James Marsters at Shore Leave 2002

James Marsters holds a donation card to the Baltimore chapter of the SPCA.

In a 24-hour time period, members of the Bloody Awful Poet Society raised $750.00 for the SPCA in memory of James' cat Zachary, which he had adopted years before from the SPCA in New York. James was given a donation card from the SPCA and a cat greeting card signed from members of BAPS. He also graciously signed some items that will be used in a small charity auction on BAPS later in the year. (Thanks to Shore Leave Chairman Marilyn Mann for helping to arrange the photo and Julie Caitlin Brown for taking it.) The letter from the SPCA thanking BAPS for the donation.

On July 13 and 14, 2002, James Marsters appeared at the Shore Leave 24 Convention. Those of us who were too young to be a part of Beatlemania had a taste of it with the excited crowds that gathered for James' Q&As and autograph sessions. It was two days where comfortable shoes were in order because standing and waiting definitely were a part of the experience.

James was a trouper throughout and definitely made the waits worthwhile. He was polite, patient and made each fan feel as though he or she were the most important person in the world during the few moments they had with him in the autograph line. We thank him for making the experience such a great one for the fans.

BAPS led a lively SRO room discussion panel on Spike's Redemption Friday night titled, "There's a New (Soul) Boy in Town." Pictured, left to right, are Colleen, Alane and Laurie. And, of course, Action!Spike.
During the Q&As, some folks were sitting so far back, they were watching a projection of James.
