Rating: PG-13/R
READ BEFORE THE STORY: I have not seen any of season six. This is my version gone short of what happened after the Gift. Buffy dies but is brought back to life three months later. (I know-season six stuff, but mine is different) She looks to Spike to help for the dead thing and he helps her and they become friends, then lovers. Spike has been like a brother and father to Dawn, a sister to Willow, who is without Tara. Tara left after the dealings with Glory. I wasn’t able to see the middle of the season five finale, but I did see that Buffy dies, when Spike is thrown off the tower when unable to stop Doc from cutting Dawn. Glory is dead and so is Ben. Here is the whacky part: Faith is out of jail. (I know-major freaky. She doesn’t immediately come into the picture-put you’ll see!) She was released on good behavior (or so they say-it’s not bad I promise) and Buffy forgave her. When our story takes place, Faith is about to come to Sunnydale in a week. That’s about all you need to know. If not-email me.
Buffy wiped the dust off of her new coat that Spike had gotten her and sighed. She picked up her stake and decided that is was too early to leave patrol but things were really dead around there, no pun intended.
“Just another day on the Hellmouth.”
She was really getting tired of running into vamps that were all talk and no actions. Lately, the vamp population seemed to be running a bit low. But she didn’t really care. That just meant more time with her friends and family and a certain blonde vampire. Buffy walked back to her house on Revello Drive and was very hungry. VERY hungry.
“It’s only 11:00! Why does everything around me seem dead?” Buffy shouted. She currently had her nose in the fridge looking for some choclately goodness and was quite startled when she heard the voice from behind boom.
“After all these years, Slayer, I thought you would have realized that you are constantly surrounded by dead things. I seem to remember you being extremely happy a few hours ago in your bed because of a dead thing.”
“Spike! You scared the living daylights out of me!” Buffy was crimson red from Spike reminding her of their love-making session before patrol.
Spike just laughed and snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her into a bear hug. “I imagine that is a good thing because one-I can’t stand the daytime and two-I guess you’re not living anymore since I scared your humanity out of you.”
Buffy rolled her eyes and tried to wrench out of Spike’s grasp to continue her search for sugar need when the phone rang. She reached for the phone and answered it.
“Hello.”
“Buffy? Thank God! We have a major problem over here. You need to come quick!”
“Willow? Calm down sweetie! What’s going on?” Buffy started to get that worried look on her face and Spike instantly noticed. What was worse is that she said Willow’s name before she became worried. Spike really liked Willow and started to gather different things that they might need in fighting whatever evil had come in Sunnyhell.
“Buffy, there are vampires everywhere. I am at the dorm and they are everywhere-just terrorizing everything!” Willow began to sob despite herself. She was so scared.
“ Willow, they can’t get into the rooms can they? I mean they have to be invited!” Buffy noticed Spike get everything ready and was thankful he was around. From what Willow said, she could need all the help they could get.
“That’s the scary part. Instead of going to the humans they are getting the humans to come to them. They are throwing torches and gas bombs in the dorms so the humans have to come running out. They are about to get to me so hurry Buffy!” Willow hung up and worked on a weather retraction spell so the fire couldn’t get into the dorm but for the bombs, she didn’t know what to do. She prayed to the Gods that Buffy would get there soon. Unbeknownst to Willow, a form was watching everything. The figure smiled and evil smile and said, “That’s right. Come on Slayer. Let’s see what you are capable of.”
“Spike! We have to go now!” Buffy was screaming and finally got to Spike so she could tell him what happened. They were driving in Spike’s new car he had bought. It was a black Firebird and was speeding along quite nicely.
“Spike what are we going to do? I had no idea the vamps around here were so smart. They are usually dumb as Xander.” Buffy was about to start crying and Spike hated it when she cried.
“Luv, it will be alright. And I’d say that there was a new big bad in town to be that smart. As for them being as dumb as Xander, I say it was about time you let out your true feelings for Him!” Spike started laughing and that got Buffy thinking straight. She smiled. He always knew when to do that.
About two minutes later they pulled up to find the dorms invaded and burning like mad. The form that was inside Willow’s room earlier was watching the Slayer intently. It followed Buffy as she went to find Willow. Buffy immediately went to Willow’s room and found her on the bed unconscious and covered in ashes. She heard a noise behind her and saw a vamp look into the room but move on like he saw nothing. Buffy was confused. Spike quickly entered after Buffy and started taking out different vampires in rage. He noticed that they never fought back. Finally he walked up to one and starting pummeling him. The vamp didn’t put up a fight. He decided to find Buffy and make sure she and Willow were safe. He found them in Willow’s room and he went to find Buffy staring out to space in confusion. He quickly picked up Willow in his arms and yelled for Buffy to watch his back. Buffy came back to earth and was amazed yet again when the vampires did nothings but watch. Spike took Willow and put her in the back of the car and drove to the Magic Box. The dorm was a total loss.
“Well, well, well. Poor William. You always were the weak one. What will I do with you?” The form thought to himself. It was time to leave. The figure watched the Slayer, the vampire, and the witch leave in the car. It chuckled and disappeared.
“Giles, it was weird. They didn’t even try to hurt me, They didn’t even see me. And I..I didn’t even do a spell!” Willow was rambling on about her encounter with the vampires that didn’t encounter her much. Willow had woken up in Spike’s arms when she was being carried into the Magic Box and felt safe, but tried to stay awake. She went to sleep and woke up about an hour later. Everyone was nervous and wanted their questions to be answered.
“Spike and I didn’t even notice anything different. I mean, they didn’t even try to fight when we came up to them. They just stood there-no fighting.” Buffy was pacing and was getting very ticked.
“Slayer, relax. The only reason I can figure that they didn’t fight is that their Master instructed them to. The Master only does things like that for two reasons. One-The Slayer doesn’t get scarred from a fight. Or two-to distract the Slayer from his plot. She would be to distracted and confused to realize what happened.” Spike smiled boastfully as everyone looked in awe at him.
“Well, whatever the reason may be, I, uh, think that Buffy should be extra careful at patrol tomorrow.” Giles knew instantly that at the words “patrol” and “tomorrow” that he was in for a battle that he wasn’t going to win. Buffy shot him a look that said, “You asked for it!”
“Oh no! I am taking a break tomorrow by going to the Bronze. Spike is taking patrol for me and I don’t want any arguing from you!” Buffy instantly puffed up and left the Watcher’s house.
“You got her good there!” Spike said and ran after her. She shouldn’t be out there all alone.
Buffy was wandering around and tried to sort things out in her life when she felt like she was being watched. She turned around to find a woman standing and smiling looking into her with her piercing ice blue eyes. She had blonde hair down right above her elbow. She had on jeans and a black shirt. Her arms were crossed and she cocked her head to the side and gazed at her longingly. She smiled and then tensed up. She instantly became worried and looked at Buffy. She had an evil gaze on her and instantly disappeared. Just then Spike ran up to her just as Buffy passed out. He cradled her in his arms and took her to her house.
Buffy woke up about one in the afternoon. Spike was beside her looking at her worriedly.
“I’m fine.” Buffy knew exactly what he was going at.
“Oh really, is that why you passed out? You whimpered the whole way here in my arms and was muttering about three days of judgement and started crying. You didn’t sleep at all because you were screaming. You finally cried yourself to sleep. Oh yeah, you are JUST fine!” Spike was yelling in rage at her while she just looked at him with a curious expression.
“I did all that? I feel fine. I remember laying down in the cemetery because I felt safe all of a sudden. I felt like you were there the whole time. It was weird.” Buffy was really confused now.
“Let’s just get you ready for tonight.” He didn’t want Buffy to be tensed up for her day off of the job. <Yeah, some job.>
Once Buffy was ready, Willow and Xander came and picked her up. When Buffy made sure for the thousandth time that Spike would be fine for patrol, she left. To say she had fun would be an understatement. She had so much fun. After a couple of dances, Buffy went to the bar to get a drink. Once she did, she turned in her seat to look for Xander. What she found was horribly familiar. Across the dance floor, the woman who had appeared yesterday was smoking a cigarette and staring at her with an evil grin on her face. She had on a black halter top with diamonds all over it. The black jeans along with the shirt made her pale skin and blonde hair eerily bright. When she was noticed the girl looked at Buffy and smirked. Her ice blue eyes sent shudders down Buffy’s spine. Then a man walked in front of her and she was gone. Buffy blinked a couple of times and shrugged it off. She spotted Xander and Willow at a nearby table and went to talk with them.
Spike had a silent patrol. Nothing ordinary happened. Then he felt a presence he hadn’t felt in a long time, a LONG TIME. He turned around to find a woman in black standing looking at him. <Oh, not now!>
“What the hell are you doing here? You have no business here!” Spike was fuming. Why was she here now?
“Now, now Spike. I don’t intend to hurt you. Hell, I can’t even think about hurting you. All I am saying is that your involvement with the Slayer is going to be a problem. They moved the requirements for ‘Slayer’s Judgement’ age up to 21. I am very happy as you can tell. But you cannot interfere. I am surprised at you William. You were so happy when a judgement would come up. Though I have never been able to complete one. They are all weak. Your Slayer is different. Even Glory couldn’t stop her. Of course Glory was never loyal to me. The little bitch.” The young woman smiled up at Spike who was seething.
“Why, Shay?”
“Remember it is coming in two days. You cannot interfere!” The woman disappeared again.
<Why now?> Spike figured he better get back to Buffy and help her train. She would need it if what Shay had told was true.
The next day, Buffy and Spike were out on patrol. It was relatively quiet day when a dozen vamps jumped out at them. Spike instantly knew who was behind this. <Shay> His thoughts were interrupted by a jolt of pain to his lip as he had a swift upper cut jarred at him. He looked at Buffy. She had dusted six of the dozen vampires. Oh wait, make that seven. Spike quickly dusted four which left one to the hands of Buffy.
“My Mistress is mightily pleased by your fighting. Your Judgement comes tomorrow. Be prepared.”
He was dusted instantly be neither Buffy or Spike. They both stared at the woman behind the dust. She was smiling. <Big change> thought Buffy. The woman hopped on a jet black motorcycle and sped off.
“Spike, I’m worried. That is the third time I have seen that woman.” Buffy was worried when she didn’t hear a reply she turned around to find Spike in a daze. He was muttering something to himself and sighed. Buffy hit him in the shoulder to wake him up.
“We need to train. Get your things. Meet me in the Magic Box in 10 minutes.” Spike walked of without giving a reply and was at the Magic Box like he said. He was met with worried eyes from the Scoobies.
“Slayer, let’s go.”
“Spike, what is going on? Who was that woman?” Buffy was very worried.
“It’s coming for you. The Slayer Judgement. We need to train. Let’s go.”
“Good Lord!” Giles was instantly in a tillie. “It isn’t supposed to happen for..”
“Another four years I know!” Spike interrupted and pulled Buffy into the training room.
“Spike if you don’t tell me what is going on!” It was Buffy’s turn to be seething.
“The Slayer’s Judgement is coming for you. You have three days to stay alive. We need to get you ready.” Spike handed her a sword and started to approach her with his.
“Who is judging me?” She asked as she ducked the blow and tried to land with one of her own. It was easily blocked.
“I can’t tell you. You can’t know your opponent.” He landed another blow and blocked two of hers.
“But she can know me? Is that why she has been stalking me for the last three days?” Buffy finally stopped the fighting and sat down, completely exaughsted.
“That woman is going to try to kill you for the next three days. You need to be on your toes. She is called the Meranor.” Spike was out of breath, but he doesn’t need breath so he was just heaving for no reason.
“And how would you know so much about a Meranor?” Buffy needed water and went to get some. Everyone had been watching the show with surprise.
“I used to be one.” Spike looked up at her with sorrow in his eyes.
“That’s why you killed those two Slayers!” Anya was squealing with delight.
“Thanks for stating the obvious!” Willow spat. <Wow, I didn’t know that!>
“Look it’s almost sunrise. I have to go. Come to the crypt before sunrise. I’ll tell you as much as I can.” Spike hurried out of the store so he can get some sleep and prepare how much he could tell Buffy without getting Shay angry at him. <I am in way over my head>
Buffy just stood there trying to process all the information. She finally decided to go home a rest. She didn’t take this stuff seriously. She had killed Glory, how hard could this be?
“I am going home. I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Giles, I am going to do what Spike says, just, oh I don’t know, research this judgement thing for me okay?” Buffy was still tired from the fight and started to leave.
“I don’t need to research. I already know about it.” Giles had a very sharp tone in his voice.
“What?” Buffy was too tired to do this!
“The Slayer’s Judgement is supposed to come to her at the age of 25. It seems the Powers That Be want to move it up. They occasionally do that. Never has a Slayer reached the age of 19. So they adjust it accordingly. This is very serious. No one has made it through this alive.” Giles said it all in a hushed whisper. Everyone was waiting for the other person to break the silence. Finally someone came up with the guts to speak. It was amazingly a person no one knew was there.
“But you can do this, can’t you Buffy? I can’t lose you again!” Dawn started crying at the news she had just heard. Buffy instantly went to comfort her sister and they both started crying.
“I don’t know. From what Spike said, it is going to be very hard. But he is going to help me. Why are you here, Dawn? It isn’t safe!” Buffy went instant parent mode when she was over her crying.
“I had a nightmare. There was a woman in black talking to me. All I remember her saying is ‘She’s gone. You are alone.’ I had to see if you were all right.” Dawn took up crying and hugged her sister with intensity.
Buffy’s eyes became filled with rage. <How dare she scare her like that> “Don’t worry Dawn. She is going down.”
Ten minutes before sunset, Buffy strolled into Spike’s crypt. He looked at the wall in front of him and looked like he was going to shatter it with his mind.
“Spike?” Buffy knew when he was like this, it was serious.
“Let’s get everyone together at the Magic Box. You are going to need all the help you can get.” They strolled out of his crypt and in thirty minutes they had all the Scoobies together, even Dawn. Buffy was scared to leave her alone. After plans were discussed, they all headed out. In a clearing, Spike felt the Meranor getting close and turned around to find her stalking Buffy dangerously close.
“Buffy!” He was too late. By the time she turned around, the Meranor kicked her in the stomach. Buff went flying roughly fifty feet.
“Sorry, Slayer. Did I mess up your hair? That is about all you are going to have after I am done with you.” The woman was dressed in black leather jeans and a black velvet spaghetti strap top. Her hair was half way pulled back. Her eyes were piercing and she just had content smirk on her face. She looked over at the Scoobies and smiled.
“You aren’t supposed to have any help Slayer. But good try though. Huh, witches, demons, and oh, this is a surprise, a vampire.” She looked at Spike with hatred. Her smile long gone. “I thought I told you to stay out of it!”
“You know me luv, I don’t listen.” Spike said with his trademark grin. Just then Buffy pounced the woman and had her pinned to the ground. She just laughed.
“B., is this how you treat an old friend?” The woman shifted her appearance to look exactly like Faith. Voice and all.
“Faith?” Buffy asked with a shaky voice. That was all she needed. Buffy’s concentration was out of whack and it gave the woman a perfect opportunity. The she threw Buffy off and turned back to her true form. She got up and laughed.
“Who are you?” Buffy was tired of the games, she wanted a fight, a real one. She quickly got up and prepared to charge.
“I don’t speak my own name.” The woman stared with seriousness in her voice. Buffy tried to side kick her, but…
“What kind of idiot doesn’t speak their own name?” Buffy asked when she kicked her. The woman caught Buffy’s foot and held it there.
“A powerful idiot obviously.” The woman threw Buffy by her foot over her head and laughed when she heard her land with a thud.
“Well you may not speak it but I do.” Spike came out of the shadows after watching the whole thing. Buffy needed a break and he was about to give it to her. “This is Akasha. Queen of the Vampires.”
“Ooo, I am scared. Queen of the Vamps. What a title. I’ve killed the Master.” Buffy was not impressed.
“She is also the Guardian of the Underworld and Lord of the Gods.” Spike said it with venom in his voice. He looked at Akasha with a glare that would have killed someone at the instant their eyes met.
“So ya see sweetie, I have power and I can kill you. Hell, Glory was almost there.” Akasha was finding this whole thing humorous.
“Glory, you knew her?” Buffy was getting scared at the Underworld and God thing.
“I trained Glory and made the Hell Bitch you knew. When I found her, she was just a little servant. I taught her how to fight. Halfway through her training I ordered her out of her dimension. I merely kicked her out because I needed the key.” She looked at Dawn and smiled. She walked over to her and brushed her face with her hand. Buffy was so scared she didn’t process what was happening. <She trained Glory? I am in BIG trouble>
“But I need it no longer.” Akasha released Dawn and strolled back to where Buffy and Spike were. “She did put up a good fight, but she didn’t like training so she left before I could finish my work with her. That’s why she lost.” Akasha smiled and looked up at the sky. Then, Buffy pounced on her. They fought for what seemed like years. Akasha felt a heat that she didn’t want to see. It was almost sunrise. “I have to leave before sunrise. Congratulations. You are the first Slayer ever to make it through the first night. I will give you tomorrow off to…heal.” She finished the sentence with a smirk and raised her eyebrows.
“Shay, get out.” Spike was tired of this show off. He knew she found pleasure in scaring her victims.
“Shay? I thought you said her name was Akasha?” Anya was trying to figure out this name game.
“Shay is a nickname for me. Only respected vampires and good friends are allowed to use it toward me. Hey, don’t I know you?” Shay had walked over to Anya and knew she knew her.
“Yes. I am Anyanka. You were at that convention last century when they awarded the Best Demon Awards.” Anya smiled that this distinguished vampire knew her.
“I remember. You got the Best Torture Styles award. Good for you. Like I said. I need to go. See ya in two days Buffster!” With that Shay disappeared. Buffy passed out and Spike was right by her side. He carried her home and bandaged the many wounds on her body. The next day was a silent one. Buffy slept the whole day and night along with the next day. When she woke up she remembered her problem and wanted to go back to sleep. All her wounds were healed and she went downstairs to find Spike and Giles along with the others in the living room.
“Are you feeling better luv? You slept two days.” Spike knew she was fine, but wanted to make sure.
“Yeah I’m fine.” Buffy plopped down in his lap and that is when she noticed the clock on the wall said 7:45. “7:45? I am supposed to fight that Shay girl in thirty minutes! I haven’t trained at all. She kicked my ass last time and knowing she trained Glory doesn’t help any!” Buffy was about to pass out again from loss of oxygen when Spike told her to calm down. He went to get her some water. That’s when Willow decided to pipe in.
“What if you stay in the house until midnight tonight? She can’t get into the house because she is a vampire.” Everyone looked hopeful. Buffy smiled and hugged Willow.
“That sounds like a perfect idea. I will still prepare here in case.” Buffy finally got some color back in to her face. 3 hours later, there was a knock on the door. Everyone had forgotten their troubles and so Buffy went to answer it. What or who she found scared her to death. Shay was standing at the door. She had black attire again except for a white shirt this time.
“Slayer, you surprised me, are you forgetting something?” She had a smile plastered on her face.
“Yeah right, like I am going to invite you in.” Buffy was smart this time.
“Uh, Buffy?” Spike was getting very nervous.
“But Buffy, you don’t like me?” Shay threw a pouty scene on.
“Buffy!” Spike was yelling now.
“ Someone who tries to kill me isn’t really my friend.” Buffy was tired of this!
“SLAYER!” Spike shouted very loud and startled everyone. “Shay doesn’t need an invitation to enter your house.” Spike was talking through clenched teeth. Buffy turned to Shay who was smiling. She instantly stepped through the door and gripped and Buffy by the throat and held her off the floor. Shay put a barrier up so no one could get to her and the Slayer. They were all going to watch their best friend die. She loved Judgements!
“What’s wrong Buffy? Can’t breath?” Shay was smiling at the blue slayer she held in her hands. <Too easy. I thought she was better than this>
Spike had come around the stairs and tackled Shay and instantly went to Buffy. Shay’s eyes were piercing blue and were filled with malice and rage.
“I told you to not interfere!” She said through clenched teeth.
“Yeah, well payback’s a bitch.” Spike helped Buffy get up. Shay tried to get to Spike but was stopped by an invisible barrier. She slammed her fist into it in anger. She turned to Buffy and glared at her.
“Meet me in the cemetery in ten minutes. No funny stuff. If you don’t, I swear, even though I don’t need it, I will come for my key.” She glared at Dawn. “And trust me, I will be anything but nice.” She walked out of the house and disappeared. Buffy had gained breath and looked at Dawn and then Spike.
“Let’s go.” Buffy was fixed on killing the bitch who threatened her family.
“Buffy you can’t! She’ll kill you! Don’t worry about me!” Dawn was on the verge of tears.
“I said let’s go!” Buffy walked out of her home for what she thought the last time of her life.
“Thought you would show. Can’t forget a family threat.” Shay walked out of the bushes with her trademark smile on her face.
Buffy looked at her with hatred in her eyes. “No I can’t. And that’s why you are going down.”
Shay laughed and said, “You have ten minutes to stay alive before your judgement is over. You really think you can do it?”
“It’s 11:50. I have made it this far, why not the rest of the way?” Buffy was trying to stall out the ten minutes that she had left of her life.
“Let’s get this over with. I wanna go home.” Shay was starting to pout again. She laughed and strolled over to Buffy. She got right up to her nose. “Prepare to die.” She whispered it so no one could hear except Spike and Buffy. Buffy pushed her away and waited for her to make the first move. She knew how Akasha fought and knew she was better off being patient.
“Hey!” Shay was surprised by the girl’s reaction but found it funny. She knew what the Slayer was doing she decided to surprise her. She quietly stalked her out. Spike realized what she was going to do.
“Watch out for her hair!” Spike wanted to help her but he knew he couldn’t.
“Her hair? I should be telling you that right now!” Buffy thought he was trying to tease her but she found she was wrong. Shay’s hair became harshly braided and filled with shards of glass and rocks. She lashed out at Buffy and severely scratched her face, arms, and stomach. At the same time Buffy was thrown back. She screamed out in agony. Shay’s hair turned back to normal. She laughed.
“You should have taken his warning baby. Although I don’t like people telling my secrets.” She began to stalk Buffy with intensity.
“Just a few more minute Buffy!” Willow was trying to raise her hopes up by trying to raise Buffy’s.
Shay realized the urgency and picked up Buffy by the throat. The last minute of her life. Suddenly Willow said, “IT’S MIDNIGHT!” Shay felt a pain in her hand and she instantly dropped Buffy. The witch had tricked her. She knew she had lost. Shay looked at Buffy and saw the many scratches and scars on her body. If Buffy wasn’t helped in a few hours, she would die, Slayer or not. She looked at Buffy and reached at her. When she touched Buffy, the scars and scratches disappeared and Buffy felt a new energy in her body. She felt alive. She looked down. She almost passed out in surprise. Shay was kneeling in front of Buffy, head down in humility.
“You have won Buffy Anne Summers. You have passed a judgement no Slayer has passed.” Shay looked up at Buffy. “I am your servant.” She added with a smile.
“Wow. How did you…uh…huh?” Buffy was really confused. Suddenly she heard a familiar yet annoying voice behind her.
“My, my. She passed. Who would have known?” Quentin Travers stood behind everyone. He looked surprised to say the least. “You are no longer needed Your Majesty. You are free to return to your Underworld.” He nodded at Akasha and turned back to the group of Watchers behind him.
“Excuse me?” Shay was boiling with rage. “You cannot do to this. First you force me to find a killer of my kind, then you give me three days to observe her and three days to kill her. Personally, I do not like the Powers That Be because they have yet to treat me with respect and I will not take it from you. The last Judgement I was sent on I killed the girl in two minutes!” Everyone’s jaws dropped and their eyes bugged out. They now knew not to anger the queen in front of them. “Buffy is beyond her years in fighting and wisdom. You told me I would find a young, insolent girl focused on only herself. Mr. Travers, you seriously misjudge everyone around you. She has a love for her family and friends I have never seen. This girl is the most special Slayer, ever. So far you have done nothing but chose sluts, prom queens, and valley girls as your Slayers. This one is special. What are you going to do with her now?” Shay was trying to calm herself down, but it wasn’t working.
“I suppose we shall take her into observance.” Travers wasn’t impressed. The Powers That Be had told him that the young woman in front of him was all talk and no action. She simply acted bad-ass because she wanted to be the big bad.
“You will do nothing of the sort!” Shay started stalking towards Travers when she was blocked by two men holding crosses. She violently pushed them aside regardless of the crosses. Another shot a stake into her heart. She turned to dust. And then came right back to life. She threw Travers into the wall of a crypt. She got right in his face. “What have the Powers been telling you about me, huh? That I can’t die? Was that one of them? You need to know your enemies better. This girl is the most special Slayer this world has. You will not ruin her by running your stupid tests. All they have done in the past is kill innocent girls who have no normal life. Train her. Make her something special she deserves it after what you have put her through.”
“And and and who will t-t-train he-her?” Mr. Travers was getting very scared now.
“I will. And don’t think of objecting. I have 50 million vampires and the armies of hell at my disposal. Don’t think I won’t send them on you if you try to kill her.” Shay was beyond angry now. Everyone was watching in awe at the conversation. Spike was smiling at his fellow vampire and Queen. “Now. Get. Out.” She immediately vamped out and growled at him. Travers started to leave and heard a voice behind him shout.
“That will teach you to mess with the Slayer!” Buffy was so happy about Travers almost peeing his pants. Akasha turned around, still vamped out, and walked over to Buffy. Her human visage came back on and Buffy could see the anger in her eyes. Eyes that were very familiar. They were ice blue. <Oh My God> Buffy’s eyes got big when she started glancing from Spike to Shay and back to Spike. The eyes. Spike saw what was happening. <Uh oh>
“OH MY GOD!” Buffy was hysterical now.
“Buffy what’s wrong?” Shay was worried. She didn’t know what was wrong.
“Your eyes, they are exactly like..”
“Bloody hell.” Spike went to Shay and glared at her.
“Tell her Spike. She deserves to know. After all, I am going to be around for a while now, training her that is.” Shay was smiling at Spike who was giving her an “I will get you for this later” look.
“You were serious about training me?” Buffy was shocked. She thought that was just an act to get Travers to leave.
“Yes. You are special. Like I said, no Slayer has every gotten to this point. You deserve much more than they can give you.” Shay was surprised that Buffy didn’t believe her.
“Are you sure you are okay with this, Shay?” Spike didn’t want to tell Buffy his secret, but she did deserve to know.
“What the hell is going on?” Giles was very shocked but wanted to know what was going on.
“Tell her Spike.”
“Spike if you are cheating on me…” Buffy started to think.
Shay started laughing. Almost uncontrollable. Spike joined in also. Soon they were on the ground laughing and crying. Shay looked up at Buffy and Smiled. “Like I would sleep with my own brother!”
Silence was everywhere, except for the sound of Xander’s head hitting the ground.
“B-b-brother?” Buffy was shocked to say the least.
“Yes, b-b-brother. Not that I am happy or anything.” Spike got a good hit on the arm for that one.
“Spike is my little brother. I thought he would have told you or something. What gave it away?” Shay was still laughing a little.
“Your eyes. They are both ice blue.” Buffy was getting over the initial shock and started laughing about the incest thing, but she realized something. “That’s why I thought I felt Spike in the cemetery, it was his sister!”
“We did get our mother’s eyes didn’t we, Will?” She said her brother’s real name loud so everyone could hear.
“That’s about all you got from her, Leah.” Spike saw a familiar look in his sister’s eyes. Everyone was looking at the two vampires who had just said each other’s names. Willow piped in now. “Leah? Is that your real name before you were turned?”
“It was Willow. Now if you will excuse me, I have a brother to KILL!” With that word, she vamped out and started to beat her brother to a pulp, just playfully of course. Then she started tickling him and they were both being stared out with confused eyes. “Baby brother, you have yet to put up a good fight with me!” Shay was out of breath from chasing him across the cemetery.
“Oh well, what’s the rush?” Spike didn’t like being called a baby brother, but put up with it. Just then a vampire jumped Buffy. She wasn’t prepared but Shay was on him in a second. She picked up the vamp by his hair and when she let go, he didn’t fall to the ground. He stayed suspended in Mid-air. She looked at him with a black expression. Everyone was nervous. So was Shay. She would normally beat him to a pulp and then end his torment with his begging for death. She would finally give it him. But now since mortals were around, she couldn’t do that. Spike made sure of that.
“Luv, be careful. There are children around.” Spike casually lit a cigarette and blew out the smoke.
“I know that Spike. I just want some info out of him.” She faced that scared fledging. “Do you know who I am?” She asked sweetly.
“Yes.” He was nervous. She loved it when they were like this.
“You are getting off easy. You tell your vamp friends to lay low, okay?”
“So, y-you are going t-t-to let me g-g-o?”
“I guess so.” Shay sounded disappointed. “But then again I won’t.” Shay turned around and started walking away, with the vampire still in mid-air. Then she snapped her fingers and he started screaming in agony. Slowly but suddenly he turned to dust.
“Wow. I have got to learn that trick.” Buffy was amazed by the vampire’s power.
“Maybe later, Slayer, maybe later.” Shay just laughed and went to the Slayer’s side. It was almost sunrise.
“Spike where are you staying?” Shay looked at her brother and hoped he wasn’t just living on the street.
“Well that depends. On bad days I live in my old crypt. On good days I live in Buffy’s bedroom.” Spike smirked and enjoyed how red Buffy got. She was still nervous about her new lover’s reaction with all her friends.
“You always were one to provoke torment.” Shay sighed. “I’m staying at a friends so I will meet with you tomorrow after sunset.” She turned to go.
“Bloody hell-you are not staying with him are you?” Spike looked like he was going to hurl at any moment.
“Of course I am. It’s the nicest place here! Don’t get all parent mode on me!” Shay started leaving again when a question came up when she wished it wouldn’t have.
“Who are you staying with Akasha?” Willow was curious and wanted to know.
“Call me Shay. I am staying with Dracula.” Shay looked at Buffy’s expression change from shock to anger to disgust. Shay just laughed. “We go back aways, and I forced him to open his home to me. It’s okay.
“Why not stay with Spike, Akasha?”
“Willow! Call me Shay. I hate that name! I refuse to stay in some run down crypt.”
“Spike’s not staying in his crypt anymore actually. He moved in with me last week.” Buffy looked around nervously as for approval.
“Are you inviting me to live in your house Buffy?” Shay was surprised to say the least.
“Yes. I would actually feel better with you there. Dawn needs someone besides me to protect her at night. Spike can’t hurt humans anymore so I need a person who can actually help me there.” Instantly Buffy heard a growl coming from Spike. “Let me guess. She didn’t know about the chip did she?”
“No, I didn’t. Spike what is this about not being able to hurt humans anymore?” Shay was enjoying this too much.
“Shut the hell up and shove it up your…” Spike gave Shay the birdie and when he did, he got exactly what he was looking for. Shay’s eyes held anger, but when she went to pulverize him, she encountered a barrier of some sort.
“You had better be glad that that is there or I..”
“Or you’d what? Huh? Yeah right, like I want her living with us with a death warrant out for me.” Spike tried to control his laughter to be more serious, but it wasn’t working.
“What is wrong, how come she wasn’t able to touch you?” Willow asked, she didn’t put that barrier up so she wanted to know who did.
“That is a protection barrier put up so we can’t hurt each other. It is damn annoying sometimes. Like now! But if he isn’t able to touch humans, then he can’t harm anything else. He hasn’t got the gut to. He is just like that little worm he was before he was turned. What Druscilla saw in you I have no idea, but of course, she was a raging lunatic. I guess that explains it.” Shay was luring him right into her trap. It was his turn to run into the barrier.
“Payback’s a bitch, huh!” Shay was boiling over still about her little run in with the wall, but was enjoying this much better.
“You little..”
“Uh huh, we have children around don’t we?” Shay was enjoying this too much. Spike wasn’t.
“Let’s go Buffy.” Everyone had watched the conversation with nervousness. This was getting out of hand. <They really do act like brothers and sisters> Buffy wanted to go home and put Dawn to bed.
“Spike, Shay is staying with us and no arguments. Can I trust you to be nice while you get her stuff?” Buffy was tired and now she really wanted to go home.
“No need to get my stuff. It is already at your house. Telekinetic powers come with the Lord and Queen package.” Shay was about to leave when she got hit in the back of the head by a black-nail-polished hand.
“No funny business now, ya hear? Be nice. Especially around Dawn. If you hurt on hair on the Nibblet’s head I’ll…”
“I know Wills, I know.” Shay rolled her eyes and walked over to Buffy while Buffy laughed at the show. She was with Dawn and all three girls linked arms along with Anya and Willow. Together they walked towards the Summer’s home. Xander was with Spike and they just walked in silence. When they got home, Spike and Xander were very surprised. Shay had moved into Dawn’s room and they had used Shay’s power to totally refurnish the room. It was now a rainbow of colors and had all kinds of posters around it. There were two Twin sized beds on each side of the room.
“Oh boy.” Xander still hadn’t processed everything when the brother/sister thing came up. So He just left it all to the Buffster to figure out. Shay was doing Dawn’s hair and Willow and Anya were looking through bridal magazines and Buffy was eating chocolate and ice cream. So was Dawn.
“Hiya boys! Spike I need you to do a swift patrol and take Xander with you.” Buffy really hoped this worked.
“Bloody hell-fine. Let’s go whelp!” Spike and Xander immediately turned around and left the Summer’s home without a second glance. As soon as they were out of range, Buffy spoke up.
“Thanks for the heads up on the boys coming. Now finish your story!” She was bouncing with excitement. Willow and Anya threw the magazines down and everyone rushed forward at Shay’s feet.
“Okay, so Spike had this little rabbit and he…”
After an hour of finding nothing, Spike and Xander went back to the house to find sugar and junk food everywhere and the girls sprawled out and fast asleep.
“I should have seen this coming. When Buffy asks something with that much innocence, it is bad. VERY bad.”
“Yeah, yeah, shut your hole and help me put them to bed. We can put Buffy and the Nibblet in Buffy’s bed, Shay in her bed and Willow in Dawn’s bed. Where are you going to put Anya?”
“I’ll probably take her home and put her to bed. What are going to do about this mess?” Xander certainly didn’t want to pick it up.
“I’ll get Shay to pick it up. She can just say a few words and poof-it’s gone.” Spike began to gently lift Dawn off of Shay and Buffy’s lap. It was a hard task, but he did it and put her Buffy’s bed. She didn’t stir. He didn’t think she would. She was tired. “Goodnight Nibblet.”
Xander put Willow in Dawn’s bed and started to pick up Anya when Spike came back down after putting Buffy in her bed with Dawn.
“I’ll see ya later Spike. If ya need any help cleaning up, don’t call me.” Xander smiled and left with Anya in his arms. Spike just smiled and gently lifted Shay in his arms. She stirred a bit, but she didn’t wake. He gently put her in her bed and whispered goodnight when she opened her eyes.
“Thank you William. I love you, ya know.” Shay smiled and closed her eyes again.
“I love you too Leah.” Spike left and made his was down to the couch to find all the trash and everything gone. <Thanks Leah> Spike closed the curtains and laid down on the couch and instantly fell asleep.
The next morning was confusing as hell. Buffy didn’t expect to find herself in bed and she rolled around and fell out of the bed. Spike woke up to a big boom and ran up stairs to find Shay, Willow, and Dawn laughing it up with the Slayer on the floor rubbing her head with an evil glare on her face. Spike was wondering what the hell was going on.
“Someone care to explain?” Spike tried to pry it out of the girls but they were laughing too hard.
“I didn’t expect to be in bed and I rolled out of bed and hit my head.” Buffy was still rubbing her head and finally gave up trying to make it feel better. It really did hurt. But seeing Spike laughing also didn’t help. She started walking out of the room but was blocked by the vampire queen.
“Buffy, sweetie, where does it hurt.” Shay had finally calmed down a bit to see that the bump really did hurt. When Buffy pointed to a certain point on her head, Shay gently touched it and from the shocked expression on Buffy’s face, it had worked. She loved it when she shocked mortals with her magic.
“Wow. It doesn’t hurt anymore.” She smiled at Shay warmly.
“It doesn’t? How?” Dawn was curious.
“I used my magic. Just like the living room and kitchen are spotless. And why our room will be the cleanest in the house.” She winked at Dawn.
“Will it work on homework also?” Dawn was really getting too hopeful.
Before Buffy could oppose Dawn, Shay jumped in.
“No. I will not use magic for any other purpose than benefiting health or otherwise good services.” Shay looked more serious than Buffy usually did. So Dawn didn’t want to question the vampire queen’s authority.
“I thought you said you were going to have the cleanest room in the house?” Willow was amazed with the vampiress’ power and wanted to know more.
“I also said that I would use my magic to aid health issues.” Everyone laughed again and decided to go downstairs it was almost nightfall and the girls wanted to go to the Bronze. They called Xander and Anya and asked if they wanted to come over. Xander said Anya was angry because he didn’t wake her up to have a romantic evening and so she wanted to make up for it tonight in double. Everyone knew that meant she hadn’t had sex and wanted to double the number of pleasures she was going to get. Buffy told Xander that was okay and hung up. When she went into the kitchen she didn’t get what she expected to see. Everyone was already dressed and ready. Buffy was still in her PJ’s.
“Did I miss something?”
“I just did a spell to warp time for us. You were only on the phone for three minutes, but I made it so that every minute is a thirty minutes. So we have been ready for an hour and a half.” Willow was very proud of her spell she did. Shay told her how to do it and she was a great teacher. Willow was glad that she was around for Dawn and Buffy, but especially for Spike. Willow smiled to herself when she remembered when she saw them acting like children. It was rather funny.
“So what am I supposed to do?” Buffy was amazed at Willow’s power to say the least.
“I’ll do it again for you Buffy. I’ll give you an hour, is that okay?”
“Sure-make it thirty minutes and you have a deal.” Buffy zoomed up the stairs and started to get ready. She was ready and went downstairs and they all left, Dawn included. The place was pumping and everyone was having a great time. Willow and Shay talked about Magic while Dawn listened in. Buffy and Spike danced a little but mostly talked and relaxed. A man about his mid-twenties walked up to Shay and smiled.
“Why Akasha, fancy finding you here. That explains why one of my minions didn’t come home last night.” The man took her hand and kissed it.
“Your minion happened to disturb me while I was doing an errand for the Powers. Surely you, Nigel, understand that better than anyone.” Shay could see Willow getting nervous and squeezed her hand. She just hoped that Nigel would leave. He could make even Shay nervous, but she didn’t let on.
“Sorry to disturb you, Your Majesty, but have you taken on mortals as slaves again?” Dawn tensed when he said this but Shay quickly gave her a glance that said to not be afraid.
“Don’t you have a place to be Nigel?” Shay was getting tired of this. Nigel always bugged her. He did it just to annoy her and boy did it work.
“I just wanted to see what you are doing on the Hellmouth, but I guess that question has been answered.” Nigel smirked and started to leave. Buffy and Spike noticed him and Spike filled her in on what the vampire was doing. She then had a plan to get his attention.
“I had a Slayer Judgement to deal with. These are some of her friends and family. This is Willow and her sister Dawn.”
“Well, if this one is anything like her sister was, she must have been beautiful.” Nigel stroked Dawn’s cheek when Shay had enough.
“Let her go.”
“ My, my, we were always overprotective weren’t we?” Nigel snickered and removed his hand. Spike walked up behind him and growled, making his presence known.
“And you were always the one to make trouble, get out.” Spike forcefully pushed him out the door in the alley behind the Bronze and put his demon mask on. Shay followed along with the three girls.
“Spike don’t okay?” Shay didn’t want this to happen. One thing always followed another and she didn’t want Dawn to see Him like this. Nigel had a way of bringing out the demon in everybody, literally.
“Dawn are you alright?” Buffy saw the vampire touch Dawn earlier was terrified. Who knew what this vampire was up to? From what Spike had told her, she didn’t want him near Dawn or any one of her friends.
“ Is that the mother?” Nigel asked with a smirk.
“Mother?”
“Oh boy-you’re going to get it now.” Spike decided to sit back and watch the show. <This is going to be interesting>
“Mother?”
“Buffy, calm down!” Shay tried to calm the Slayer down but it wasn’t working. She looked to Spike for help but when she saw him, she knew it was too late to even be trying to convince him to help. He was enjoying this. He never really liked Nigel and knew that is he played his cards right, or wrong in Nigel’s case, Buffy would be going over the edge.
“MOTHER? DO I LOOK LIKE A MOTHER TO YOU!” Buffy was exploding and was about to stake the vampire.
“Miss, do not dissolve and become angered with me, I simply wished to know your relationship with the young child and I…”
Buffy was on the vampire in a second stake in hand.
“She is not a child and I am her sister thank you very much. Shay may not like it but I am willing to stake you for all your worth.” Buffy was raging and the vampire suddenly realized who she was.
“She passed.” Nigel looked at Shay and she saw fear in his eyes. “The SLAYER actually passed!”
“And you are dust!” Buffy staked the vampire known as Nigel with ease and got up while dusting herself off.
“I actually liked him ya know.” Shay was a good liar and was using it to the best of her abilities. <Finally! Someone killed the bastard>
“I thought he was a pain in the ass.” Dawn said with a shrug.
“Dawn, language.” Buffy didn’t want Dawn speaking like Spike again. That was the last thing she needed.
“Who was that Shay?” Willow had been quiet the whole time. She saw how he made even Shay nervous.
“That was an old friend of mine.” With the word friend, Spike had to hold in his laughter, but wasn’t doing a good job at it.
“Spike, don’t start. Nigel was a loyal vampire to the Master. When I demanded my ruling requirements of the Master, he was not cooperative. So I took it out on his favorites, Nigel being one of them. Darla was another, but she was much more obedient.”
“And keep in mind she uses the word demanding very loosely.” Spike was lit up and watching the different emotions come across Shay’s face. The newest one playful hatred and annoyance directed at yours truly.
“You never did tell us the story of your ascension up the vampire ladder.” Dawn was into gross stuff that most normal 15 year olds weren’t into. But then again, she wasn’t a normal 15-year-old girl.
“When you are older Dawn.” Shay had the ‘serious’ look on her face. The story of her life was a definite R Rated story.
“But I am older, than any of you actually.” <I might as well throw that one in also, there is no way Buffy would let me listen to a vampire story. She freaks out when Spike looks at me>
“No.” Dawn jumped back at this answer. Buffy, Shay, and Spike had both yelled it at her.
“Jeez, get out much?” She was prepared for it so she wasn’t really hurt.
“It’s late, I need to go on patrol and talk with Spike, Willow, and Shay for a while, please Dawn?” Buffy was just as curious as Dawn was and wanted to know the story.
“Fine, I’m going.” Dawn walked home and went to bed as the ‘adults’ talked in the living room.
“Buffy, what do you want to talk about?” Willow was worried that a new baddie had come to town and she was already in research mode.
“I want to talk about the same thing Dawn did. From what Spike told me about Nigel, I definitely don’t want to run into any of your old “friends” again.”
Shay glared daggers at Spike. “What Spike told you is probably not true. You won’t run into any of my friends because I don’t have any. And I am not sure you are ready to hear my story, not yet anyway.”
“Shay, Buffy and I have seen a lot of gory stuff and have saved the world six times!” Willow was on a roll.
“Actually Willow that would be seven counting Glory.” Buffy was hoping the witch was getting through to the vampire.
“ANYWAY! I think we deserve to know how you came to be whatever you are and I think we deserve that explanation now!” Willow was huffing and puffing and blew the house down. All Shay could do was smile at the red-head’s bravery. Not many beings, let alone humans dared to LOOK Shay in the eye, let alone even talk to her in that manner.
“I didn’t need the speech, but I admire your courage.”
“What do you mean my courage? I speak to everyone like that when I am angry.”
“If you really want to know, then I will tell you. But, please be open minded-And no smart-ass comments from you!” She once again glared at Spike who put on a ‘but I’m innocent’ look.
“Okay-let’s start from the beginning.” Shay took an un-needed breath and began her life story.
London, England-1875
“Leah Marie van Daan, get down here this instant!” Leah sighed and did what her mother told her. At the age of twenty-three, most girls were married off or even engaged, but Leah was not. She was always amazed by mythology and witchcraft, but never got into heavy magic. The only reason she wasn’t married off is she couldn’t find a man who would accept her. I mean, plenty of men had already proposed to her. Her family was probably the richest in London. Her house was huge. She had the whole East wing of it to herself. Riches and beauty were her cards, but she never played them. Even at the age of 14, men would ask for her hand in marriage. She would ask of their dark secrets and use truth spells to make them speak their mind. She wanted to find a man into the dark arts who could help her. She felt empty without magic and wanted someone with the same love.
“What is it mother? I am very busy.” Truth be told, Leah was bored out of her mind. William was away to Paris and she had no one to torment. The other family in the house-hold were too precious to be around. Her mother never really liked Leah or William for that matter. They were often secluded to their own worlds. William knew of Leah’s witchcraft studies and often helped her. But other than that, they did nothing to together, but the occasional tease and run.
“Another man has come for you my dear, be nice and accept.” Her mother hissed at her and grabbed her arm painfully. Leah didn’t flinch because she didn’t have to. She found a spell to reverse pain. The more pain and anger directed towards her the stronger the spell. Soon she would be invincible, but she didn’t care. Leah walked in and found a man dressed in black, head to toe. He had long brown hair tied back in a pony tail. His skin was pale and his eyes were very dark. He pierced her with them and smiled an evil grin.
“Isn’t it a bit late for pleasantries?” Leah was always hateful towards the men who called for her, but found it difficult to do so with this man. Her mother left the two alone and Leah, for the first time, felt uneasy with this man.
“Nay, my lady. For me the real day has just begun. My name is Nigel Westburry. I have a proposal for you.” The man smiled and sat down.
“If it is a marriage proposal, then my answer is already…”
“It is not a marriage proposal.”
“Then what is it?” Leah found herself totally intrigued by the man in front of her.
“It is one of darkness, evil, and hatred. You can walk in the darkness and never turn back. You can live forever and live off of life itself.” Nigel knew he got her with the word darkness.
“You have my attention. Go on.” Leah’s mind was racing. <Is it what he says it is>
“Follow me and I can give it to you.” Nigel stood and offered his hand to Leah.
She took it.
“Mother, I am going out with Mr. Westburry and will be back late tonight.” She didn’t wait for a reply because she bolted out the door with Nigel. Together they walked the streets of London and he led her to a small underground tunnel.
“Well you were certainly right about the darkness part. How can you see?” Leah turned around to find the man she called Nigel not a man at all, but rather a monster. His eyes were no longer dark but golden. His face had ridges and his teeth were fangs.
“Vampires” She whispered the word. She didn’t even know if she had said the word out loud. “I should have known. Living on life itself-blood, walk in the darkness-you can’t walk in sunlight, which explains why you came so late, and living forever-another demon perk. Anything else I should know?” Leah was outrage, not at Nigel but at herself for not seeing it before. <Now you’re going to die because of your mistake>
“You know of me?” Nigel was impressed at this girl’s knowledge of vampires.
“I know of your kind. Not you. Now are you going to kill me or not?” Leah started pacing not out of nervousness or fear, but of excitement.
“Not I, but my Master.” With that Nigel slammed Leah into the wall of the tunnel and she fell unconscious. He picked her up in his arms and carried her off to the Master and her soon-to-be sire.
Leah woke up right when Nigel put her down on a bed. He started to leave when he was shocked to hear her voice.
“Why am I not dead yet? You people take a awful long time don’t you?” Leah was sitting up and her arms were crossed across her chest. Nigel was still game face and was surprised when it didn’t faze her.
“Well, well, well-she’s awake already.” A woman with blonde hair stepped in. She was also in game face and was equally surprised when the girl wasn’t scared.
“Awake and annoyed. If you are going to kill me or turn me-I don’t care which one-do it so I won’t die of boredom first.” The woman stared at her like she was covered in spots.
“Such a young arrogance for a young girl. My name is Darla. The Master will want to see you now.” Darla angrily stepped out the room and glared at Nigel. He roughly picked up Leah who just rolled her eyes.
“That did not hurt you?” He said it more as a fact than a question.
“I live on pain.” She just snickered and walked on. She came up to a great hall were she was chained up by four other vampires. All she did was roll her eyes and sighed. An old vampire she guessed to be the Master observed her and was amazed. She was not scared and pain didn’t come to her. <I guess I can’t torture her then>
“What is your name child?”
“My name is Leah and don’t even think about it.” The vampire who was about to strike her to the ground stopped mid air and was amazed she knew he was there.
“You have great power. My children inform me of your reaction towards the vampires. How did you know of us?”
“I thought you were pure myth until Mr. Prim and Proper showed up on my door taking me here. I am into mythology and witchcraft and are you GOING TO KILL ME OR NOT?” A vampire took a blade to her arm and slashed it. It was a rather deep wound. All Leah did was laugh.
“Was that supposed to hurt or just tickle?” Leah knew she was going to get it, but she couldn't help but see the disappointment in the vampire’s eyes. “I live on pain and would rather be cut up to a million pieces than have to live with that stinky whore of yours so please keep going.” Leah did her best to try not to laugh at Darla’s expression but was not succeeding. The Master knew she was going to make a great vampire so he took the responsibility upon himself to stalk her out. Once he was right in her face he said, “My pleasure.” With that, he sank his fangs into her neck as she cried out in pleasure. The spell she had done to prevent pain had turned the pain into pleasure. She was quickly drained and drank the Master’s blood. Two hours later she awoke on the same bed she had before. She saw the Master and another vampire talking.
“It’s about time you killed me. You were taking so long I thought I would die of boredom.” Leah leaned back into the frame of the bed and let the dark magic course through her.
“My dear girl, you have already awakened! It usually takes half a day for a new vampire to awaken.” The woman started to walk to Leah and smiled warmly at her.
“Who are you?” She asked the question not with hatred but with confusion.
“I am your mother, if you will. And the Master will be your Father. My name is Revena. I am the Queen of the Vampires. The Master is just that. The King of the Vampires, and your sire. You must be very respectful towards him, do you understand?” Leah shook her head yes and instantly made a bond with these vampires. The Master walked over to Leah and ran his eyes over her body.
“I was right. You are the perfect vampire. You shall no longer be Leah Marie van Daan, but Akasha. It suits you.” The Master was beaming with pride for his new childe. But he knew that would not go well with his other favorites. Darla and Nigel were never really happy when their sire would get new children, but they were never as special. He remembered how Nigel acted when he first sired Darla. He would kill anything just to get attention. <But he knew he would always be my first favorite>
“Akasha-what does it mean?” Leah really liked the name. Her Master was right, it did suit her.
“It means ‘bringer of pain and death.’” The Queen smiled at Shay but it quickly faded. “I must leave now and go back to my dimension.”
“You can travel dimensions, how?” Shay had heard of traveling, but it was never perfected.
“My position with the Gods allow it. I will hope to see you soon my dearest daughter.” With that, Revena walked out of the room and disappeared. The Master turned to Shay and stood up, offering his hand.
“It is time you met your other family. Do not be surprised by their actions. They do not take kindly to other favorites.” Shay took his hand and followed him to the Grand Hall, where Darla and Nigel were, along with other vampires. When Shay knew that she would be threatening Nigel and Darla’s position, she took the Master’s extended arm and smiled a wicked smile toward Darla who was fuming.
“Master, she is already awake? That is impossible. Her training can not be over!” Darla looked at Shay and growled.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
“Training, what training?” Buffy was confused. She just woke up but she was in training.
“I was afraid that would come up.” Shay looked to Spike for help.
“Oh no. You said no comments so I am not making any comments until my time comes.” Spike was pleased that she didn’t question it any further.
“The dimension my mother ruled is for vampires. Mainly fledgings. When they are turned, they die, right? So at their death, they are sent to this dimension where they are trained to fight. A day here is like an hour there. A normal fledging takes two weeks to complete training or fourteen hours here. So you can be surprised when I was only there for two days.”
“Gotcha, so go on. This is getting very interesting.” Willow was thinking of numerous spells to skip dimensions and then she could rid the world of vampires forever!
/////////////////////////////////////////////
“This girl is very special.” The Master once again looked at Shay with pride. All she did was smirk and laugh.
“Well, Leah, I guess you ought to be thanking me.” Nigel wanted some credit for bringing her to the Master.
“My name is not Leah, it’s Akasha, or Shay if you will.” Shay thought Akasha was too long so made up a nickname for herself. “And I am not thanking you for getting me killed. All you did was take me here. I WOULD have found my own was to become a vampire even if it wasn’t your fault.” Shay flipped her hair and turned around to follow in her Master’s steps. Nigel just stared at her and growled. Darla was fuming and didn’t like the girl they called Akasha. The two looked at each other and knew that there was nothing they could do. Shay followed the Master to her new room which was HUGE. It was Darla’s first room. She had taken up residence elsewhere with her new childe and granchilde and was very happy.
“It’s amazing Master!” Shay was very grateful that the Master had taken a liking to her so much.
“You shall stay with me at all times. I shall teach you to hunt and feed. We shall choose your first childe tomorrow.” With that he left her to explore the room and sleep. She wasn’t very tired. <I think I am going to like it here>
