Nathan Fillion Nathan was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada and is a distant relative of the Civil War general Jubal Early. Before becoming an actor, Nathan wanted to follow the family profession and become an English teacher. After being cast in many small roles, playing mainly good guys, Joss Whedon gave Nathan two career breaks, firstly casting him in the lead role of his new TV series Firefly and, when that series was cancelled, giving him the opportunity to play a bad guy in his more successful series, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Nathan was no stranger to the Buffyverse having originally auditioned for the role of Angel.

Trivia

Having leared that Nathan had a distant relative by the name of Jubal Early, Joss Whedon named a character after him in the episode Objects in Space.

Gina Torres Gina was born in Flower Fifth Hospital in Manhatten to Cuban parents and is the youngest of three siblings. They lived briefly in Washington Heights until her family moved to the Bronx. Gina began singing and dancing at an early age and attended The High School of Music and Art as a vocal major. Gina is trained in both opera and jazz and has also sung in a gospel choir. Gina went on to be accepted at all the colleges she applied to but, unfortunately was financialy unable to attend so she decided to go right ahead and further her career. An intern level answering telephones at the Lincoln Center Theatre Company got her her first audition, and although she didn't get the part, she did get an agent who got her a part in a musical. Gina continued to work in theatre and eventually found herself getting roles in TV and film. Gina is married to Laurence Fishbourne and co-starred with him in the Matrix sequels Reloaded and Revolutions.

Adam Baldwin Born in Chigaco, Adam attended the New Trier High School, and while still in school landed a role in a small film ‘My Bodyguard’ which was released in 1980. His performance kick started his career and over the next few years in appeared in several further films remaining in Chicago until he finally made the move to LA in 1986. Here he worked as a truck driver while waiting for the acting jobs to start rolling in, which they soon did.

In his 20 plus years in the business, Adam has featured in numerous films including, Full Metal Jacket, Predator 2, Wyatt Earp, The Patriot and Independence Day, he has also guest starred on such TV shows as the X-Files and Stargate SG.1.

After appearing in the short-lived Firefly, creator Joss Whedon gave Adam a role in the last five episodes of his other cancelled (but longer lived) show, Angel and, of course Adam will reprise his role as the mercenary Jayne Cobb in the Firefly movie: Serenity.

For the future Adam has been cast in Firefly and Angel writer/producer/director Tim Minear’s new show for Fox, The Inside which should hit screens in 2005. Off screen Adam holds firm political views which don’t always go down too well with his more liberal Firefly co-stars.

Jewel Staite Jewel was born in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, the youngest of seven children, but lived on the island of Maui until the age of four. Jewel got the entertainment bug at an early age and would spend her Friday noghts on Maui dressed in a grass skirt, doing hula at the Mai Tai parties at the Mauian Hotel on Napili Bay. When Jewel was four her family moved to Vancouver where she was persuaded to do a photo session at the Sears Portrait Studio when she learned there were free clothes in it. Jewel retains her passion for shopping (and especially shoes) to this day. Jewel attended the Vancouver Youth Theatre and her modelling jobs soon lead to commercials and then roles on TV series. When Jewel isn't acting she likes to sing jazz and swing. Trivia Jewel married fellow actor, Matt Anderson on the island of Maui where they try to holiday every year. Despite her success as an actor, Jewel continues to live in Vancouver, travelling to LA when she has to.

Alan Tudyk Having grown up in Plano, Texas, Alan studied drama at the Lon Morris Jr College from 1990-1991 he went on study at Julliard from 1993 to 1996. Alan has set up various comedy troups including "court Jesters Improv Troupe" and the "Rubber Chicken Standup Improv Troupe"). Alan has appeared in several films, most noteably, A Knight's Tale, 28 Days and I, Robot.

Alan's latest role has him back on the stage, starring in the hugely succesful Spamalot. A musical based on the works of Monty Python.

Summer Glau Summer was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She studied ballet from an early age and became proffessional at the age of just twelve. She has also studied flamenco and tango. She began her acting career by appearing in commecials and theatre productions until her big break came when she appeared as a guest star, in Joss Whedon's TV series Angel, he then cast her in his cencelled series Firefly and she repreises her role in the forthcoming movie, Serenity.

Trivia

Summer trained in martial arts for many hours for her role in Serenity and does 95% of her own fight stunts. .
