First Annual Mr. Pointy Awards for
Buffy Studies Scholarship
The editors of Slayage have inaugurated annual awards to honor the best Buffy Studies scholarship. The awards will be given at the Slayage Conference on Buffy the Vampire Slayer in Nashville, May 28-30, 2004. (At the left is a picture of Mary Alice Money and Rhonda V. Wilcox with Mr. P.) Awards will be given for books (Long Mr. Pointy) and essays (Short Mr. Pointy)--both to be given at the SCBtVS's Friday night banquet--and for the best paper at the SCBtVS (Mr. Pointy Paper)--to be given at the closing ceremonies of the SCBtVS.
The editors anticipate that an award for the best of the first five years of Buffy scholarship will be given in 2005 for work published 1999--2004. For the first annual award, however, the work nominated must have been published in 2003 and may have appeared in a book, traditional journal, electronic journal, or on a website.
