Born in Pylea, a dimension where there is no music and humans are kept as slaves, Lorne grew up with a passion for singing that was scorned by his family. Thrown into LA by a portal (possibly created by Fred) Lorne found that he was in his element and opened a demon Karaoke bar in the spot where he landed. Being an empath demon Lorne is able to read the aura's of humans and demons when they sing and runs a very successful establishment where violence is prohibited.
Being an anagogic demon, Lorne's heart is located in his backside and he can survive decapitation as long as the rest of his body is kept intact.
Lorne meets Angel when Wesley takes him to Caritas to obtain information from the demon, Merl and Angel comes to him for help on several occasions.
When the team Lorne's cousin arrives in town and, in sending him back home, Cordelia gets trapped in Pylea, Lorne reluctantly accompanies the team home to rescue her. Here he receives a frosty reception from his family and gets decapitated for his efforts. Fortunately Cordelia manages to match head and body back together and he returns to LA with the team.
After his club is blown up due to his involvement with Angel for the third time he decides to move into the Hyperion Hotel. Here he stays until he is offered a job in Vegas. Things in Vegas don't go quite as planned, however, and he finds that his boss is dealing in future's literally. Held captive and forced to read the aura's of his audience, Lorne must inform his boss which one's have a good destiny so that he can take it from them. He is soon rescued by Angel and co and returns with them to the Hyperion hotel.
When the team take over Wolfram & Hart, Lorne is made Head of Entertainment and is in his element, dealing with all the folk he ever wanted to meet, ever. It soon take's it toll, however, and, in order to keep up with his workload, he has his sleep removed with disastrous consequences.
Becoming increasingly disillusioned with the sacrifices that are being made at Wolfram & Hart, especially after losing Fred, Lorne plays his part in the final battle by killing Lindsey but refuses to stay around for the apocalypse.
