WEETABIX. BtVS Intertext/Allusion.
Weetabix is the English breakfast cereal favored by Spike to give texture to his morning breakfast blood.
In “Hush,” while Spike is hiding from The Initiative in Giles’ apartment, the two have the following conversation:
SPIKE: . . . . . We’re out of Weetabix.
GILES: We are out of Weetabix because you ate it all – again.
SPIKE: Get some more.
SPIKE: I thought vampires were supposed to eat blood.
SPIKE: Yep. Well sometimes I like to crumble up the Weetabix in the blood – give it a little texture.
SPIKE: Since the picture you just painted means I will never touch food of any kind again you’ll just have to pick it up yourself.
SPIKE: Sissy.
Weetabix, flaked wheat pressed into oblong blocks, is notorious for becoming soggy in milk very quickly.
