Buffy Scholar/Critic
Trudi Van Dyke graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Anthropology from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey in 2001. As an undergraduate, she wrote a Humanities Honors thesis entitled “ ‘Sweetest Tongue Has Sharpest Tooth’: The Evolution of ‘Little Red Riding Hood,’ ” which explored various versions of the famous fairy tale. She completed her Masters of Arts degree in English in 2003, also at William Paterson University. Her Master’s thesis entitled “ ‘At Midnight Drain the Stream of Life’: Vampires and the New Woman,” examines vampires from a feminist perspective, focusing on Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu’s Carmilla, Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Currently, Trudi is pursuing a Masters of Library Science degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Trudi’s interests include folklore, fairy tales, Romantic, Victorian and Gothic literature, horror and suspense films, especially those by Hammer film studios, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. |
