AL FRANKEN. BtVS Intertext/Allusion.

In "Becoming," Part 1, Buffy, lured away from Sunnydale High School so that Drusilla and Spike's gang might kidnap Giles, is confronted by Angelus:

ANGELUS: Hello, lover. I wasn't sure you'd come.

BUFFY: After your immolation-o-gram? Come on, I had to show. Shouldn't you be out destroying the world right now, pulling the sword out of Al Franken or whatever his name is?

Angelus: There's time enough. I wanted to say goodbye first. You are the one thing in this dimension I will miss.

BUFFY: This is a beautiful moment we're having. Can we please fight?

Buffy has confused the demon-turned-to-stone Acathla with Al Franken (1951- ), the Saturday Night Live writer, actor (he played the 12 Step-aholic Stuart Smalley on SNL and in Stuart Saves His Family (1995) and now best-selling liberal political satirist (Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced View of the Right).
