Save Point Pleasant & Veronica Mars!
Kristin's Fifth Annual S.O.S. Campaign to save a show. Remember last year? "Angel" got 85%. Now, it's time to give another show your vote. |
Last year:
Angel scored 85% with more than 340000 votes!
 Kristin's words a year ago:
"As promised, I am writing letters to the network suits (at both the WB and UPN, which has been pitched the show) to help make your voices heard. The original plan was to do this for the top three contenders, but because Angel took such a huge chunk of the pie, the other series--including Arrested Development, Boston Public, Enterprise, Ed, Miss Match, One Tree Hill and Tru Calling--each received only 1 to 3 percent of the votes. So, this year, SOS is all about Angel. "

Now, one year later, there is another S.O.S. Campaign!
And there are new shows in danger!
Veronica Mars and Point Pleasant are very likely to be canceled, so they are in the category RED.
 In Kristin's words:
CODE RED: In Serious Danger
Point Pleasant (Fox): Given its nasty bloodbath of a time slot (Thursday nights at 9 p.m.) Point Pleasant's low ratings (four million viewers) aren't surprising, but they are unfortunate, given the series' recent creative uptick. "It's heartbreaking," creator and executive producer Marti Noxon (formerly of Buffy) told me. "We feel like we've really found our footing in the later episodes, and the show is sort of fading out...I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to say stuff like this, but I certainly think our chances of coming back are pretty slim if the ratings don't pick up. We need fresh eyes." If Marti's and my assertion that the show has improved isn't enough to make you tune in, maybe this is: She wants James Marsters (Buffy's Spike) for the second season. I'll give you the deets on that in this week's chat, after you set your TiVo for Point Pleasant.
Veronica Mars (UPN): We Veronica fans know one thing--this smart, sassy series is hands down the most underappreciated and underwatched newbie of the season. Sadly, the ratings are not improving. But executive producer Rob Thomas shared this glimmer of hope: "[UPN president] Dawn Ostroff, when we had our middle-of-the-year state-of-the-show meeting, she said, 'This is a great show, like Seinfeld, like Cheers, like our competition One Tree Hill, in that it needs that second year to really catch on.' " Please, oh please, oh please?
