chris stay Daddy!” she cried before burying her face in his leg and weeping.

Spike didn’t think twice before sweeping her off her feet and hugging her to him.

Buffy’s heart was breaking as she watched her daughter and Spike.

She kept them from him, it wasn’t fair to him.

“You guys can stay with me,” Spike spoke up. Buffy shook her head.

“No, it’s fine Spike. We already have rooms,” Buffy argued.

Spike gave her a pleading look.

“Please,” he whispered, his eyes locked with hers and Buffy gave in.

She couldn’t keep him away from her after today; they could start bonding in the morning.

“Alright,” she sighed.

Spike saw the look she gave Elijah and sighed.

“You can stay to,” Spike offered.

Elijah shook his head sensing a major family moment.

“It’s fine, I’ll stay at the hotel. I’ll see you in the morning,” He said smiling at Buffy he shook Spike’s hand and kissed Lina on her forehead before leaving.

The car ride to Spike’s house was awkward, simply for the fact that Buffy had been hiding for three years didn’t tell Spike he had twin daughters and he didn’t want to get upset by trying to be civil when all he wanted to do was yell at her for doing this to him.

Buffy looked up at the house that Spike parked in front of.

It was a one story house with a huge front yard, a few plants and a freshly cut lawn. A black spiked metal gate surrounded the house.

It was homey.

Spike got out of the car and helped Lina out as well.

He opened the gate and waited for Lina and Buffy to pass before closing it.

The house inside was nice. A huge living room was immediately seen as soon as you stepped into the house, a bar separated it from the kitchen.

There was a hall to her left, which she supposed led to rooms.

Spike led them down the hall and opened the first door.

“You can use this room,” he told Buffy. The walls were gray. A huge bed stood against the far wall next to a set of double doors that led outside.

Two dressers were against the left wall and a door to the right.

“The bathroom is across the hall,” he said softly.

Buffy nodded.

“Thanks,” she whispered watching as his gaze shifted to Lina.

“There is another room, if you want to sleep alone,”

Buffy shook her head.

“No, it’s fine. This is fine,” she said.

Spike nodded.

“I know it’s late or early depending on how you look at it but I’m starved. Are you hungry?” he asked.

Buffy sighed.

“I don’t think I can eat, but Lina should probably eat something.” she stated.

Spike nodded and left the room.

Buffy turned back to the bed. It looked so inviting. She walked over and sat down sighing in contentment. It was so soft.

“Lina baby,” Buffy called when she didn’t see her daughter.

She frowned and got up slowly leaving the room.

She heard the sound of pots and pans being shifted and went to the living room.

Lina was sitting on the bar watching Spike intently as he went about getting ingredients for what looked like Macaroni and Cheese.

She stayed out of sight and listened as Spike started talking to her.

Spike put water in a pan and turned on the stove before turning to Lina.

“So kid, I hope you like Mac’n Cheese.” Spike said with a small smile.

Lina nodded and moved her long hair out of her face.

Spike smiled and went over to her.

“Let’s see if we can fix your hair; I don’t think it tastes that good.” Spike joked. Lina only nodded.

Sighing Spike braided her hair.

“So poppet what do you like to do?” Spike asked once he was done.

Lina shrugged.

“Play.” she said softly.

Spike nodded.

“Yeah I suppose playing is good,” he said taking out the macaroni noodles.

“Eli and Chris play wit me. Play lawer like mommy,” she said quietly.

Spike smiled.

“You play lawyer do you?” he asked, she nodded.

“Chris gone. You get her back?” Lina asked with hopeful eyes.

Spike’s smile was strained as he turned to face her.

“I’ll try princess, I’ll try.

Chapter 10
: Monsters Make Me Feel Bad

````````````````````````````````````
Spike frowned in his semi sleep state when he felt his bed shift.
A few minutes afterwards he felt weight press against his side and small hands run over his face.
He opened his eyes and came face to face with the tear filled blue ones of his daughter.
They had been at his house for two days and in that span of time he and Lina were inseparable. They were getting nowhere with finding Chris and Buffy was afraid to tell his boss, so Lone, Graham, and Oz were helping him out.
When Willow got there, which would be today he was going to have her check their security system.
“What is it?” Spike whispered sleepily, Lina hiccupped before breaking into sobs.
“Make go way,” she sobbed her head buried in his stomach.
Spike frowned and sat up pulling her with him.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
Lina hiccupped.
“Monters,” she whispered brokenly.
“Monsters?” Spike asked, Lina nodded.
“Monters make me feel bad,” she whispered hiccupping again.
Spike smiled.
“Well then why don’t you lay here with daddy, I’ll chase them all away,” he promised.
Lina nodded and got under the covers burying her head in the nape of his neck.
Spike smiled he was asleep in no time.
Chapter 11
: Other Family?
Buffy wrung her hands as she paced her room, Tristen and Willow just pulled into the drive and she was scared.
Spike was in the kitchen and Lina was with him.
They were going to tell them about the twins together.
Oh god.
Buffy tried to calm her self when she heard the front door open.
She could do this.
She shook her head before sitting on the bed.
“I can’t do this”
````````````````````````````````

Lina sat at the table in the kitchen munching on a cookie, she had two. One for her and one for Chris, since Chris wasn’t there she was eating it for her.

Spike looked up when the front door opened and Willow stepped in.

Her red hair was darker now and French braided in two pony tails, she had on a baby blue skirt white k-swisses and a white tank top.

Tristen had on a blue shirt and black pants, sunglasses hiding his gray eyes and black lugs on his feet.

They still looked like the carefree teenagers they use to be.

“Hey,” Spike said softly.

Willow swallowed.

“Is she here?” Willow asked nervously

Spike smirked.

“No Hello luv, that hurts,” he teased putting a hand over his heart.

Willow rolled her eyes before giving him a hug and pinching his cheek.

“Hello there you great hunk of man. Now, where’s Buffy?” she asked.

“Right here.” Buffy answered for Spike coming to stand in their line of sight.

Willow bit her lip and hesitantly stepped forward.

Buffy smiled and met her friend half way, they stared at each other a moment before breaking into tears and hugging each other fiercely.

“I missed you so much,” Willow whispered, Buffy nodded.

“Me too,” she answered, finally after what seemed like forever they pulled back and Buffy smiled at the red head before taking her hand which held her engagement ring.

Buffy’s eyes widened.

“Damn girl I’m surprised you can hold your hand up,” Buffy teased taking in the sight of her diamond.

Willow giggled.

“It’s not the size that matters,” she stated, Buffy nodded.

“I’ve missed you so much,” she stated, Willow nodded.

“But you’re here now and we can-oh we can have a movie night like old times. Why are you here by the way? N-no that I’m not glad to see you it’s just-well you were gone three years Buff, why the change?” Willow babbled.

Buffy took a deep breath.

“You might want to sit down,” Spike advised, Willow frowned.

“Why? Is it bad?” she asked nervously looking from them to Tristen.

Her fiancé gave her a reassuring smile.

“I’m sure it’s nothing bad,” he told her.

Buffy swallowed when they all pinned her with their gaze.

“Define bad.”

Willow started to shake her head, when Lina stepped out of the kitchen. She had on one of Spike’s shirt that was way too big for her and chocolate all over her face.

“Mommy, tan I have tootie?” the small child asked.

Willow gaped at her then at Buffy.

“Well then, Lina meet Willow and Tristen.”

````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Spike watched as Willow cracked the passwords for Vinny’s security. It had taken a little over two hours to explain everything, and then another hour to get Willow to calm down.
Now she was trying to figure out if the Italian mob took Chris and how they could get her back.
“I’m in,” Willow said not taking her eyes off the screen, Spike, Buffy and Tristen crowded around the screen.
“I haven’t found anything yet but it did look like they were planning something. If you look back a couple of days then you’ll be able to tell. See,” Willow pointed to the screen after somehow rewinding the security film.
“That board there it’s some kind of lay out.” Spike whispered, Willow nodded.
“That’s exactly what it is, but it’s not enough.” She zoomed in and then pointed to the board again “See that, it’s just a bunch maps to houses. It’s nothing that can tell us if they have Chris,” Willow said.
Spike sighed frustrated.
“I think we should go back and check the house, maybe they left something,” Spike said.
Tristen nodded.
“That’s not a bad idea. Maybe you can take that guy that lives with you. We can all search the house for clues”
Willow nodded.
“Oh-oh, you can get Faith to help too.”
“Who’s Faith?” Buffy asked, she really didn’t think bringing in more cops was a good idea.
“She’s not a cop don’t worry,” Spike assured her.“ Her dad’s a mobster, they call him Mayor,” Spike continued.
Buffy raised an eyebrow.
“You want me-” she pointed to herself an incredulous look on her face “To trust a mobster when a mobster was the one who took my daughter?” she asked.
Spike nodded.
“Our,” he said stressing out the word “Daughter, and yes I do. Faith is a good friend she helps out the police once in a while. She has connections with mobs, she can help find out who has Chris,” Spike said.
Buffy was shaking her head.
“Are you crazy?!” she asked.
“No he’s not, she saved Tristen,” Willow cut in.
Buffy frowned.
“Saved him from what?” she turned to Tristen “Saved you from what?”
“When we came to visit, he was caught in -I guess you can say, he was caught in the crossfire in the Spanish Mob’s dealing. Faith and her dad were there and managed to save him from any limb tarring there might have been,” Willow answered.
Buffy sighed.
“Alright, you can call her. But this can’t get out.”
`````````````````````````````````````````

Chris sniffed and looked around the dark room she was in.

There were two men in the corner that she had never seen before talking quietly to each other, every once in a while they would point in her direction.

She was hungry and cold and she had to pee.

Sniffing back tears Chris drew her legs up to her chest and put her head on her knees.

She wanted her mommy.

“What do you mean you brought the wrong kid?!” Paul snapped, his accomplices flinched at his tone.

“We didn’t mean to. There was two of them, I think that guy the dad called the other one Lina. The girl said her name was Crystalina,” one guy by the name of David answered.

Paul rubbed his forehead.

“You know what it doesn’t matter. Get back to the house, place cameras where they can’t find them, and leave this,” he handed them a box.

“Wear gloves and make sure no one sees you. Mess this up and I’ll mess you up, now go.”

````````````````````````````````````````````
Faith hung up the phone and turned to look at her father.
“Who was that?” her father asked with a smile.
At first glance you would never figure him to be a mobster considering he never ever carried a weapon.
Well, he didn’t carry one since he had Faith she was the biggest bad ass around.
“Spike,” Faith answered taking a seat on the desk.
“Vinny’s crew took his kid,” Faith stated, Mayor raised an eyebrow.
“He has a child?” he asked.
Faith nodded and unwrapped a lollipop.
“Apparently, he has two. Twins, one of them was taken from his high school sweetheart when she was at home. He wants us to see if I can find out anything,” Faith said sucking on her sweet candy.
Mayor nodded.
“I like Spike, he doesn’t seem afraid to die. You can help him out on this one. Spread the word, anyone who knows where this kid is gets spared.”
Faith nodded and got up, she went over to the weapons case and opened it.
Smiling she pulled out twin daggers and put them in the holsters on the inside of her thigh under her skirt, then she chose her two favorite guns, desert eagles and put them in the straps on her back, lastly she picked up a tiny ball about one inch big and stuck it in her pocket before getting her coat.
Turning she blew her father a kiss.
“Don’t wait up,” she said with a smile before leaving.
Mayor sighed.
“I love that girl.”
Chapter 12
: Findings
It was decided that Spike, Willow, Buffy, Tristen, and Elijah would go back to her house and look for anything that the kidnappers could have left behind as soon as Angel and Cordelia showed up.
Lina was asleep on the couch dressed in a skirt with pleats and a black long sleeved shirt from Cordelia’s line of clothes.
Willow was still pouring over the computer and Buffy was with her. Tristen was on the phone with Faith listening to what she had to say.
Spike turned to him when he hung up the phone.
“What did she say?” he asked.
Tristen sighed.
“She said she can’t find anything but she sent out word that were looking for her and she’d call if she got something”
Spike sighed and ran a hand through his platinum blond hair.
He looked at the clock, Cordelia and Angel would be there in two hours and they would be able to leave.
He needed to find Chris, he’d be damned before he let something happen to his daughter when he just found her.
````````````````````````````````````````````````````

Cordelia jumped out the car before it was even at a complete stop. The door was opened before she reached it and she barely spared Spike a smile before she pulled Buffy who was standing in the living room into a bone crushing hug.

She pulled back and pinched the tiny brunette with a scowl.

Buffy cringed and rubbed the sore spot.

“What was that for?” she said hurt.

Cordelia narrowed her eyes.

“For leaving and not coming back and then coming back out of the blue and not buying any of my merchandise” She answered.

Buffy grinned.

“I do buy your merchandise. Lina and Chris have most of your back to school clothes, pajamas, and just last moth I bought them that out fit with the suspenders” Buffy answered.

Cordelia frowned.

“Who is Lina and Chris?” she asked.

Buffy bit her lip.

“You might want to sit down” she stated.

```````````````````````````````````````````````````
Angel rolled his eyes at Cordelia when she told Lina about the time he got stuck in the bathroom.
It had been four hours ago that they didn’t even know Buffy and Spike had kids. Not one but TWO.
“Cordelia.” Angel said irritated” I’m sure she doesn’t want to hear anymore, look at her face she looks ready to drop” Angel stated.
Cordelia frowned and looked at the blue eyed little girl, she did look kind of tired. She was on Spike’s lap her head turned to face Cordelia, her eyes dropped sleepily every once and a while just for her to jerk back awake.
“I suppose. When is this Elijah guy coming?” She asked getting up.
Buffy had called Elijah an hour ago and he still wasn’t here.
“He’s on his way. He was talking to our boss explaining why we haven’t been at work. Well a lie anyway” Buffy answered.
Willow turned off her computer finally tired and rubbed her face.
“I can’t find anything. What about the case?” she asked.
Buffy sighed and thought.
“It was postponed, Elijah said that they are going to carry on with it in the next month.” she answered.
Tristen sighed.
“What if you win the case?” he asked.
Buffy shivered.
“They’ll kill her”
````````````````````````````````````````````

Elijah knocked on Spike’s front door. His boss said they were to be back at work in the next day or they would be fired.

He sighed when the door finally opened and he came face to face with a red head.

A beautiful one.

“Hi, I’m Elijah” he said holding out his hand.

Willow nodded and took it.

“H-hi, I’m Willow. You should come in” she said still standing in his way, shaking her head she moved “Come in” she said waving him in.

Elijah smiled at her before going inside, he seen the platinum blond head and knew it was Spike, next to him Buffy was sitting on the couch with a brunette and another man who he knew was Angel. Across from them was who he thought was Tristen, Lina was a sleep her head on Spikes lap.

“Good you’re here” Buffy sighed in relief.

“What did he say?” she asked nervously.

Elijah shrugged.

“Get down there by tomorrow or we are fired” he answered.

Buffy made a face.

“We should go then” Spike said.

Elijah frowned

“Where are you going?” he asked.

Spike carefully got up.

“To find our daughter”

Chapter 13
: Presents!?

The place was trashed. Probably over 2,000 dollars in damages.

Sighing Buffy righted a table only to have one of the legs fall off before the whole thing came crashing to the ground.

Angrily she kicked it before cursing and hoping on one foot holding her injured foot.

Spike raised an eyebrow at her and chuckled before shaking his head and walking further into the house, Lina holding his hand tightly.

Willow went straight to the girls room, Angel went out back with Tristen, Cordelia went to Buffy’s room, Elijah to his while Buffy and Spike searched the living room.

````````````
Willow checked every inch of the bedroom, putting some of Lina’s clothes in a back pack she found as she went along, most of the clothes she noticed were from Cordelia’s line.
Sighing she went back into the living room where Buffy and Spike were leaning against the wall.
Angel had come in an hour before claiming he found nothing, Elijah hadn’t found anything either.
She opened her mouth to say something but was cut off when Cordelia came running into the living room a box clutched in her hands.
“Look! A present” She exclaimed, Willow couldn’t help herself she giggled then laughed.
Buffy narrowed her eyes.
“Where was that?” she asked.
Cordelia shrugged and handed it to the brunette.
“It was on your bed with this” she pulled out an envelope.
They all crowded around Buffy as she opened the envelope with shaky hands.
It was a single paper with something attached to it.
She read the letter quickly and Willow could see the tears in her eyes before she handed it to Spike and opened the box.
He looked at it before clearing his throat.
“Dear Summers,
I know you probably went to get help. It would be stupid of you not to. Just know that the people who are now in your living room are now part of the game. Yes, the game. Here are the rules:
1)You will go about your business as usual.
2) Don’t contact anyone else or else your kid will get it.
3)You better not leave the city anymore, now that you’re there you are to stay. Same goes for your band of buddies.
4)I’ll give you instructions to do when the time comes IF it comes, if you don’t follow these instructions you WILL regret it.
5)Vinnys better not get convicted, if he goes free, your daughter will go free.
These rules are very simple. Every week depending on you, you’ll get an update on your kid. Have a nice day. Signed Me
P.S, remember if you mess up your kid will get the consequences. She really is a sweet thing.” Spike swallowed and unclipped the picture that was with the letter.
It was of Chris, she was sleeping on a bed with blue covers, her thumb in her mouth.
On the back it read: Her life is in your hands.
Spike turned to Buffy, she was staring into nothingness, the box on the floor by her feet.
Frowning Spike picked it up, inside was smaller box like a jewelry box for a necklace.
He opened it and inside was hair.
He looked at Buffy, wordlessly she handed him another picture.
Again this one was of Chris, she was standing against a white wall wearing overalls. Her curly hair was cut to her shoulders, Spike threw the box across the room, this was suppose to be another reminder that they had her.
“We better get this cleaned up” Elijah said quietly.
Wordlessly they got to work, Lina sitting on the torn couch watching them with scared eyes.
Chapter 14
: The Phone Call
They managed to clean the house by four in the morning, pretty much everything was broken including the windows.
Tristen and Angel were going to leave in the morning to get some stuff to fix in new windows.
Buffy and Elijah had no choice BUT to go back to work, Willow and Cordelia were going to see if they could find anything else out from the security system and Spike was going to run the box and picture for finger prints.
They all went about doing what they were assigned as soon as they got dressed.
Buffy looked like a wreck as she got ready to go to work.
It took almost half an hour to get her to leave Lina with Spike and when she finally agreed she tearfully left and she was late.
As soon as Buffy and Elijah left Lina attached herself to Spike only occasionally going with Willow or Cordelia because she didn’t want to be alone.
Spike sighed as he put his stuff away, whoever was doing this was good.
He needed to call in to work soon, maybe he would able to bring in a few more computers where they would be able to see the surveillance on Vinny’s family.
He wondered if Faith was finding anything.
“Hey guys” Faith said brightly as she entered Bloodless an underground club that was run by her uncle’s mob.
“Faith” Trick- one of her most deadly enemies- greeted.
Faith sneered at him before making her way to the bar and sitting on a stool.
No one dared mess with her- she could shoot them without blinking and would.
“I need info Willy( he was part of the Greek mob)” Faith stated to the bartender.
He wasn’t a strong man but he knew everything that went on around town and then some.
“What can I do for you Faith?” Willy asked loudly.
Faith didn’t even turn around as she brought out her desert eagle and shot someone to her left.
The man clutched at his wounded and bleeding knee, his gun slid across the floor and Faith picked it up.
“That wasn’t nice Willy, daddy will be angry when he hears how you treat me” Faith said in mock hurt.
Willy swallowed nervously.
“I need to know if you’ve seen this kid” Faith stated sliding him a picture of Chris, Spike had Willow scan it to her computer just that morning.
Willy took the picture.
“No, can’t say I have” he said with a sigh. “Sorry I couldn’t help” he said picking up a beer bottle.
Faith’s hand shot out and caught Willy’s throat she slammed him down on the counter snapping her fingers when about ten of Willy’s relatives got up with guns out.
About twice as many of Faith’s people got up holding shot guns-how they hid those she did not know- hand guns and some with wicked looking daggers.
“Shoot and they’ll kill you” Faith said over her shoulder.
“I’m being patient Willy, that kid is my friend’s child so either tell me or you’re out” she pointed the gun at his heart.
“I can make you scream Willy” she whispered
Willy’s arm moved.
“Alright I’ll tell you”
Willow jumped when her phone rang.
She turned away from the computer and picked it up.
“Hello?” Her eyes found Spike who was reading Lina a story, he stopped watching her.
“Hi Faith” Willow said getting up.
Spike tensed.
“Hey Red” Faith greeted as she leaned against Willy’s desk, he was tied to a chair looking at her body guards nervously.
“Willy said he had some guys come in about a day ago talking about how their cousin’s, cousin’s or something had a kid. They were saying that she was the daughter of some double cross lawyer.”
Willow leaned against the table.
“Does he know what he looks like?” she asked.
Faith shot a look at Willy.
“He said he doesn’t, but I think he does and he just won’t tell me. I’m working on it, anyway. Have Spike look for some guy that goes by Snake, he has a record. He’s in county jail I don’t know which one. I want you to go see him because he doesn’t like men for some reason, anyway tell him Faith sent you.” Faith sat down. “Ask him about Vinny’s crew, I think they have some family that isn’t covered” she said.
Willow nodded as she wrote down the things Faith was saying.
“Snake? Ok, ask him about Vinny’s...second cousin twice removed...Will this help us?”
“Yeah, I have a feeling it was him who came down here, he has a tendency to mouth off to who ever listens but he is good at hiding, even though Snake is in prison he can help you out and you can trust him”
Willow nodded and wrote down that information.
“Alright Faith, thanks” Willow said before ending the call
She turned to Spike.
“We’ve got something”
