Buffy Scholar/Critic

Dr. Jonathan Gray is an Assistant Professor of Communication and Media Studies.  He received his B.A. from University of British Columbia, Canada, and conducted his graduate work in England, with M.A.s from University of Leeds and Goldsmiths College, University of London, and Ph.D from University of London.

His research interests include audience studies, media entertainment (particularly TV and film) and the public sphere, international communication, parody and satire, and fandom and antifandom. He has published various journals, including International Journal of Cultural Studies, American Behavioral Scientist, and Critical Studies in Media Communication, and his first book, Watching the Simpsons: Television, Parody, and Intertextuality (Routledge, 2006).  Dr. Gray is originally from Canada, but has also lived in England, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and on both American coasts.  He is a member of the International Communication Association.
