In der Nacht zu ihrem Geburtstag schlafen Angel und Buffy zum ersten Mal miteinander. Kurz danach ist Angel spurlos verschwunden. Buffy kommt fast um vor Sorge um ihn. Doch dann trifft sie auf einen völlig veränderten Angel : Er ist kalt und gemein zu ihr. Buffy ahnt noch nicht, daß der Fluch, durch den Angel ein Gewissen erhalten hatte, wirkungslos geworden ist. Angel steht nun auf der Seite der Vampire.
