Part 8:
//////////////////////////////////////////
“WHAT?”
Shay looked at the vampires in front of her and smiled a sickly sweet smile.
“I said you will start going to school with them tomorrow. Social services are worse than demons when it comes to getting their way. So until then, you will both be joining Dawn at Sunnydale High School.” Morganna glared at her sister. Rena just looked like she was going to kill something. Dawn was about to break her face with that smile.
“I haven’t been to school in over 100 years. I JUST SENT THE BIGGEST HULK OF A HUMAN I’VE EVER SEEN TO A HOSPITAL!”
Shay glared at her sister at that comment. “I know it has been a while, but consider it a second chance. We all know that you and Rena never got to finish your school.” Shay smiled sadly at her sister and cousin while they remembered their wonderful school.
//What do you think//
Morganna rolled her eyes
//Do we have a choice//
Rena smiled and spoke for them both.
“What time do we have to be there?”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////
“Xander, is that you?” Dawn walked in the Magic Box. She had on jeans and a t-shirt that said Princess on it in glitter. She seemed extremely perky for being about to go to school. “Hey, if a girl comes in here wanting Dawn, tell her I’m out back. She will start giving me a ride, ok?” Xander nodded and went back to cleaning. A few minutes later a girl came in with shoulder length brown hair. It was curled under and was layered. It had blonde streaks in it. She had on knee high black boots with a leopard dress on. It was short and was sleeveless. She held a black leather jacket in her arms. She began looking around the Magic Box. Xander’s mind took one direction-hot girl looking for something that I can help her with-and he smiled. He walked up to her. Her back was turned to him and she was looking at one of the older Egyptian artifacts that they had stocked up on a few days before. When he got close enough, he could smell her. She smelled like green apples and cinnamon. He cleared his throat. He wanted to sound masculine.
“Is there anything I can help you with Miss?” There, that sounded good. He was ready to be smiled at sweetly and begged for help. All he got was a pissed off vampire with a need to flip someone off. At Xander’s scream, Dawn came running in the door. She smiled when she saw Emily. They had opted to call all the van Daans by their first names. Spike and Akasha along with Morganna and Rena didn’t sound to convincing. Emily just smiled.
“Hey Dawnie, are you ready to go to school?” Xander got over the initial shock and shook his head violently.
“You are not riding with this criminal Dawn!” Both of the girls rolled their eyes.
“Buffy let her pick me up yesterday. She saved me from a brutal emotional beating also. She also put Chad in his proper place, namely the hospital.” Xander had to smile at that. Dawn was having so much trouble with the two evils in the school. As long as Buffy trusted them, he guessed he could also. With a sigh, he nodded his head and the girls were gone before he could even blink. They had taken the silver corvette. How they got the money for those cars no one knew, but they didn’t bother asking. As the girls drove, Emily put down the black top and cranked up the radio.
Under a lover’s sky
Gonna be with you
And no one’s gonna be around
If you think that you won’t fall
Well just wait until
Til the sun goes down
Emily and Dawn both smiled at the lyrics so far. LeAnn Rimes obviously knew she had made the song just for vampires.
Underneath the starlight, starlight
There’s a magical feeling so right
It will steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
Oh yeah, this was gonna be one of their favorite songs from now on
Deep in the dark
You’ll surrender your heart
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
No, you can’t fight it
It’s gonna get to your heart
There’s no escaping love
When a gentle breeze
Weaves its spell upon your heart
No matter what you think
It won’t be to long
Til you’re in my arms
They both started to get into the song and were screaming and singing along with the radio.
Underneath the starlight, starlight
We’ll be lost in the rhythm so right
Will it will steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
When they started to get stares and glares from the noise, both girls quieted but didn’t turn the radio down. This was just too much fun.
Deep in the dark
You’ll surrender your heart
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
No, you can’t fight it
No matter what you do
The night is gonna get to you
Emily could see the sign that told them they were just a few minutes away from the school. She sighed and decided not to ruin this school year. She didn’t realize how much she loved school until she left it.
Underneath the starlight, starlight
There’s a magical feeling so right
It will steal your heart tonight
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You’ll surrender your heart
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
No, you can’t fight it
You can try to resist
Try to hide from my kiss
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
Deep in the dark
You’ll surrender your heart
But you know, but you know that you
Can’t fight the moonlight
No you can’t fight it
It’s gonna get to your heart
The two girls smiled at each other when the song ended.
“I never knew country could be so enlightenin’.” Emily drawled out the southern accent to make it sound more Southern Belle. Dawn just laughed. Emily turned up the radio even more when No Doubt’s new song-Hella Good-came on. They dark song made everyone in the parking lot turn to the silver ‘vette. They watched as Dawn Summers and one of the most beautiful girls they had ever seen stepped out. The new girl took off her sunglasses revealing piercing blue eyes. One of the young men she had attracted was another sophomore *Dawn and Emily are in the 10th grade and Kate is in the 12th grade* His name was Sean. And boy was he cute. He had on khaki pants and a navy blue shirt. He had light blue eyes and blonde hair. He was voted most likely to Succeed, Prettiest Eyes, Friendliest Smile, Best Dressed, and the Sexiest guy in the school. It didn’t really bother him that much. There were some cute girls at Sunnydale High. One of them he thought was Dawn. She had potential. And now this young woman walking with her was even more like him. Confidence and Elegance radiated off of her. She took off her sunglasses and placed them in her bag. He saw that she had not just blue eyes, but piercing ice blue eyes. She winked at him and strolled off to look at the school.
“There’s the school. I didn’t think I could do it, but now I know I can. I’ll take you to the office to get your schedule and locker number. It can be a real bitch getting around.” Dawn realized what she had said and looked at Emily expecting a lecture on swearing. When she got none, she decided she REALLY like Emily.
“Miss Edwards, what a nice surprise. I have heard from your wonderful friend here that you were joining us. Please, come make yourself comfortable in my office.” (The vampires decided to go with another last name because of the famous van Daans) Dawn gaped at the principal. For one thing, he hated Dawn. The feeling was mutual. Here he was worshipping the ground she walked on.
“Thank you sir. Do you have my schedule and locker number with you?” Emily took a seat at his desk while he rummaged through his drawers looking for her sheets for school. Dawn waited outside the office. That was when two students marched into the room. The air seemed to turn cold. It was the Raven twins, Jazz and Jase. Jase was a junior boy. He had dark hair that was unruly. He had on baggy black jeans and a black shirt that said ‘Bite Me’ in blood red letters. He was part of a vampire worshipping cult. Or that was the rumor. His left eyebrow was pierced and he had a tattoo on his right arm. It was a symbol of some sort. Dawn just thought of any demon that could pop out of his skin. Or maybe he was a demon. His sister wasn’t at all better. In fact, Jasmine, or Jazz as she like to be called, was the freakiest person you would probably meet. Her long black hair was stained with streaks of purple, red, blue, and green. It came down to her middle upper arm. Her clothes were similar to her brother’s, but she had tons of jewelry on. She had a studded collar on and tons of silver bracelets and rings. Her right nostril was pierced. Her right earlobe and ear cuff was pierced also. She had a silver chain going from the nose ring to the ear cuff and a separate one that went to the earlobe. She had tons of tattoos. But you couldn’t see them unless she stripped, which was why she was in there in the first place. She didn’t mind what others thought about her. It wasn’t like it was on her butt. Upper-inner thigh, but still! Jase was in the office because he had punched out another student. He didn’t take crap from anyone. He also but alcohol in the coffee in the teachers’ lounge so half of the teachers were giggling and passing out. They both looked up when they sensed Dawn staring at them. She quickly lowered her head. A few awkward minutes later, Emily emerged with a smiling Principal McCloud behind her. The twins saw her and knew they had gained a new soul to torture. They saw how she basically hung on every word that he said, afraid that if she missed a word the world would stop. Dawn stood up and waited for Emily to walk over to her. The principal had to take a private phone call and said he would deal with the Ravens later. Emily didn’t know what he meant at the moment, but she would. She was now standing sideways. Everyone could see the huge smile that plastered her face. After 100 years of practice, the little faces she learned were deadly.
“…and that is all I have for you right now. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.” The twins looked at the new girl as he bid farewell to her. They noticed she hadn’t spoken yet. When he left, his secretary went to get a drink. When she was sure everyone important was out of earshot she let it out.
“Bastard. God, don’t you people know the meaning of TIC TAC? I swear, one more word and I would have ripped his throat out!” The twins noticed she had a very light English accent. That made her even more pleasing and that fact that she hated the Principal boosted her on the list. “You ready Dawn. I just want this day to be over with.” Dawn smiled and walked out. Emily slowed walking when she passed the twins. The looked at her expectantly. Instead of the degrading stares they usually got, her eyes held the look of respect and understanding. It shocked them to no end. She smirked and went her own way right when Principal McCloud came out. “RAVENS!” They twins grinned and prepared themselves for the speech they had memorized since the second grade.
Emily walked into her first class-World History. <This should be fun>
“Class, we have a new student.” Everyone, including Dawn, had taken their seats and looked (girls were glaring with jealousy and the guys were gaping with eyes bulging out and jaws dangling on the floor) at the new girl.
“Her name is Emily Edwards and she is originally from England. Is that right my dear?” Emily saw this as an opportunity to swoon the guys.
“Yes it is.” The guys melted on the spot. She had mostly lost her English accent, but had a little bit of it in her.
“Then you should do very well in this class. We are just starting on the history of England in the late 1800’s.” Dawn and Emily smiled at each other. Of course Emily would do well. She was born in the mid 1800’s. 1865 to be exact! “Why don’t you take a seat by Miss Summers. I understand you two know each other very well.” They both smiled. Yeah, we’ve saved the world together, her sister is the vampire slayer who has died twice and my brother is one of the most feared vampires on the earth. My sister is the queen of the vampires and Lord of the Gods. Oh, did I mention I’m 137 years old? Yeah, and her sister and my brother are lovers. I’m a vampire on redemption so I can now walk in the sunlight and I’m immortal. She’s the key and a Hell Goddess came after her and cut her up and that’s how her sister died the second time. My cousin is here also, but she isn’t in your class. She’s also a vampire.
“Yes, we do. Thank you Mrs. Barnhart.” Emily walked over to Dawn and they both shared a secret smile and looked forward to the front of the class. The rest of the class went to the same way. Emily’s locker was also next to Dawn’s. They had the exact same classes. Most of the students shrugged it off as coincidence, everyone except the Raven Twins. They knew something was up, but brushed it off. That was when Emily and Dawn were met by their best friend from yesterday.
“Well, lookie here. Where’s your gothic bodyguard now Dawn?” Emily turned around and smiled sweetly at Kristy, who turned pale.
“I’m not gothic, I’m not a bodyguard. I’m just a pain in the ass to anyone who doesn’t like me.” Everyone had to laugh at that.
“Well, you won’t be a pain in the ass to me. I’m moving to a private boarding school in L.A. It’s called ‘Hilltop Boarding School for the Best’ I am leaving!” Emily just laughed.
“I loved that school. When you get there, tell-Jason, Michael, Doug, Eric, Aaron, Joseph, Chris, Mark, Will, Bill, Josh-oh just tell every guy you meet that I said hello. It’s an awesome place. The guys there are very cute. But boy is it tough; I barely kept my 4.0 there. They said it’s the hardest school in the state, even the west coast. Good luck!”
Kristy just stared at Emily. Then she started to get very angry.
“You little…”
//////////////////////////////////////
Kate Edwards got out of her Porsche and looked around. She was 139. She was going to be in 12th grade in a high school that was on top of a Hellmouth. Her life was just peachy. She clothes were rather nice. She had on black dress pants and a deep purple shirt. It was sleeveless and she had on a black coat on over it. Her hair was in two French braids. She had on diamond earrings and a diamond necklace. She had gotten here a lot earlier than Emily and Dawn. Dawn said there were some very cute Senior Boys here. When she walked in, she walked straight to the office to get her things. When she came out, she felt her cousin drawing closer to the school. She was probably at the Magic Box getting Xander to hand over Dawn. She smiled faintly. He was just like William and Emily. Way too overprotective. When she turned around she got the shock of her un-life.
“Leah?” Her blonde haired cousin turned around to face her. Her clothes were neat and crisp. She had on a skirt that went to her calf. It was black. Her top was a blue and silver leopard print. All in all, she looked VERY nice.
“Hello Kate. Did you get all your things? I will show you your locker if you want. We can catch up then.” Kate nodded numbly and walked out of the office with her older cousin. “Well?”
Leah just smiled.
“I needed a job. When I came to enroll you into school, they said they needed a new vice-principal. I thought I could use the money.” Kate just stopped suddenly.
“Money-we have PLENTY of money. You are just going to embarrass us! My life as a senior is officially ruined.” Leah laughed.
“William is the new English Literature for the 10th and 12th grades. Emily, Dawn, and you have him. You have him fifth; the others have him second. Here’s your locker. You’ll do fine Kate. I have to go. Love you.” Kate stared after cousin and shook her head sadly. When she closed her locked door, a face appeared in place of it. Kate just raised her eyebrows. The VERY cute guy just smiled. He held out his hand.
“Hi. I’m Jordan. You’re new here right?” Kate smiled and shook his hand.
“Am I that obvious?” Jordan laughed.
“No. I’ve been around long enough to point these things out. Need a tour?”
“Sure, why not?” Jordan offered his arm and she took it. He led her around the school. He pointed out all the senior classes and the lunchroom, the gym, and the pool. When they returned to the main hallway, they saw students crowded around three girls. Unfortunately, Kate knew two of them.
“Oh boy.” Kate looked to Jordan who was shaking his head. “I pity those two girls. Kristy can be a real bitch sometimes.” Kate just smiled.
“I have a feeling they won’t bother her much.” Kate had just spotted her cousin Leah rolling her eyes. She had obviously seen the fight coming from a mile away.
That’s when her ears picked up on the conversation.
“You little…”
Kristy took a big swing at the two girls, preparing to hit them both, but she was stopped by a firm arm holding it away from the girls. It was a blonde woman followed by the principal. He was just shaking his head who prepared to talk.
“Kristy, I expected so much more from you. Oh well, I guess this is as good as anytime to introduce you.” He nodded to Leah who let go of the girl’s arm. She looked at the other sophomore girls and smiled. Emily put on the best pouty face and rolled her eyes. This was going to be a nightmare.
“This is the new vice principal-her name is Leah Edwards.” He nodded to Leah again. She smiled.
“And you must the famous Kristy I’ve heard so much about. I would please ask that you not hit my sister Emily or my friend Dawn. It doesn’t go well with me.” Leah smiled at the girl and walked off towards Kate. Her eyes went wide when she started talking in her mind.
//Does he know that your my little cousin//
//NO-and it will stay like that. I will not…//
“Keep an eye on your cousin for me. She is bound to be in more trouble today. Hello Jordan.” Leah walked off and left a fuming Kate and a confused Jordan behind her. Finally one of them broke the silence.
“Cousin-you are her cousin? Doesn’t that make the new Vice your…”
“Other cousin-yes, it does. And the new English Lit teacher is my other cousin. Sorry, but the cousin call waits. You can come with me if you want to.” Kate walked over to the stunned teens and snapped her fingers in front of their faces.
“Emily? Dawn? Wake up girls, we haven’t got all day. You have to go to second period where Mr. William Edwards will be teaching you English Lit. See ya around girlies!” That snapped them out of it.
“William, as in MY BROTHER!”
////////////////////////////////////////
“Yes-that William! What other William do we know? Now hurry along before you’re late!” Both the dumbstruck girls hurried off to their second class of the day. What they met surprised them to no end. Spike had his hair turned back to his normal brown. It was spike up. His eyes were still blue his clothes amazingly weren’t black. He had on Navy dress pants and a Silver shirt. He looked NICE.
“Hello girls, why don’t you two take a seat.” William smiled at the girls’ surprised expressions.
“William! What did you do to your hair!” Emily hissed at him. He just smiled that cheeky little grin.
“I did a spell to take the dye out. It comes back at nine o’clock at night unless I don’t want it to. Now run along. I don’t want to have to give a detention the first day of school.” They girls gaped at him. The rest of the class started piling in. The rest of the girls sat down and dreamily stared at the new teacher when he spoke. He had the most adorable accent in the world.
“Hello Class. My name is William Edwards.”
Emily sighed in relief. <So far so good>
“Yes I am Emily Edwards’ brother.”
<Damn it>
“No it doesn’t mean she gets off easy.”
<Just Peachy>
“She’s had me as a teacher before.”
<I should write a book-Hell with Your Brother 101>
Emily didn’t realize it but she was sending all off her thoughts to Kate, Leah, and William. Kate just blocked her out. Leah knew that William was probably giving the ‘Hello class. Welcome to Hell’ speech. William was about to ring her neck.
“In fact, I am everything but easy. In this class, you will learn with great detail the full extent of English Literature and how it compares with the current English and American Literature. You will have to memorize poems, do literary analysis, a few book reports, and a major research paper. Welcome to Wonderful World of Mr. Edwards’ English Lit Class, otherwise known as Hell itself.” At the last comment, al tension broke and cheers rang out of the classroom. Emily and Dawn saw the familiar ‘Spike smirk.’
“Settle down. I only have three major rules. Number one: follow all rules. Number two: don’t break any of the rules…” The class held their breath for what was to come.
“…and Number three: always have fun.”
Dawn glared at Spike while the rest of the class cheered again. Yup. It was going to be an interesting year.
///////////////////////////////////
Lunch was crazy for Emily and Dawn. Word had gotten out that Emily was the new English Lit teacher’s sister. So if you wanted it good with the teacher, you needed to suck up to his little sister. Same went with the new Vice. Needless to say that was why lunch was nuts. Everyone girl wanted to know about ‘The new Professor’ and they guys wanted to know about Emily or VP Edwards. (VP-Vice Principal) A particular girl and her goonies, as Dawn nicely called them, hovered around them and shooed everyone who dared get too close to the new populars.
Kate’s lunch was somewhat better. Jordan Travis, her tour guide of the day, was very cute. His hair was brown with blonde streaks. He wore a pair of jeans and a nice t-shirt. He seemed really taken with her.
“Hey, I don’t know if you’ve heard about it or not, but there is this place called the Bronze, it’s sorta like this dance club. Do you think you would be willing to go with someone?” Kate smiled.
“If the person would ask me I would say yes.” Jordan smiled that adorable little smile.
“Dearest Katherine, you would please give me the honors of escorting you to the Bronze.” Kate slapped her head with her hand.
“I can’t.”
Jordan rolled his eyes. “There goes that approach.” Kate just grinned.
“I have to work tonight, but after I get off, I will try to come and see you. Okay?” Jordan smiled.
“That’ll work.”
“Great. Hey what do you have next period?”
Jordan looked at his schedule. “English Lit, why?” Kate groaned.
“I need someone to drag me outta there when my terribly annoying cousin kills me with embarrassment.” Jordan laughed outright at that comment.
“You’ll be fine. I heard he was tough,” Kate snorted “but that he was a lot of fun too.” Kate got up and brushed off her clothes and smiled down at the senior boy.
“That is understatement of the century if I ever heard it.”
////////////////////////////////////////////
School had gone pretty good for the first day. Emily and Dawn had a ton of new, ‘followers’ I guess you could say. Kate had already gotten a lot of new friends, including Jordan. The new teachers and vice principals didn’t help, but all in all, it was alright. Emily and Dawn finally got away from their fan-clubbers but were met by Kate at their car.
“Remember, we have work tonight.” Emily groaned.
“Why do we have to start tonight? I was going to meet up with some friends at the Bronze.” Kate just smiled.
“You can do it after your shift. I wanted to meet with Jordan so tough luck.”
“Oooh, Jordan eh? So that’s why you’re so perky.” Emily nodded her head acknowledging.
“But you have the other cutest guy after you. His name is Sean and he is major hottie material. The way he was sporting looks at you, prepare for some smoochies in the near future.” Emily rolled her eyes the whole time Dawn was speaking. Kate grinned.
“Whatever you two do, just be at work by five. I wanna get done early so I can meet up with Jordan and the crew.”
“Yes mother.” Emily and Dawn got in the car and drove off. So did Kate.
//////////////////////////////
“Dude, it is sooo sweet. Whoever got this baby is down!” William rolled his eyes at the bums who were checking out his car. It wasn’t that nice! It was just a new Firebird. So what? Kids really needed to get out of the house sometimes. That’s when he got a devil grin on his face. He waited until the right moment when they were…”
<BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP>
The kids all jumped back when the car alarm went off. William stepped out from behind the tree he was hiding behind and started laughing. He quickly turned off the alarm. The teens gaped at him. He rolled his eyes.
“What? Can’t a teacher have a little fun once in a while?”

When Jordan arrived at the door of the Bronze he blindly handed the money to one of the two bouncers at the door. That’s when a familiar voice perked up.
“What, I don’t even get a ‘hello’?” Jordan turned away from his conversation and looked at Kate.
“Kate? I thought you said you had to work.” She just smirked.
“I do and I am. I’m one of the new bouncers for the Bronze.” That’s when he decided to take in her appearance. She had on black pants and a black top. It was studded with diamonds and laced up along the hems showing her skin. The shirt stopped at her elbows. That’s when he noticed her muscles. She had a lot. She didn’t look all that threatening. The other bouncer, Charlie, had been taking money and guarding the door the whole time when Kate turned back to the door. Just as a boy their age stepped up the door she got off her of stool and blocked his path with her arm.
“And where do you think you’re going?” The boy glared at her annoyingly.
“In the club, is that alright?” Kate smiled.
“It will be if you take that Heroine out of your back pocket. If you don’t then I will. Either way it’s coming out-you decide.” The boy glared at her and left. Kate took a mental note with Emily.
//There is a boy about 6’2 coming your way. He’s got heroine on him so watch it. Get a track on him if you can//
//Yes mother// Kate rolled her eyes.
//Take this seriously will you//
//Who said I wasn’t taking this job seriously. I am taking it very seriously. Even gotten a few people pissed off at me too. Which reminds me, you didn’t let those goonies in did you//
Kate frowned. //What goonies//
//The ones with the gang symbol all over their clothes. They got hacked off because I wouldn’t let them in. Well, duh, you got guns on ya so ya can’t go in// Kate’s eyes widened.
//They never came this way Em//
//Oh sh-//
<BANG BANG>
Kate raced off into the club to find the whole dance floor clear except for a guy holding a girl with her back to his chest and a gun to her head. Kate skidded into the deserted space and held up her hands in surrender.
“Come on, just let the girl go.” The captor swayed threateningly and sneered.
“Yeah right bitch. Like I fucking want to.” As if trying to prove a point, he held the gun closer and shook the girl. Emily rushed in and stopped in the crowd behind Kate.
//I knew they wouldn’t give up that easily//
//Yeah well we got to get her outta there somehow//
//You go on the right and distract the guy and I’ll get the girl’s attention. When I yank her out of his arms get him. I’ll get the rest of goonies. Just get him taken care of. He’s the only one with a gun. And you’re heroine guy is in his personal cell as we speak// Kate just widened her eyes in amazement. Normally she would be picking up her jaw of the floor, but that would look suspicious with all these people around. Which brought her back to the current situation.
//Gotcha// Kate started walking off the right while the unsuspected Emily walk to his left. She got the girl’s attention and gently held out her hand. When the gun was away from her head, Emily yanked the girl out of his grasp.
“What the…” He didn’t have time to curse, because he was being pounded. Kate gracefully kicked the gun out of his hand which went clattering to the side of the room where Charlie picked it up. Next, she hit his nose with her palm, which made a satisfying crunch. He started to fight back. More like swing his arms blindly. He dropped his arm making it easy on Kate to predict his next move. When his fist went flying, she grabbed it, crushing the bones in the process, (she didn’t mean to, she just got caught up in the moment) and flipped him onto his back. She flipped him to where he had both arms behind his back and they were soon handcuffed.
Emily had done well also. Along with the captor, there were two more teens. They had run for the exit the moment Kate started fighting. <Smart> thought Emily. She went flying through the crowds also trying to beat them to the exit. She noticed out of the corner of her eye that Kate had gotten the captor restrained. Emily pushed harder and pulled out a gun from her jacket. She saw where they were going. Behind the crowds, there was an emergency door and they were going to break for it. But, she beat them to it. She slid in front of the door and turned around. The two teens turned on their heels and started running. That’s when they heard the click of a barrel of a gun and the most frightening words. They slowly turned around.
“Freeze! Put your hands above your head and get down on the floor.” When they didn’t move, Emily sneered. “You know, if speed kills, you would live forever? You wanna test my patience. Go ahead. If this is your lucky day, try it because my trigger finger is feeling pretty lucky right about now.” Both teens slowly put their hands on their head and got down on the floor. When one of them tried to look around, Emily walked up to him and glared.
“When I said get down, I meant…”
<THUD>
“…get down.” The boy now had a hefty shoe print in the back of his back. He didn’t bother moving because he couldn’t breathe in the first place. Damn she had muscles. Police had started piling in. The chief started to walk towards the boys that were all lined on the floor. Kate walked up to him and looked down at the boys.
“Failure to obey authority, sporting weapons in a public club, assault, fighting against an officer and failure to obey direct orders from an officer. I think these boys have it bad.” The chief stared at the girl.
“Excuse me Miss, but you aren’t supposed to be in here. All civilians are to report their address and phone number to a nearby police officer so we can use witnesses.” Emily had joined the two but when she opened her mouth it was closed by the amused look on Kate’s face. The officer started to escort both of the girls out the door where all the people from the club were gathered. He stepped up onto a nearby platform with the two girls and willed everyone quiet down. “Now, when I point to you call out your name and address please.”
//Oh this is going to be fun//
//Yeah remind to thank Angel//
The officer pointed to Kate. Everyone got quiet so the officer could hear. She just smiled and held out a badge.
“Special Agent Kate Edwards of the Drug and Crime Labs of the LAPD and AI Law Enforcement agencies of Los Angeles California.” The policemen stared at the girls. Emily joined in.
“ If you want our addresses for witnessing, I’m afraid you will have to take it up with Major Richardson of the FBI. He doesn’t like us willingly going out to testify without his okay.” She also held out a badge. The chief stared at it and took it in his hand. Emily and the police chief talked silently while Kate just stared at them. After about four minutes, the officer sighed.
“I don’t believe it.”
Meanwhile, Jordan stood gaping at Kate. Not because she was in the police force, but because she hadn’t take a breath for the last ten minutes.
////////////////////////////////////////////
<Come on, breathe for me> Kate finally took a breath to let out a sigh. Jordan checked his watch. <18 minutes without a breath and she’s still here> He sighed.
“What are you?” He whispered. He watched as Kate whipped her head around and her eyes fell on him. His brown creased in confusion. She couldn’t have heard him. Her eyes became wide and he hand flew up to her chest over heart. She quickly turned to the police chief and Emily. They talked for a few seconds and then she turned and started down the platform.
<Shit. She’s coming for me> Her eyes were darting after him wildly. He ran down an alley far away from the Bronze.
“Jordan!” He stopped. He knew from witnessing her earlier that he couldn’t outrun her.
“Jordan, please wait. I can explain ev…”
“Explain that you didn’t take a breath for 20 minutes? How did you hear me? What are you?” As Kate opened her mouth to talk, she was kicked thirty feet into a nearby brick wall. She just got up and rubbed her neck. That would have killed a normal person. Jordan stared wide eyed as ten men with distorted faces stepped out of the shadows. Kate walked to the center of the alley and the ten men surrounded her.
“You bitch. You deserted your own kind. You are a pathetic excuse for a vampire.”
Jordan’s eyes went wide. <VAMPIRE>
“Excuse me. I deserted my own kind over sixty years ago. So not an issue right now.”
The leader had been circling her and snarled. She just smirked.
“You trying to scare me little boy? It isn’t working. It takes a lot to scare me.” A big demon covered in green and blue slime stepped out of the shadows carrying an equally big sword. Kate raised her eyebrows. “Still waiting” The vampire lunged at her. She responded with a swift blow to the stomach and she snapped his neck. At that, the rest of the vampires started to get their piece of the girl in front of them. One by one, the vampires turned to dust. Jordan was hiding in the shadows. The demon had hit Kate and she hit the rock wall again. He rushed out to help her. That’s when he felt a strong hand grip his throat. The vampire started to whisper in his ear.
“Don’t worry. You’ll see her in hell soon.” Then he was dropped to the ground not so gently. A ticked Emily stood above him dusting herself off. He stood up and was about to say thanks when the little fifteen year old had him two feet off of the ground by his throat.
“Pull a stunt like that again and next time I might let them kill you. She doesn’t need you to go play heroics. We can’t fight and play nanny at the same time.” She promptly dropped him on the ground and he looked up in her eyes. He wanted to run away and hide for the rest of his life. Her eyes were so cold.
“Emily, a little HELP HERE!” Emily rushed off to her help her cousin. A dozen vampires stood in her way. She groaned.
“Come on! I don’t need this now!” Two of them lunged at her. She staked one and went on to the other. Jordan watched with fascination as they disappeared into nothing. He looked up at Kate in time to see her meet the end of the sword. It went straight through her gut. The demon laughed and held his arms up in victory. It was short lived.
“Damn demons.” Kate grabbed the hilt of the sword and pulled it out of her stomach and quickly beheaded the demon. Emily finished off the vampires and waited for Kate to come over the where she was now standing. Kate looked up at Jordan who was about to faint. She closed her eyes and yelled in frustration.
“DAMN IT!”
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Kate punched the wall leaving a huge hole. Jordan jumped about twenty feet in the air which made Emily snicker.
“Did I hear that guy say that you are a vampire?” Emily’s head whipped around to face Kate. She just glared right back.
“Yes you did Jordan.” If possible, Jordan paled even more. Emily just smirked.
“If you wouldn’t mind, I’m hungry and I’m tired. Can we please continue this charade at home?” Kate sighed and nodded. Jordan was still staring ahead and so she grabbed his arm and started dragging him.
“OW!” Kate smiled sheepishly.
“Sorry, sometimes I don’t know my own strength.”
“Children, come along now.” Jordan jumped another twenty feet in the air when Kate growled.
“You growled.” Emily rolled her eyes.
“Yes, yes, yes. We do that sometimes. Can we go now?” She started dragging the dazed Jordan to the house. Emily and Dawn shared Dawn’s room while Kate and Leah got Buffy’s room. When they entered the house, you could hear talking in the kitchen. Leah heard the girls come in and started walking out towards the living room.
“I heard there was a clan of…” She trailed off when she spotted a pale Jordan sitting on the couch staring at her. Who wouldn’t? She was wearing black leather pants, hiking boots, and a jade green halter top. And this was their vice principal. She glared at Emily.
“Hey, it wasn’t me this time. Somebody else forgot to breathe and then another someone else noticed. I did my part thank you very much.” Leah plopped down on the couch and sighed.
“Spike!” Jordan became confused.
“Spike? Who’s Spike?” Emily turned to him and smiled.
“You’ll see.”
A man dressed in black jeans, a black shirt, and a leather duster came walking out of the kitchen. He had bright white hair. That’s when Jordan noticed the face. It was Mr. Edwards.
“What, I’m kinda busy right now, so if…oh bloody hell!”
He glared at Emily.
“WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK I DID IT?”
“Because you usually do.” Jordan turned around to see Dawn Summers walking down the stairs. “So, what happened this time? Anything happen at the Bronze while I WAS STUDYING MY HEAD OFF?!” She yelled the last part to the kitchen. Kate smiled.
“There was a stand-off between me and some druggies.”
Dawn dropped her arms to her side in exasperation. “Now something happens.”
Spike leaned against the door post leading to the kitchen. “Have you told him yet?”
Kate’s face dropped. “No I haven’t.”
“Tell me what?” Emily smirked.
“That we are 140 year old master vampires who gained out humanity and now we’re completely immortal.” Jordan jumped off the couch when everyone in the room except Dawn growled.
“You did it again.”
Spike looked annoyed. “Did what?”
“GROWLED!” Emily rolled her eyes.
“We’ve been over this. Me vampire-I growl.” Dawn came all the way downstairs and sat in Jordan’s place between Kate and Emily.
“Just wait ‘til you go game face.” Emily smiled, but Spike beat her to it. He went and stood behind Jordan and tapped his shoulder. He went game face when Jordan turned around.
“Wh-what w-w-was t-th-that?” Shay walked up beside Jordan and put her arm around him making him jump even more.
“That, my dear boy, is a vampire.” She nodded to Spike who shook his head and his normal face returned. “We can all do it, except Dawn. She’s not a vampire. But her sister is the Vampire Slayer.” Buffy appeared behind them and smiled.
“You might want to sit him down. I think he’s going to pass out soon. Thanks for letting it out easy.” Jordan sat down in a chair.
“Vampires?” They nodded.
“Slayers?” Again, they nodded.
“GOOD GOD!” He sank back in the chair. “TOOK YA LONG ENOUGH!” Jordan pulled out a cell phone and dialed a number.
“Yeah, Cordelia, let me talk to Angel.” He looked up and saw everyone in the room gaping at him. “Angel, it’s Jordan. Yeah, send Kimberly down. I got it covered. Yeah, no they weren’t subtle about it. No it wasn’t Emily.” Emily rolled her eyes. “Yeah, just send Kimmy down…I know she doesn’t like being called that, that’s the reason I do it…Ok yeah see ya.” Jordan held out the phone for Leah and smirked. “Angel wants to talk to you.” Leah growled and took it and stalked out of the room.
“YOU KNEW?” Emily shrieked. He just rolled his eyes.
“My sister works for him. She’s professional demon hunter. I was actually keeping an eye on you by request of Angel. Oh, and Sean is my little brother. He knows also.” Emily’s mouth hung wide open. She stood up and Kate followed.
“Where do you two think you are going?” Spike asked. Emily whirled around.
“I need to kill something.”
/////////////////////////////
Then next day, Sean walked up to Emily’s locker. Remember about last night and wondered if Jordan had told his brother about the secret of them knowing. She decided to play around.
“Hi Sean.” He smiled.
“Hey Emily. I was wond…” Dawn came bounding up and saw the Emily wiggled her eyebrows at her and saw that Sean was there. Hey, she could take a hint.
“Buffy wants to know if you can help her and Akasha take out the horde of Shashna demons tonight after work.” Emily smiled.
“Sure, as long as Kate and Spike can come with me.” Sean’s mouth dropped open. “Jordan caught us last night and told us about you and your family. Thought I might as well do something I’m accused of all the time. It’s weird, long story, you can ask Jordan. And God I’m babbling I hate it when I do that. Totally takes away the ‘I’m a 137 year old master vampire who wants to suck your blood’ thing.” Sean just gaped. He finally closed his mouth. Emily raised her eyebrows. And then she did something she didn’t even think she could.
She kissed him.
It was just a peck, but still. And if it was still possible, Sean’s eyebrows reached his hairline.
“See ya around Sean.” Emily walked off with Dawn and got in their car to leave.
This was the last thought going through Sean’s mind: <I SO need to work on the family communication thing>
//////////////////////////////////////
The first thought that went through Emily’s mind was ‘WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST DO?’
Dawn noticed the far out look on Emily’s face and waved her hand in front of her face.
“Emily, you-who, earth to Emily.” Emily snapped out of her reverie and smiled.
“That’s really annoying, you know!”
“Tell me about England.” Dawn quipped.
Emily stared at her in shock. “Where in the world did that come from?”
“I just wanna know about the place you come from. It sounds really cool.”
“You talk way too much.” Emily closed her locker and started to walk to sixth period Chemistry.
“Do you ever miss it?”
Emily smirked. “Your talking? That’s a definite ‘no’.”
Dawn rolled her eyes. “No, England. It was your home.” Emily turned to face Dawn.
“I do miss it sometimes. I miss my house, and I miss the school I never got to finish. I miss my old life, or at least the first fourteen years of it. But I have all you now. I have my family with little extra additions. I’m fine.” She smiled reassuringly and they both walked off.
William walked out of his classroom smiling. As the rest of the class filed in, he went back inside the classroom.
“Good Afternoon class. Pop-quiz today…”
The groans could be heard from a mile away.
////////////////////////////////
3 months later-October 29th
Dawn and Emily were rummaging through rows and rows of clothes for the Halloween dance on the 31st.
“I don’t know about it though. I thought you were going to go for him. He just seemed right for you.” Emily rolled her eyes.
“After three months you can’t even take a hint. He was totally going after you. I told him that I wasn’t interested.”
Dawn held out a costume and at Emily’s disgusted look, she laughed and put it back on the rack. Three months after school started and everything in Dawn’s life was finally right. Spike and Buffy were getting along great and she had hints of future kissage-make that definite future kissage. She and Emily had their own little fan club and were dibbed the most popular girls in school. Kate had been going out with Jordan for the last three months. His sister, Kimberly, had come down and were best friends with them. She had short and curly blonde hair that was ALWAYS in a ponytail. She had perfect complexion. During the day she wore the short skirts and high boots like Emily and night was the leather-clad demon hunter. She was REALLY good.
“What about this one?” Dawn laughed out loud at the costume Emily held out. It was Demon costume. And it looked like a fluffy bunny.
“Hey, do you have to work Friday night for Halloween?” The secret of Emily and Kate’s job for the LAPD and AI (Angel Investigations) wasn’t a secret for long. You didn’t want to fight with them-physical or verbal. Kate was harsh but Emily was brutal.
“Nope. I am officially free on Friday night. So is everyone else. Leah got the demons to cool it down. No attacks and no rituals.” They continued to look for a costume for Dawn. That’s when they found it. The tie-dye shirt and worn and torn jeans were perfect. She also had a tan belt and purple sunglasses. She looked awesome. They rented the costume and walked out.
“What are you going as Emily?” She looked at Dawn and smiled slyly.
“You will just have to see. All I can say is that my social status and reputation is definitely going to change.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////
2 Days Later
///////////////////////////////
The dance music was pumped up and everyone was in costume. Dawn walked in alone, which was a big surprise to her friends. The third in command of the group, Cassidy, was surrounded by guys. She was pretty and popular. Dawn walked up to her and sighed. The only reason the guys were around her was to get to Emily and Dawn. As soon as Dawn walked up in her 70’s costume, the guys decided Cassidy was old news and fawned over Dawn. She still didn’t know what Emily’s costume was, or anyone else’s for that matter. She said that the whole family was going as the same thing. What it was she had no idea.
She noticed that the Raven twins were also there. They looked just like they always did. Black, black and more black. They were whispering to each other, but she couldn’t hear anything they were saying.
Jazz turned to Jase. “There is nothing going on. Let’s go terrorize something.”
Jase looked at his sister and sighed. “All right.”
Dawn narrowed her eyes at the twins and sighed. That’s when Buffy walked up to her.
“Hey Buff.”
“Hey Dawnie.” Buffy was dressed as a gypsy. She had on all the layers of clothing needed to hide stakes and Holy Water, even though no demons were supposed to be out tonight. Buffy had become a teacher of physical education and gym class. When everyone saw who was teaching the class, they all started laughing. Dawn remembered it SO well.
~*Ah yes, another cheesy flashback*~
Everyone walked into 3rd period gym class. Dawn and Emily looked up to find Buffy, of all people, standing in the gym teacher’s office. She looked up and saw them and smiled. When she walked out she started talking.
“Good morning class. My name is Miss Summers. Otherwise known as Dawn’s annoying big sister. I will be teaching this class for now on. We will fight, spar, exercise, and do drills, etc. etc.” Emily looked up to find Buffy staring right at her with a smug look on her face.
“Now I know because of my size, you wouldn’t think that I can fight.” Emily raised her eyebrows.
“So why don’t I show you. Who in here think they can take me?” No one raised their hands. A boy in their 7th period yearbook class stared at Emily. She just shrugged.
“There is NO way I’m getting my ass kicked in front of all you people.” She crossed her arms and dared anyone to disagree. Buffy sighed. When she turned around Emily charged. She flipped over Buffy and got in a fighting stance. Buffy did the same.
“Knew you were lying.”
Emily scoffed. “You so did not. I took you totally by surprise.” They were circling each other now. Buffy made the first move. She spun around and sent a kick in Emily’s direction. She easily blocked and sent a punch towards Buffy’s head, which almost hit her. This continued for a few minutes. Everyone could clearly see that the new teacher could hold herself pretty well. When they finished, they were both out of breath and panting.
“That was an example of what you will learn. I hope that this will be a FUN class for you all. Now pair up and start trying to throw punches. I’ll go around and help coaching.”
~*End the horrible torture*~
“EMILY?” Cassidy’s screeching brought Dawn back to the present. She rolled her eyes when she saw Emily’s costume. It was herself…
…as the vampire.
Complete with hairstyles, clothing, and even the extra-special cocky attitude.
She had on bright silver pants and a black strap-less tube top. She had silver lipstick with black lines in it. Her eye-shadow was a deep color, almost black. She had on black eye-liner and had her eyebrow pierced. On her neck was a black leather…collar?!...with silver studs on them. She had on a leather jacket and her hair was put up into the familiar twin buns. Streaks of it were dyed silver. There was a cigarette hanging out of her fingers. She smirked.
Jase saw Emily and his jaw hung open. He jerked Jazz out of her conversation with some guy and turned her face to Emily.
“That enough action for tonight?”
Emily smirked at the teens who were gaping at her.
“So, what’s up guys?”
Dawn rolled her eyes when she saw Kate come up behind Emily. She was dressed in black vinyl pants and a black spaghetti strap top. Her eye shadow was a deep green and outlined in black. Her lipstick was pure black. She had an arm ring on her right arm that clasped together with a silver skull. Her hair was parted down the middle and was French braided into two parts.
“Hey, I’m gonna go check up with Jordan. We have that party tonight at LA that we have to go to ya know. Oh, and don’t you think this would be a good time to get the Bird’s attention?”
Bingo.
Dawn now knew why they went ‘vampire’ with their costumes.
The Birds were the girls’ code names for the Raven twins. Rumor was that Jazz was a witch. If she was a witch, then Emily and Shay wanted to know about it. Jase was rumored to be in a vampire worshipping cult. When Emily told Spike and Buffy this, they just laughed. They had yet to tell why they did it. But, Jase was not in a cult. He just liked vampires a lot.
Emily smiled and looked over at the twins who were looking at her curiously.
<Time for some fun>
She turned back to her groupies and rolled her eyes. With the exception of Dawn, everyone looked either revolted or amazed.
“Let me guess, you guys didn’t think we owned more than mini-skirts and go-go boots.”
Kate smiled when Emily’s question went unanswered.
“You think we look bad, you should see her brother. He looks like he got stuck in the 80’s.”
“I’m hurt to hear you say that, pet.” If there wasn’t so much music you could have heard every girl sigh and swoon. Dawn just rolled her eyes. AGAIN.
There was, not William Edwards, but Spike. William the Bloody. Complete with bleached hair and leather duster. He had conveniently lit a cigarette and it was casually leaning out of the side of his mouth. He gave the sexiest grin he could muster up to the local girls and more sighs could be heard. Then Leah walked up…
…in leather pants and a revealing halter top. And boy did she look good. The glares from the boys that had been fixed on Spike were now drools fixed on Leah. She grabbed the cigarettes out of Spike’s hand and raised her -pierced- eyebrow.
“Herbals love, just herbals.” At Spike’s comment she smirked.
“Sure.” She took out two cigs and put one in her mouth and the other behind her left ear. She lit the one in her mouth up…
…right when Principal McCloud walked up behind her.
“Miss Edwards, I must advise you and ORDER you to extinguish that drug immediately!”
Leah raised her other eyebrow and shrugged. She smiled and placed her cig in Mr. McCloud’s coffee cup he was holding. Everyone gasped as she lit the other one from behind her ear and stalked off.
That’s when Emily saw her chance. She grabbed her discarded leather jacket and stalked off to the kitchen. Jase and Jazz noticed and followed. They also noticed when she took out the bottle of Scotch and opened the cap.
Emily started pouring the contents into the remaining bowls of punch. The twins just stared at her like she had grown a second head. When she finished pouring the liquor into the drinks, she knocked her head back and downed the rest of it. She threw the bottle over her shoulder where it hit the wall and smashed.
“Are you going to stare at me all day like that or are you going to say something?” Jase stepped out.
“I can’t believe you just did that.” He saw Emily take out another bottle, except it was a flask of beer. She uncapped it and rolled the rest of the bowls outside. When she got to the punch bowls, she switched the clean ones with the ones with the scotch. She stood in front of one of the bowls that were clean and carefully poured the beer into the bowl. When she finished she recapped the empty bottle and tucked it back into her coat. When she leaned against the table, Jase went to her left and Jazz to her right. Emily started to check her pockets but came up empty.
“Damn”
“What is it? You got more beer in there?” Jazz smirked and Jase raised his eyebrows.
“I’ve the rest of the beer in the car, I’m looking for a real fag, not those stupid herbals Spike had to bring.”
“Spike?” Emily rolled her eyes and sighed.
“Spike is a nickname for William. You don’t wanna know. Well, maybe you do but I’ll tell you later.” Jazz pulled out something out of her jacket. It was a pack of Marlboro’s. She handed it Emily and she smiled.
“You didn’t get them from me; these aren’t real, etc., etc.”
“And I don’t know where in the world I got these from because you don’t exist. Gotcha.”
As soon as she lit up, breathed in and smiled.
“Ah yes, life’s true nectar.” That’s when Cassidy walked up.
“Are you crazy? First you show up dressed like a… a… something and you disappear only to reappear with these two and you are smoking! You are breaking all the rules which I have established for the well-being of our click. Rule #3: No smoking, rule #8: No gothic dressing-NOT EVEN FOR PARTIES, rule #29: No hanging out with lower beings and finally rule #42: No…”
“Oh My God! You totally reminded me of my stupidity. I have three words that describe my thanks towards you.”
The twins shared a sideways glance.
“FUCK OFF BITCH!” Emily flipped her off and pushed her into the crowd that was dancing away.
“I saw that pet.”
Spike walked up to the teens and glared.
“You also could have used one of my BETTER scotches to put in the sour punch bowls. And also about that little show.”
The twins prepared themselves for life-detentions and major lectures.
“What about it?” Emily was grinning ear to ear.
“I think it’s fucking time somebody told her off.”
The twins stared in amazement.
“You’re n-not ma-mad at us-s?”
Spike smirked. “Try it again without the stutter.”
Jazz snapped her mouth shut.
“And no I’m not mad.”
“Spike, Kate and I wanna go to the party our boss is holding for us in LA. Can we go? It starts in about three hours.”
Spike eyed Emily suspiciously. “What time is it now?”
“10:30, oh and can Jazz and Jase come too? I’m sure they’d love to meet our bosses.” Spike rolled his eyes but nodded.
“Be back by 9 tomorrow night. And don’t go out of the country again. I don’t want to have to deal with all those Mexican police.” He walked off and Kate walked up.
“Did he say we could go?”
Emily smiled and nodded. “Even Jase and Jazz can come.”
Jase was gaping at her. “Did he say be back by nine TOMORROW?”
“Yes. He usually lets me go out later, but I guess since you two are coming then it has to be cut short.” She turned to Kate. “And we can’t leave the country either.” Kate’s face noticeably dropped. Jazz turned to Emily.
“Is there a story behind all this?”
Kate smiled.
“One year, I think it was two years ago, we went to Australia for a few days. It was sooo much fun. All we did was stay two days longer than we were supposed to.”
“They just let you do that? Disappear like that?” Kate smiled and Emily scoffed.
“They do it themselves. Anyway, we better leave if we wanna stop by the hotel.” All the while they had been walking, Jase stopped at those words.
“Hotel?”
“My ex-boyfriend owns a hotel. He has tons of stuff I wanna get to put on the market. I could hack half of his stuff and feed all of the third-world countries.” Kate smirked.
“He’s also one of our bosses. He is the head of AI, or Angel Investigations.” They walked outside of the gym and stopped in front of a black Toyota Sequoia. Jase, Jazz, and Kate got in and put on their seatbelts.
“This is a nice car Emily.”
Emily was leaning over under the dashboard when the car started up.
“Who said it was mine?”
The twins nervously looked at each other as they sped off.
Emily, Kate, Jase and Jazz had been driving along the deserted highway for about one hour before Emily took an exit. She went along winding roads and stopped.
The twins’ jaws dropped.
“You gave up this? WHY?”
They were staring at the Hyperion Hotel. And Goddess, was it huge. Emily looked back at them. She had never seen this thing but once, and she was practically running for her un-life. Angel didn’t even own in then. This was where she killed her 100th Elouch demon. She smiled at the memories and then remembered what Jase had asked.
“He didn’t even consider owning this while I was still with him.”
Emily crouched down at the door and started to pick the lock. The twins’ eyes widened when they saw what she was doing.
“What the hell are you doing? We could get arrested!” Kate laughed.
“Hello! We are the police. We work for the LAPD and AI. This building is the AI headquarters.”
There was a click and everyone saw Emily stand up with a smug look on her face.
Emily’s eyes widened when she saw the huge building’s inside.
“Angel, Angel, Angel. You certainly did well didn’t you?” Emily whispered.
“Welcome to AI and the Hyperion Hotel ladies and gentlemen. It took you long enough to get here.” Out of the shadows came a person the two girls hadn’t seen in a while.
“Faith?”
“The one and only. Drinks and smokes in the last door on the right up that stairway. Help yourself.” The last two statements were directed towards the raven haired twins. She had heard a lot about them. As soon as the left, Emily turned towards Faith.
“What are you doing here? I thought you were…”
Faith smirked.
“Let me tell you the real story.”
~* Ah yes. I love these NOT! *~
Faith picked up the letter from LA. It scared the hell out of her when she saw the address.
It was from the prison.
//////////////////////////////////
“Ah Yes. Miss Morgan. It has come to our attention that you are a real fighter. And that you also know some of our special agents, Emily Edwards and Kate Edwards, along with Angel of Angel Investigations. I hope that you will take this request to heart.”
A man in a black crisp suit regarded the young woman with a cautious eye. He motioned for her to sit. She was the best. And they needed her.
“Here is what we need. We need a trainer. It seems that many of our men have lost…a…sense of true police nature. They are slacking off. From what I have heard, you are a real fighter. Plus, to have someone who was convicted of a murder screaming at you, I think that will get the men straight.”
Faith was about to scream at the guy and rip his throat out about the murder part.
But she stopped.
Everyone knew that she had actually killed that man.
And yet this guy just said convicted. He didn’t say guilty.
Faith smiled.
“DEAL!”
~* All right, I’m done *~
////////////////////////////////////////
“Red did a charm on me. All memories of me coming back are erased. It obviously didn’t’ work real well on the vampires. By the way, do they…”
Kate shook her head.
“No they don’t know about us. And it will stay that way.” She said giving Faith a hard stare.
“Gotcha.”
<CRASH>
“Shit”
///////////////////////////////////////
Faith had to leave for an emergency meeting at the LAPD HQ so Emily ran upstairs before Kate got there and sighed.
Jase and Jazz were drunk. And smoking…
…Cuban cigars?
<Damn Angel>
Kate smiled when she ran upstairs. She started grabbing things from shelves and stuffed them into a pillowcase. Wine, beer, even a few artifacts here and there.
They would be rich when they got home.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
IMPORTANT: THERE IS SOME
As they drank, Emily wrote something down on a piece of paper and smiled. Evilly.
And it didn’t go unnoticed.
“So about, this ex., why did you guys break up?”
Emily smiled at Kate and then looked at Jazz.
“We broke up because of personality changes. We just weren’t the people we used to be when we originally got together.”
Kate wanted to laugh outright and beat the shit out of Emily for saying that. Oh well.
“FAITH? WE’RE BACK!”
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
“SHIT! That’s him, let’s go!” Kate led the teens out of the hotel and into a nearby parked car. It was a convertible that was black and sleek. Kate picked the lock and got into the driver’s seat. She hot-wired the car and drove around to the back entrance where Emily was coming out. She jumped into the front seat and that’s when Jase saw him.
“That HULK is your ex-he can kill us!”
Emily turned around.
“But then the guilt would kick in. And he doesn’t like that.”
Kate looked over to Emily. She could still hear the Toyota’s car horns go off, but she swore she heard it coming from inside the building.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Spike ran out of the house and confronted the teens.
“I just got a call from a pissed off Xander about you in LA. You could…have…bloody hell!” He started smiling.
“You didn’t!”
Emily leaned against the car.
“Angel will be missing his baby for a while.” Shay started laughing when she came out. Spike was already laughing like crazy.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
