This Spring in Cinema!

Many Hollywood blockbusters will start this spring among them also one movie of a Scoobie that is worth to look forward to.
Friday "Hitch." Will Smith plays a date doctor who can fix anybody but himself. Kevin James plays one of his hopeless singles in need of coaching. "Inside Deep Throat." This documentary examines the great gap between the intentions of the filmmakers who produced a sexually explicit film seen by millions and its legacy. "Pooh's The Heffalump Movie." Piglet, Pooh and Tigger set out to catch a Heffalump in this animated Disney movie, but Roo, deemed too young to go along, meets a Hefffalump and learns he's nothing like the dreaded creature he expected.

Feb. 18 "Because of Winn-Dixie." Based on the novel by Kate DiCamillo, this film is the story of a lonely young girl who acquires a dog and finds friends through that connection. Jeff Daniels, AnnaSophia Robb, Cicely Tyson and Dave Matthews star. "Son of the Mask." In this family comedy, Jamie Kennedy plays the father of a baby boy born with the powers of the Mask of Loki. But the son and the family dog battle for control of the mask. Alan Cumming and Bob Hoskins also star. "Constantine." Keanu Reeves plays a man who teams up with a policewoman (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mystery of her twin's suicide. They find themselves caught in a world of demons and angels. "Her Majesty." A young New Zealand girl learns about bigotry and another culture after the young Queen Elizabeth announces she'll visit the girl's hometown.

Feb. 25 "Diary of a Mad Black Woman." Tyler Perry plays a pot-smoking, gun-toting grandma who helps her granddaughter get her life back together. Kimberly Elise also stars. "Cursed." Christina Ricci, Jesse Eisenberg and Joshua Jackson star in a horror film about a Los Angeles werewolf that changes the lives of three people who realize they must kill it to change their luck. "The Chorus." A teacher-composer brings harmony to a boys' school by organizing a chorus. The music is thrilling; the film is in French with English subtitles.

March 4 "The Pacifier." Vin Diesel is Shane Wolf, a disgraced Navy S.E.A.L. assigned to protect a houseful of kids. "The Jacket." Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley star in a drama about a veteran put on a course of experimental drugs, who is sent into the future, where he can see his death.

March 11 "Robots." A cast of clanking robots fills an animated universe created by Chris Wedge, the award-winning director of "Bunny" and "Ice Age." Ewan McGregor gives voice to a robot genius inventor named Rodney Copperbottom who dreams of making the world a better place. Other voices are provided by Halle Berry, Greg Kinnear, Mel Brooks, Robin Williams and Amanda Bynes. "The Upside of Anger." Joan Allen and Kevin Costner star in a comedic drama about a deserted suburban mom with four daughters who falls for a neighbor, a baseball-star-turned-DJ. "Hostage." Bruce Willis plays a former hostage negotiator who thinks he has chosen a sleepy-town job as chief of police. But a hostage-taking brings him out of "retirement" and puts the fate of a family in his hands.

March 18 "Ice Princess." Michelle Trachtenberg plays a champion ice skater who needs her coach, her parents and her boyfriend to help her realize her goals. "The Ring 2." Picking up six months after Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) were terrorized in "The Ring," this much-anticipated sequel finds them in Oregon, with Samara back and ready to continue her cycle of death and terror.

March 25 "Guess Who." Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher star in a comedy that's not an update, but similar to "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner." "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous." Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) returns as the FBI agent who foiled a beauty-pageant disaster, but now she's so famous, the bureau has put her on the talk-show circuit. To save a friend she made at the pageant, she returns to her old form.

April 1 "Sin City." Storylines from three of comic-book icon Frank Miller's graphic novels are interwoven to create a story of sexy dames, crooked cops and criminals. Bruce Willis, Clive Owen, Brittany Murphy, Devon Aoki and Elijah Wood star. "The Weather Man." A Chicago forecaster with family troubles finds his life out of control, just like the weather. Nicolas Cage stars.

April 8 "Sahara." A master explorer travels through some of West Africa's most dangerous regions in search of a lost Civil War battleship that protects a secret cargo. Matthew McConaughey, Steve Zahn, Penelope Cruz and Delroy Lindo star. "Rebound." Martin Lawrence stars in this comedy as a high-strung college basketball coach who must redeem himself by coaching a junior high team after he's had a public meltdown. "Fever Pitch." The Farrelly Brothers are behind a contemporary romantic comedy about a high school teacher who falls in love with a businesswoman. All is well until baseball season threatens their relationship. Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon star. "Unleashed." A slave (Jet Li) has lived his entire life without any education. Morgan Freeman also stars.

April 15 "Rumor Has It." Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner, Shirley MacLaine and Mark Ruffalo star in a romantic comedy about a woman who isn't sure who she really is until she meets an Internet millionaire, unlocking secrets about her family.


April 22 "King's Ransom." Anthony Anderson plays a man who plots his own kidnapping to avoid turning over his fortune to his soon-to-be ex-wife. "The Interpreter." Sean Penn plays a federal agent who must protect a U.N. interpreter who overheard a death threat against an African head of state. Nicole Kidman plays the interpreter. "Madison." Filmed in Madison, Ind., in 1999, this film starring Jim Caviezel and Jake Lloyd finally gets a release. Caviezel plays the driver of the hydroplane Miss Madison, in a story of heartbreak and triumph. "Walk the Line." Johnny Cash's early days, from living on an Arkansas cotton farm to his recordings at Sun Studios in Memphis, are chronicled in this film starring Joaquin Phoenix as Cash, and Reese Witherspoon as his wife, June Carter.

April 29 "XXX: State of The Union." A federal agent (Ice Cube) is sent to Washington to help defuse a national power struggle.

May 6 "Monster-in-Law." Jane Fonda plays an unhappy ex-news anchor who sets out to become a terrible mother-in-law to Jennifer Lopez' character because she fears losing her son's affections. "The Kingdom of Heaven." Orlando Bloom, Jeremy Irons and Liam Neeson star in an epic adventure about a man who rises to knighthood and finds himself trying to keep the peace in Jerusalem. "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Arthur Dent is having a bad day when the Earth is about to be demolished; to survive he hitches a ride on a spacecraft and finds the meaning of life. Sam Rockwell, Mos Def, Zooey Deschanel and Martin Freeman star in this intergalactic comedy.

May 13 "Madagascar." Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith provide the voices of four zoo animals in this DreamWorks animated film. The animals are shipwrecked and forced to survive in the wild. The native New Yorkers learn it's a jungle out there. "Kicking and Screaming." Will Ferrell and Robert Duvall star in a comedy about the cutthroat world of youth league soccer. As father and son, they go to extremes to beat each other.

May 19 "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith." The Clone Wars are nearly at an end. Chancellor Palpatine reveals to Anakin Skywalker the true nature of power and the secrets of the Force to entice him to the Dark Side. Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson and the whole gang are back.

Also this spring: "Dear Frankie." To protect her deaf son from the truth about the father he's been told is at sea, Lizzie (Emily Mortimer) hires a stranger (Gerard Butler) as dad for a day.
