Buffy Scholar/Critic
Angie
Burns was a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Staffordshire University (UK)
until she retired in August 2005. Her research has focused on emotional and
sexual aspects of intimate relationships - desire, love, jealousy, infidelity.
Her approach has been feminist, discursive and transdisciplinary, drawing on
work in social psychology, sociology, literature studies, cultural studies and
women’s studies. Her PhD thesis (the Open University, UK) was entitled
‘Professions of Love: The discursive construction of love and romance in
intimate heterosexual relationships'. She has published papers on gender and
love in Psychology journals. From 2000 to 2006 she was an Associate Editor of
the international journal Feminism & Psychology.
Now
she has more time to write fiction (and Buffy
is a great model), travel and grow vegetables.
