MORLEY SAFER. BtVS Intertext/Allusion.
In "Doomed," the Scoobies," Xander (as usual) makes light of the discovery of an impending apocalypse with an allusion to television:
BUFFY: Tell me about this symbol.
WILLOW: Right, it was carved into his chest, like a big creepy eye.
XANDER: It’s kind of the CBS logo. Hey, could this be the handiwork of one Mr. Morley Safer?
BUFFY: I’m telling you I’ve seen this somewhere before, I just can’t remember where! I mean, it’s like...
GILES: It’s the end of the world.
All three kids: Again?
Morley Safer is a telejournalist, best known for his work on the long-running CBS television news magazine Sixty Minutes (1968- ). He has been on the show since 1970.
