Hinto was born in Germany and, his father being in the military, moved around Europe as a child before landing in America. He attended the Jones-School of Ballet and at the age of 13 the School of American Ballet and from here went on to appear in many shows, winning three Tony Awards in the process.
As well as dancing and acting, Hinton enjoys singing and in 1986 he released an album, Untapped.
