CRUCIFIX. Buffyverse Term/Concept/Idea/Intratext.
A cross bearing an image of the crucified or resurrected Christ. Although the Christian tradition distinguishes between the terms “cross” and “crucifix,” this distinction has not filtered down into most of popular American culture. The language of Buffy uses the two terms interchangeably. For example, Willow nails a plain cross to her wall in “Passion,” yet worries about what her father will think about his daughter “nailing crucifixes to her bedroom wall.” A crucifix is clearly visible in the episode “Who Are You?” when a group of vampires enters a church and holds the congregation hostage.
