Part (1/1)

I suppose I was the only one who ever suspected it. Even Willow never guessed what was going on. You see, last summer, while Buffy was in Los Angeles visiting her father, Willow and I kept each other company. She helped me ajust to living with my dad and many nights we would have sleep-overs while I worked on my magick. Well, one such night, I was lying in my sleeping bag trying to go back to sleep when I heard a noise outside. It sounded like something was moving in the bushes outside of the open window. Not knowing what else to do, I stayed were I was and closed my eyes halfway.

Through the window, I saw the figure of a person standing outside on the balcany. Who ever it was stayed perfectly still for a couple hours before leaving silently.

I didn't tell Willow, I knew it would only frighten her and, I decided, I could use my magick to find out what this person was watching Willow for.

So, the next night, I projected myself to Willow's house. It was my first long astrial projection, so I was concentrating a lot.

It wasn't long before the person came again. I got a good look at him from the side and the first word that came to mind was *hot*. So hot in fact, that I lost my concentration and suddenly found myself staring at my wall instead of the mysterious hottie following my friend.

I left my house after a quick silencing spell, wouldn't want him to hear me walk up, and arrived at Willows in record time. I hoped he was still there, if not, i would have to do this again.

I managed to get into the yard behind where I knew he was. Somehow, he knew I was there, and he turned towards me catching me in his icy stare. That's when I saw what I had needed to see. His eyes had told me, shown me, that he was no threat to my friend.

I nodded to him, to tell him I understood. And I did understand. He stood there a moment longer before disappearing into the night.

I never told Willow about her visitor. Not even a few months later when she met him. Buffy had gotten back, and I hardly saw Willow any more, but I found out that his name was Spike, and that Buffy and him were enemies.

Which made him and Willow enemies of a sort. Even then, though, I still remembered that night outside of Willow's house when I had seen into his eyes.

That night, when I got home, I set up a spell. A spell that protected both Buffy and Spike from each other without seeming obvious.

Now, from my cage on Willow's desk in the dorm she and Buffy share, I still sometimes see my old friends gardian. And everytime I see him, he has that same look in his eyes.
