Simone Knox is a third-year PhD student in the department of Film, Theatre and Television Studies at the University of Reading, England, and her supervisor is Dr Jonathan Bignell. In her thesis, provisionally entitled “Postmodernism and Popular Media Culture”, she focuses on the interconnections between postmodern theory and contemporary popular media texts (such as, but not limited to, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) with regards to issues including identity, reality, parody, gender and the question of value.
