It had been a simple crush three years ago. A pretty girl who had it all, and didn't bother to hide it. Full lips and big eyes, walking as if the world existed only to please her, used to respect and wouldn't tolerate anything less. It made sense that twelve-year-old Dawn would develop a crush on her, the only one of her sisters friends who wasn't always reading old books that smelt funny, instead choosing to show her how to put on makeup and dress cool. She had learned how to flirt without actually showing an interest, and on her 13th birthday, she had given her a red dress. One that mom wouldn't let her wear out of the house, but still.
Then she moved away, and Dawn doesn't think she was ever told why. It broke her heart, and she had cried all summer, refusing to leave the house for anything.
But then Buffy had moved off to college, giving her more freedom to do what she wanted to without big sister yelling at her all the time.
She began stealing makeup from department stores her mom would drag her to, and wearing some of Buffy's cooler clothes. It because second nature to insult the dorks at school, even in grade 7. But even when she would go out on dates every weekend, her crush remained, growing stronger rather then fading, and even though it was actually pimplely boys she would be making out with in the back of the movies, in her mind it was always the image a flawless goddess in her mind.
A beautiful girl named Cordelia.
