The Encyclopedia of Buffy Studies (EBS) is intended to be a comprehensive, hyperlinked, online reference work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Brought to you by Slayage: The Online International Journal of Buffy Studies, the EBS will debut at the Slayage Conference on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (SCBtVS) to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, May 28-30, 2004, but it will be available online as it is being written.

Edited by David Lavery and Rhonda V. Wilcox, The EBS will be written by BtVS fans and scholars worldwide. To see the still-in-development table of contents go here, or go to the site (http://www.slayage.tv/EBS) and have a look around. (Note: If you would like to suggest other topics not yet listed, please write us.)

If you would like to contribute to the EBS, send an e-mail to the editors at encyclopedia@slayage.tv letting us know which entries you would like to be assigned. Some, take note, have already been completed, some have already been assigned, and some complex topics are marked "Multiple assignments possible," meaning that we will accept and publish more than one entry on them.

Please limit your list for the time being to no more than ten topics.

Each entry should (1) be written with an educated audience in mind and in a relatively detached, objective style befitting a reference work, (2) demonstrate awareness of the already published scholarship on BtVS (go here to see Derik Badman's academic Buffy bibliography), (3) assume the reader is familiar, but not necessarily expert, with the Buffyverse,  (4) be as comprehensive as possible, establishing context and significance, (5) provide hyperlinks to relevant/related webpages OUTSIDE the EBS (we will establish all the necessary hyperlinks WITHIN the EBS), (6) include a brief biography of the author. Length is not an issue. Make your entry as long as needed to cover the subject.

If the editors accept your work for inclusion in the EBS, you may feel free to ask for other assignments. Each author will, of course, be credited.

Each completed entry should be sent as an e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word (.doc) or Rich Text (.rtf) to encyclopedia@slayage.tv.

The editors reserve the right to reject and/or edit your submission(s) as they deem necessary.
