Okay, I don't actually have any fan fiction to share just yet, but I just wanna let everyone know that I'm in the planning stages of a Faith comic book that takes place months after the events of Not Fade Away.
Faith has relocated to Norfolk, Virginia (I've put a Hellmouth in my hometown, rather than set it in Cleveland, a town I know next to nothing about), where she's doing the Slayer duty, fighting demons without the aid of any cartoon nicknamed friends or a Watcher. Spike will eventually show up (because he's Spike and we just can't have a Slayerverse story without our favorite dead British guy), while Giles and Willow are in England rebuilding the Council. Angel, Illyria, Buffy, and even Wesley will come and go throughout the series, playing pivotal roles in the many stories I plan to tell.
I'm looking for this story to be dark, a lot like Angel, if not a bit darker. Like I said, things are still in development stages, but hopefully before too long I'll have the first issue writted. I'll share more as I have it, but right now I wanna guage interest and hear what, if any, ideas you guys have. _________________ Slaying's what we're built for. Sounds like an interesting premise...do you have any of your art up on the web? _________________

Ali told you my ideas on it, right? I personally can't wait to see it! _________________ :: Close your eyes and and see

Yes, Sasha, Ali told me your ideas, and they sound wicked cool. So I'll use them and give you a writer's credit for it.
Mike, sorry, no art up just yet. I'm having a hell of a time getting art done, let alone put online. Once I do, though, it'll be posted here.
Just dropped by with an update. The first issue, "Gotta Have," is currently under the writing process. It's coming along slowly and on occasion with fits of frustration and flying pieces of paper, but it is underway. Trying not to get too arc-heavy just yet, though I do wanna plant some seeds for future events.
Among the things I have planned for this series:
-The return of Spike and an even greater look at how he plans to deal with having a soul now that he's without Buffy and Angel. Drusilla will play a part in this for about three or four issues.
-A good deal of focus will go into Giles and his reformed Watchers' Council, as well as a look at the history of the Council, including a sect that fell to vampirism 1000 years ago.
-Illyria will be explored a good bit more, particularly when the question of Wesley's attempted resurrection comes into place. Willow will also play a part in all this.
-Since Norfolk is such a huge military town, the Initiative will make a return, though it won't be the same it was in Buffy season 4.
-We've seen how Wolfram & Hart treats vampires with souls, but what about Slayers and Watchers?
-Though the police have mostly gotten off Faith's back (thanks Angel--good to know your time as W&H CEO was worth something), one oficer in particular still gives her a hard time, and this officer harbors a secret (Ali, you already know what it is).
-A shocking event makes Buffy snap (thanks Sasha!), and we finally see how bad Buffy truly can be (no more of this "Faith is what Buffy could've been" crap).
-Willow's spell at the end of "Chosen" will wear off, and eventually, Faith will find herself the only Slayer left. Burden much?
Just a few things I have planned for the series. Once "Gotta Have" is written, and once art is available, you guys are sure to get your eyes on it. _________________ Slaying's what we're built for. If you're not enjoying it, then you're doing something wrong. |

Hi all...it's the annoying author again. Figured I'd drop by this time with an actual sample from my first issue, "Gotta Have.' Still no art, and I will warn you, this reads very much like a script (because, well, it is), but here's a tidbit to feast your Faith-loving eyes on:
NARRATOR
The Ghent section of town. The here and now.
FAITH opens the door to her apartment, sighing as she places her jacket on the rack by the door.
FAITH (thinking)
Damn, five vamps in three nights…somethin’ big must be goin’ down. And what was with that girl? I mean, I get the whole wigged about a vampire, but—somethin’ seemed different this time. I don’t know what, but—
FAITH goes to flip the light switch. The bulb burns out.
FAITH (with a sigh)
Great. Fifth light bulb in three weeks. No wonder rent’s so low around here….
FAITH goes to the fridge, grabbing a beer. She sits on the chair in the living room, lighting a smoke. She stares out the window as the streets are flooded with the sounds of sirens and city-type stuff.
FAITH (thinking)
Really gotta talk to Giles about an upgrade. I can’t live in dumps like this anymore. So dark and cold and alone…I don’t know how much longer I can stand it. The loneliness, the restlessness—I can’t go anywhere, but I can’t stay in one place. Always on the run, never knowing where I’m going…only where I’ve been….
Fast forward a few hours, with FAITH now asleep in her bed. Commence with the dream sequence (a staple of good drama since last Tuesday).
FAITH (thinking)
Sunnydale, 1999. God, I hate this dream. So vivid…it feels so real. The sights, the smells, the warmth…it feels like I’ve lived it all.
BUFFY and FAITH walk down a dark alley, each with weapons in hand.
BUFFY
We can’t take them like this.
A vamp jumps out, promptly staked by BUFFY. Poof!
FAITH
If they keep comin’ one at a time we can.
A figure jumps out, and FAITH quickly grabs him, throwing him against the dumpster before driving her stake through his chest.
BUFFY
Faith, no!
Zoom in on the man’s face to show the horrifying truth—it wasn’t a vampire that FAITH staked. It was a human being, the deputy mayor to be exact. He’s shivering now, going cold as the blood seeps from the wound in his chest. Small droplets fall from his parted lips as he looks at FAITH with fear, her own face marked with disgust and disbelief.
FAITH (thinking)
Probably because I did.
BUFFY pushes FAITH out of the way, dabbing the man’s wound as he shivers.
BUFFY
Oh, God...Faith, call 911…now! Oh God….
FAITH
I’m—I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to, I…I’m sorry!
BUFFY
Faith! Call an ambulance before we—
The man whimpers one last time before falling limp, the stake jutting out from his chest, the blood drying as it seeps from his cold, dead body. Faith had killed a human.
BUFFY (voiceover)
Faith, you killed a man!
FAITH awakens suddenly with a loud gasp, sweat on her forehead and tears trickling down her cheeks as she grabs the bed sheets, covering her naked body (yes, FAITH still sleeps in the nude…she didn’t ditch all of her old habits, ya know) as she shivers, eyes darting around the apartment before she looks at her hands outstretched in front of her.
FAITH (thinking)
It’s been over five years since I killed my first human. Didn’t even mean to do it…not that it makes him any less dead. I washed the blood from my hands long ago, but it still stains me. The chunks of red caked under my fingernails, the crimson splatter ruining the cotton of my white tank top. I can still feel the warmth, how quickly his blood cooled. I can still smell the fear, the salty intoxication of his life slipping away. The nauseous realization that he wasn’t gonna just go poof like all the other things I’d killed to that point.
FAITH buries her head in her hands, starting to cry.
FAITH (thinking)
Every stake I widdle, every vamp I dust…it all reminds me of that night where I finally lost it, did what so many had predicted I would years before. I didn’t just kill a man that night—I killed myself. _________________ Slaying's what we're built for. If you're not enjoying it, then you're doing something wrong. |
