Buffy Scholar/Critic

Bron Bateman (Curtin University) is a PhD candidate in Communication and Cultural Studies at Curtin University. Her doctoral thesis, "Mama's Got a Nipple Ring" is an ethnographic exploration of the stories that mothers tell about their piercings, tattoos and other body modifications. Her first collection of poetry, People from bones (with co-writer Kelly Pilgrim), was published by Ragged Raven Press in 2002. Her academic interests include representations of the body, masculinities and gender theory, Gothic theory, creative production--and Buffy. She believes that Spike is all the proof she needs for the existence of a benevolent God.
