BANGERS AND MASH. BtVS Intertext/Allusion.

Bangers and Mash (bangers ‘n’ mash) is a British comfort food dating to the 17th Century that remains a staple of both home and pub. It is a classic meat and potatoes meal consisting of mashed potatoes (mash) and sausage (bangers), and is often served with gravy made from onions sauteed in the sausage drippings.

Bangers and Mash is referenced in "Lessons," a Season Seven episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Willow is undergoing witch rehabilitation in England and is talking with Giles about the lessons she has learned from the coven that is helping her.

GILES: You sound like Miss Hartness.

WILLOW: She’s taught me a lot.

GILES: Then why aren’t you in your lesson?

WILLOW: Sorry.

GILES: It’s alright. She was just –

WILLOW: -- afraid. Yeah, they all are. The coven in – they’re the most amazing women I’ve every met. But there’s this look that they get. Like I’m gonna turn them into bangers and mash or something. Which I’m not even really sure what that is.
