Buffy writer with new job!

One of our beloved Buffy writers will co-create a new WB show! Find out more!
"Plum deal for scribe" by Michael Schneider

(Variety) — The WB is looking to turn Plum Sykes' bestselling novel "Bergdorf Blondes" into a comedic drama series.

Debut novel from Vogue contributing editor Sykes recently spent four months on the New York Times bestseller list. Novel takes a slightly satiric glimpse inside the world of New York's rich girls.

Frog has picked up a script based on the book. Warner Bros. TV will produce the hourlong project, with Karey Burke and Jamie Tarses on board as exec producers. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" scribe Rebecca Kirshner will co-create the project with Sykes.

"Blondes" follows the exploits of its narrator, a spoiled twentysomething who refers to herself only as "Moi," and the cast of characters who make up her "Sex and the City"-style life, including her best pal, heiress Julie Bergdorf. Together, the two attend charity balls and fashion shows in search of love.

Beyond "Buffy," Kirshner's credits include writing for "Gilmore Girls," "Las Vegas" and "Freaks and Geeks."

British-born Sykes spent several years at the U.K. edition of Vogue before moving to the U.S. mag in 1997. She's currently at work on her next book, targeted for a summer release.
